MONTREAL — A road-widening project in Laval, Que., is mired in so many delays, a hydro pole that was left in the middle of the expanded street is still there a year later.
Work on Saint-Elzear Blvd. isn't expected to wrap up until 2017 — a year behind schedule.
Last year, QMI Agency reported that four hydro poles were left in the middle of what will be the widened roadway — fresh asphalt was even packed down around them. Now a year later, one of the hydro poles is still standing.
The municipality admits it made a mistake but says the pole isn't slowing down the work.
Nonetheless, some business owners have lost their patience.
"It's hell. We don't invite clients here anymore, we go to them," said Normand Lacombe, owner of Solarium Montreal on Saint- Elzear Blvd.
He said there's barely any traffic on the street because motorists are fed up.

this particular incident is very obvious to the general public but this kind of stuff happens all the time. There is so little communication and coordination between infrastructure partners.

THey are not in charge of the project, the city is. Typical city planing. It is up to the owner(in this case the city) to organize the work schedule for contractors. Clearly the city engineer is not able to carry out this simple task.

Power company owns the right of way the poles run down not the city. Did the city get permission to **** with their right of way?

Lolz....if it was such a simple task, stuff like this would be rare. It's not. You can blame the city engineer if you want but oversimplifying things is rarely helpful when it comes to complex problem solving
