Seems to me that ungrateful immigrants changed quite a lot of things since Columbus first drifted in.

One problem with your "scenario", they weren't "immigrants" back then, and Columbus came no where near present day Canada.

That's wonderful. This idiot CHOSE to immigrate to Canada. He already knew what our form of government was. If he doesn't like it, then fu ck off. He is no different than any other immigrant coming to this country, wanting to change it, or not wanting to follow our customs, laws, and beliefs.

So let's say a foreigner marries a Canadian and they have a child and later they decide to move to Canada to move closer to his in-laws but he disagrees with monarchy, we should keep him out of the country even if it divides him from his family. Ah how we priorities family values today.

But hey, as long as she doesn't abort, there is nothing wrong with the state dividing families.

I take it you care till the kid's born, right.

Northern Ontario,
I'm not a fan of the monarchy but if you want to move here, you should be ready to accept the rules that exist and the system here.
If you want to change the system later on, do it the proper way! And don't be an âss about it and Pîss and moan

Is he willing to take that citizenship oath? Is he going to recant afterwards? Then it would be HIS choice. "WE" are not doing sweet pi$$ all. He has the choice. It is ALL up to him to follow the rules or not. You can't blame "we" or "us" or "Canada" for someone not willing to follow the rules or take responsibility for their own actions.

True enough. So of what value is an oath taken under duress? Today we have immigrants and Quebec separatist politicians swearing allegiance to the Queen. I'm even aware of at least one man who'd gone through the motions to pretend to profess the Catholic Faith to send his child to a better local school.

The problem is that Canadian law makes it so profitable to pretend to be this or that that it's turning us into a country of spineless pretenders to the point that we don't truly know who believes what anymore, effectively cheapen in the oath of Allegiance into nothing more than an empty meaningless formality.

We might as well make them all pretend to profess the Christian Faith while we're at it.

what duress? They know what is required, if they are unwilling to do it, then they can leave. If they choose to take the oath, but don't believe, then they are liars and if found out should not be allowed into this country.

Cool rant bro. So let's say a foreigner marries a Canadian and they have a child and later they decide to move to Canada to move closer to his in-laws but he disagrees with our values and mores, he should be allowed to become a citizen just because his wife married a f*cking idiot?

Prove it.
Prove what? That the monarchy and parliament are not very useful? hahaha
It would depend upon the definition of "useful". If you mean sucking up taxpayer money while contributing very little to public interest, then yes, they are useful for that.
The monarchy by itself costs about $50,000,000 per year and for what, spending on travels and ceremonies. The monarchy is one hell of an expensive figurehead and a soother for people who like the sentimental claptrap.
And parliament? It seems to spend most of its time catering to corporate concerns. The rest of the time is mostly spent on squabbling, scandals, stabbing the provinces in the backs, and generally being a leeching nuisance to Canadians.

And let's not forget that the human serving as Monarch of Canada is by default the same human serving as Head of the Church of England. That means no catholic, atheist, muslim, jew, hindu or buddhist could be Monarch of Canada. In a supposedly secular country, it's a laughable state of affairs. While I'm quite clearly against monarchy, I could at least find it in myself to support the concept if it wasn't discriminatory and if our Monarch was Canadian.

Look into monitor and swing real hard. The old style work better and you get feed back on how hard the hit was, feel free to use both hands for at least 10 hard blows from each hand. Their face will look the same as your hands, if you break the glass keep swinging as they also feel the extra pain.

Chanting 'God dammit' might help

Whether he agrees with the procedure of becoming a Canadian citizen or not, you follow all the rules or go home. Many would like Canada to abolish the monarchy. Well that doesn't play a part in this situation.. At this point in time, you pledge alligence or you stay a landed immigrant,
