As an old news guy I kind of admired Lou. He was
an enigma, he supported American workers yet he
was much more to the right on other issues. The
biggest problem he had is that he was not willing
to think about compromise when it came to the
issue of immigration. Some say he hated Latinos
but that is not true, in fact his wife is a Mexican
American. Dobbs was against illegal immigration
from anywhere. When you think about it, if it were
Canada, why should people come here and take
advantage of medicare, pensions, the education
system, welfare, and seniors extended care.
You and I paid our dues as Canadians and if the
immigrants pay theirs they are entitled to the
benefits, if they came here illegally and shared
they would weaken the programs for those who
paid their share and are entitled.
I maintain Dobbs did nothing wrong in the cross
boarder debate. I do not however agree with
racial profiling and singling out those who are
citizens. Dobbs is both left and right and that
bothers almost everyone. Dobbs was in favour
of American companies staying here and not
going overseas. There is clearly two side to this
guy. I didn't like his initial support for Bush Though.
