Jimmy,
Please explain how this is germane to Canada as a country that somehow was convinced by one Buckaroo to another to have soldiers who's real duty it is to keep the peace, to do an about face and then get killed by friendly fire and be committed until February 2009. Does Bush and your McCain think Canada's being sucked into this mess in someway justifies the action taken? So McCain comes off as a nice man but still a war monger, I guess being a guest in the Hanoi Hilton will do that.

Let common sense and respect for the other prevail.
Johai

It may not be germaine to Canada, but if you are interested in American politics only to further Canadian interests, you hadbest start praying McCain is the next President......because both of the Dems are NOT Canada-friendly. McCain is.

You, DB, are increasingly irrelevant, and increasingly incoherent.....something I'd hardly thought possible.

You "hardly thought" that's more than possible, in fact it's very likely that you never think. At least by virtue of increaseing I still have momentum you however are a victim peters principle. Don't feel bad. Darwin explains your problem aptly, you have evolved into a corner.

McCaine will be President for sure. The Dems have done it to themselves once again. They have backed a horse that cannot win. When Obama gets the nod it will become clearly evident.

Hillary may have had a chance...Obama...not a snowballs chance in hell.

How can either of their candidates have a chance after they've bled and eaten off of one another? Rampant cannibalism doesn't make for strong candidates. It makes for a weak, ill party. As much as I tend to have democratic leanings (Canadian right, American left... lol), the way they've gone about this is sickening and disgraceful.

I doubt McCain would serve two terms......he is 71 now.

Want misery in Iraq?

Withdraw......then you'll see misery.

There was a type of misery in Iraq before u.s. invaded, bush just changed it over to
a more complex type of misery, and many many more deaths than Hussein ever
did, hussein now seems like 'a big mean daddy' compared to bush who is 'a blood thirsty
invader'.

The new democratic president will withdraw from Iraq in conjunction with the military
advice given at that time, at least that is what Obama will do, but the difference to
bush is that, he has an open ended plan in Iraq with no plan to withdraw, and the
americans are dieing every week, and fast forward 5 more years and there will be
7 or 8 thousand dead, and more importantly many thousands more iraqis, and the
reason I say more importantly is that, it is their country, so their lives are more
important than the invaders.

Question: This is as illegal an excuse as Viet Nam was and the outcome will be the same.
Why should we care what the Buckaroos do anyway ? Let's just shut off the power to the eastern third of the `soon to become third world country` and be done with it. No skin off my nose and too much priority is being given to this subject.
Genuinely,

Five years of war and a withdrawal would be 'hasty' in his sick mind?

In my opinion the Republicans are dead wrong about not speaking with Iran and the rest of the so-called terrorist states. Never before in the history of North America has foreign policy been so screwed by any government like what they have accomplished in the last eight years. For crying out loud, the HY Philharmonic accomplished more to ease tensions than Connie Rice. But that looks to be their platform. Just keep on doing what Bush did. And lets not kid oursleves, Bush did what he did because they all come from the same puppet master.

If you want Bush again, vote for McCain. It's that simple.

I also saw the NY Philharmonic in N. Korea, very impressive, and the n. korean people loved them. They played the star spangled banner, and there was applause, 'nothing
evil about that'. Let the people figure each other out, and get rid of all the 'evil'
leaders, and that includes 'you know who'.

Exactly. North Koreans don't know anything about the west, and that's half the challenge for the future. One can't change the attitudes if all one does is throw rocks from behind a curtain.

Hopefully Americans will see through the fear and smear crap this time around.

Yes, it seems all of us have to depend on the leaders of the countries to make all of the
decisions concerning 'what is best for us'. I am sick of that. I see leaders doing what they
'in their power driven little worlds', do, pushing and shoving and dictating and posturing, and
we, the masses, have to sit back and be told, 'how it's going to be'.
'kim jung 'whatever', is a creep, george bush is a creep, chavez is a creep, etc, get my point, how to these creeps get these positions, 'power hungry', for their own selfish gains.

maybe the ny philharmonic have just given all of us a very good lesson in diplomacy, and
all who are capable and able, be it whatever group, dancers, poets, orchestras, and
perhaps communities/countries should develope their own 'diplomacy clubs', and we
can make our own arrangements to meet with other groups in other countries to
discuss how we want to 'get along'.
It is very disturbing to me that a country of 300 million in the u.s., all have to be at
the whim of a failed government lead by a failed human being, who should be at his
ranch, that was paid for by his daddy's money, shovelling horse sh*t, and not leading
anyone.

If the US talks to its enemies the Americans will hear messages like this:

"In the Name of the God of Mercy, Compassion, Peace, Freedom and Justice

"Mr. President, Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen,

"Today we have gathered here to exchange views about the world, its future and our common responsibilities towards it. It is evident that the future of the world is intertwined with its current state and the prevailing trends ,which exhibit signs of hope and despair.

"On the one hand certain hopes and opportunities exist, and this august Assembly is convened on such hopes. Today human thought reflects outstanding commonalities which provide appropriate grounds to build upon. With the passing of the era of agnostic philosophies, today humanity is once again joined in celebrating monotheism and belief in the Creator as the originator of existence. This is the common thread which binds us all.

"Faith will prove to be the solution to many of today's problems.

The Truth will shine the light of faith and ethics on the life of human beings and prevent them from aggression, coercion and injustice and will guide them towards care and compassion for fellow beings.

"Another hope is the common global appreciation of the sources of knowledge. Although reason, experience and science are among valuable sources of knowledge, the darkness of the Middle Ages deprived major portions of the Western world of appreciating. This reactionary tendency deprived many of access to various scientific findings and knowledge and led to the exclusion of other sources of knowledge namely God and knowledge based on revelation from the life of human beings in the West; Divine knowledge that was carried and disseminated by such prophets as Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Mohammad (peace be upon them).

"Today, agnostic thinking is on the decline and presently humanity is equally enamored with religion knowledge and spirituality. This is an auspicious beginning. Divine prophets teach us about proper regard for the exalted state of human beings on earth.

"The human being is blessed with dignity, most importantly manifested in being the viceroy of the Almighty on earth. The Almighty placed humans on earth to develop it, institutionalize justice, overcome their egoistic tendencies and praise no lord but the Almighty.

"Faith and good deeds can bring deliverance and the good life even in this world. Attaining this depends on human will, that is the will of each and every one of us. We must heed the call of our common primordial nature and achieve the realization of this good life.

"On the other hand, the prevalence of military domination, increasing poverty, the growing gap between rich and poor countries, violence as a means to solve crises, spread of terrorism, specially state terrorism, existence and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the pervasive lack of honesty in interstate relations, and disregard for the equal rights of peoples and nations in international relations constitute some of the challenges and threats.

"Although these challenges are very real, we believe we are not predestined to experience them. Our common will not only can change this course but in fact can lead us to a life filled with hope and prosperity. Divine revelation teaches us that "The Almighty changes the fate of no people unless they themselves show a will for change" (Holy Quran, 13:11).

"How can we influence the future of the world? When and how will peace, tranquility and well-being for all come about? These are the fundamental questions before us.

"We believe that a sustainable order, nurturing and flourishing peace and tranquility, can only be realized on the two pillars of justice and spirituality. The more human society departs from justice and spirituality, the greater insecurity it will face, so much so that a relatively small crisis, such as a natural disaster, leads to various abnormalities and inhuman behavior.

"Unfortunately, the world is rife with discrimination and poverty.

Discrimination produces hatred, war and terrorism. They all share the common root of lack of spirituality coupled with injustice. Justice is about equal rights, the correct distribution of resources in the territories of different states, the equality of all before the law and respect for international agreements.

"Justice recognizes the right of every one to tranquility, peace and a dignified life. Justice rejects intimidation and double standards. As the eminent daughter of the Prophet of Islam has said, "justice brings tranquility and harmony to our hearts."

"Today, the world is longing for the establishment of such justice. If humanity heeds the call of its primordial nature with firm resolve, justice will emerge. This is what the Almighty has promised and all people of good will from all religions are waiting for. If the prevailing discourse of global relations becomes one of justice and spirituality, then durable peace will be guaranteed.

"Conversely, if international relations are defined without justice and spirituality and void of moral considerations, then the mechanisms for promoting confidence and peace will remain insufficient and ineffective.

"If some, relying on their superior military and economic might, attempt to expand their rights and privileges, they will be performing a great disservice to the cause of peace and in fact will fuel the arms race and spread insecurity, fear and deception. If global trends continue to serve the interests of small influential groups, even the interests of the citizens of powerful countries will be jeopardized, as was seen in the recent crises and the even natural disaster such as the recent tragic hurricane.

"Today, my nation calls on other nations and governments to "move forward to a durable tranquility and peace based on justice and spirituality."

"Mr. President, Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen,
"The Islamic Republic of Iran...

Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Saturday offered proposal on nuclear program.

The following is full text of President Ahmadinejad before the Sixtieth Session of the United Nations General Assembly

Sept 17 2005

Nuclear Technology is a likely topic. Americans would hear this:

...The nuclear issue of Iran is a clear example of how such mechanisms perform and the prevailing thoughts behind them. You are all aware that Iran is a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency and has always observed its rules and regulations and has had the most extensive cooperation with this Agency in all areas. All our nuclear activities have been completely peaceful and transparent.

According to the Statute of the IAEA, any member has a number of rights and obligations. In fact, all members have to stay on a peaceful path and, under the supervision of the Agency assist other members, and they are entitled to be supported by the Agency and have access to the fuel cycle with the help of the Agency and its members.

Thus far, Iran has fulfilled all of its obligations but has been deprived of other members' technical assistance and, even at times, of the Agency's support. For about 5 years, some of the aforementioned powers have, by exerting heavy pressure on the IAEA, attempted to prevent the Iranian nation from exercising its rights.

They have derailed Iran's nuclear issue from its legal tracks, and have politicized the atmosphere to impose their wishes through taking advantage of all their potentials.

The government of Iran spared no effort to build confidence, but they were not satisfied with anything short of the complete halt of all activities, even those related to research and university fields.

They were only after depriving the Iranian people of all their inalienable rights, even to the extent that those centers not involved in the fuel cycle or not in need of supervision by the Agency were closed.

After three years of negotiations and attempts to build confidence, the Iranian nation came to the firm belief that the main concern of these powers is not the possible deviation of Iran's nuclear activities, but is to prevent its scientific progress under this pretext.

And, if this trend continues there will be no possibility for Iran to enjoy its rights, not even in the next 20 years. Therefore, Iran decided to pursue the issue through its appropriate legal path, one that runs through the IAEA, and to disregard unlawful and political impositions by the arrogant powers.

In the last two years, abusing the Security Council, the arrogant powers have repeatedly accused Iran and even made military threats and imposed illegal sanctions against it...
