It was funny to see 2 different perspectives: one from the CBC & others from the Canadian Independent & U.S. Media. The video I watched showed a VERY uncomfortable Carney so he's already shown he's not what he says he is & he'll likely "cave" to Trump anyway because he doesn't have an ounce of integrity!
As soon as 2013 gets here and it is ice free, it will be valuable.

He is wrong on that front. Saudis and OPEC are helping to break Russia and Iran and ultimately China financially
Mere weeks after Prime Minister Mark Carney declared that bilateral relations with the U.S. were “over,” he’s leaned into a pro-American stance that is almost entirely at odds with the position he took during the federal election campaign.
“Thank you for your hospitality, and above all for your leadership. You’re a transformational president focused on the economy with a relentless focus on the American worker. Securing the borders. Ending the scourge of fentanyl and other opioids. And securing the world,” Carney said.
And the paean was one of the few things that Carney said throughout the entire appearance. A video analysis of the half-hour press conference by the X account Vesper confirmed that Carney only spoke for three minutes as compared to 30 minutes for Trump.

This included Carney sitting silently as Trump went on multiple extended rants about the need for the U.S. annexation of Canada, and the abolition of the “artificially drawn line” between the two countries.
Trump also claimed to have won Carney the election. “I was probably the greatest thing that happened to him, but I can’t take full credit. His party was losing by a lot and he ended up winning,” said Trump, to laughter from the Canadian leader.
In the first week of the election campaign, Carney declared “the old relationship we had with the United States based on deepening integration of our economies and tight security and military cooperation is over. It’s clear the U.S. is no longer a reliable partner.”
Just last week, Carney’s election night victory speech framed Trump as an existential threat to Canada…but the election is over now.
(Polls repeatedly showed that Carney’s meteoric rise in public support was due largely to voter perceptions that he was the best equipped to take on the United States)

For all Carney has done to try to chart a new path forward, two things will continue to haunt him and could lead Canadians to conclude that the Trudeau era is not, in fact, over.

As Trump effectively lowered British tariffs he bluntly told the world that he will not be doing the same for Canada in a White House meeting with new Canadian PM (and former Bank of England Governor) Mark Carney.
The two countries may be next door neighbours but there was no love lost between the two, as Trump declared that the US "doesn't do much business with Canada."
Carney then told Trump that Canada will not become a US State and will remain an independent nation.

Well, if you only heard about the Carney/Trump meeting from Canadian media, you would think it was a very different meeting than the one that’s shown in the video above.
Pretty much Carney’s sole platform in this last federal election was about Trump, & very little else beyond watered down conservative platform points with liberal caveats so that they’d never have to actually live up to the promises, and so many swallowed it hook, line, and stinker.
Now that Canada elected the prime minister it deserves instead of the one it needed, we have to live with that choice for the foreseeable future. Tuesday Carney will appoint a “fresh” cabinet & we will get to see how much he’s “not” the same as Justin Trudeau like he claims to be…

Well, it’s not like they haven’t had business dealings (though cut outs) in the past. The whole Son-in-Law/Brookfield/Qatar thing is the one we know about…& no idea if others exist or don’t regarding Carney facilitating deals for the Trump empire already.
Trumps timely statements during the CANADIAN election, & Carney’s “pauses” to deal with them where beyond transparent, but here we are.
If any Conservative had tried what Carnage got accolades for, CBC would be all over it like white on rice.

But economists who have analyzed immigration statistics say that any reductions would not reflect the true number of temporary residents living here and may mean that pressure on housing and services will not be eased to the extent expected.
Official population figures also fail to capture undocumented migrants who last year Mr. Miller estimated could number about 600,000.
The economists warn that Ottawa is overestimating the number of temporary migrants who leave the country once their visas expire. This could have a serious impact on planning, including for housing demand, they say.
