Perhaps what the next government should do is make intentional (so not second-hand) recreational consumption an offense punishable by a heavy fine but legalize it otherwise. Even though we'd know that people would be using it, the fact that they could legally buy and sell it and have it in their possession but just not consume it recreationally would ensure that those who intend to do so would be much more discreet about it so as to not bother the rest of us with their stink. Advertising rules should be strict too along with other regulations. We should apply the same to nicotine and alcohol too.

By all means make buying and selling it legal under strict advertizing rules, but make consuming it recreationally a fineable offence except maybe in very specific designated areas, but certainly not in a condo building or on public property. The pot shop itself would be an appropriate designated area for example.

Yet more epic cluelessness-this is so not going to happen.

I had to visit a government building just this morning. It stunk of tobacco smoke at each entrance: does the Federal government require staff to smoke or something? Anyway, just wait till pot is legal and then having to enter a government building.
I know where to hang out now, thanks. Want any updates?

They may have to rewrite the opening scene to the original 'Super Troopers' movie so they can update how it would now 'go down'.

Is it ever gonna feel good to have it delivered to my door without me having to look both ways down the street to see if the delivery person is being followed, or that he is just gonna take my money and run.
And to have some confidence that the delivery person did not spray the product with Roundup or some other unknown chemical agents.

You've paid dearly for your high, OD but none-the-less I am glad to hear you are now able to buy clean dope safely.

I really feel for people living in cities who partake. I pay $100/ounce for organically grown pot. I've visited the op. The grower is a good friend and I've known him for over 3 decades. When I see what people are paying for dope in other places, I just thank my lucky stars.

You can look forward to prices going to $100/lb for that 'off the grid' product. I would think growing your own would be inviting a home invasion just about harvest time.
Is that 4 mature plants at 1 time or 4 plants in 4 stages of growth so you finish one plant when the other plant is ready. Do the extra seeds get thrown into the ditch near any culvert?

Lets hope the border guard you happen to be dealing with is having a good day, and hasn't been burdened with his Mother-in-Law or Grandkids for the weekend, or has been fighting with her spouse, etc....or feels slighted in some way that you don't even realize. Do you have to be guilty of anything to have a border guard say, "No Soup For You!" and that's the end of that trip? The math says that a 70 year old was a teenager in the late '60's so where is their plausible deniability with respect to Marijuana use, and anyone younger than 70 years old was a teenager in the '60's or '70's or '80's and so on so the plausible deniability even if they've never touched the stuff really isn't there. If you lie to a customs agent its grounds for inadmissibility and do they have to prove that you're lying or suspect that you're lying to them?

Maybe you've done these drugs before and maybe
you haven't. Maybe you're 68yrs old and thus where
19yrs old in the summer 1969? Hmmmm........

There is a lot talk about the push for total expungement of the records which would wipe them from the systems that both sides use to check us out. The pardon is just a step on the way but a very necessary step.

Weed hasn't sold that cheap since the 60's even in the early 70's it was over $100/per.

As per SOP you have NFC what you're talking about.

Admit it you've never seen an ounce of weed- let alone a pound.

I just watched a presentation about this historic day on Deutsche Welle TV. So many happy Canadians on that broadcast!

Canadian media are having a field day with this, gopher. It is the topic of every single news cast up here and they are milking it for all it is worth. Politicians, border officials, doctors, pot shop owners, pot growers esp Aurora, and yes lots and lots of happy tokers.

We have embarked on a grand experiment. Whether or not it was well thought out has yet to be determined. I expect there to be many bumps in the road along the way especially as the laws vary so much from province to province. Here BC where we've been famous for our bud for decades there was but one pot vendor open in Kamloops. You can order on line but must hope it gets to you before the posties go on strike which they are threatening to do. I expect the law courts will be busy.

I would never have to worry about someone breaking in around here as most of my neighbors will also be growing plants. Besides we're all old folks. Mine will be in my garden. It is not visible from the road though I don't know if that even matters out here.
