I always get a laugh when people try to compare a comedian with a political commentator. If the right wing nutters are going to to compare Bill Maher to anybody, it should be Dennis Miller.

Bill Maher is NOT a political commentater???

LOL!!!

You ain't been listening.

Boy, you'd make a great member of the Inquisition.

I could fashion thumbscrews for you to use in your calling. Excellent for recantations.

PS

Remember, Vatican 2 said all rites Eastern and Western (Latin being but one), are equal. Time for you to brush up.

PS to Bluebyrd,
Coldstream's views are not representative.

What I can't understand is why Catholics on these discussion boards don't challenge him. Superstitious fear?

The original topic dealt, in general terms, with the nature and responsibility of human sexuality, which differs fundamentally from animalistic sexuality. No other 'species' accords the mystique, symbolism, identity or moral character to sexuality that humans do. No other 'species' is able to apply its own will to control sexuality to respond to these purposes. The problem with the Winnipeg Agreement is it capitulated totally to the animalistic nature of sexuality, denying human responsibility and free will to define it. It was an outrageous denial of fundamental Catholic and Christian principles.

All religions have sought to define sexuality in the realm of divine gift, and contained with in the precepts of love and family. When churches seek to reduce the importance of sexuality, they have foregone their founding impulse. That's true of the Anglican Church, which allowed artificial contraception starting with their Lambeth Congress in 1930. This set in motion a momentum that saw all forms of sexuality and their consequences.. homosexuality, extra-marital sex, open divorce, abortion.. not only allowed but celebrated as 'human rights'. The Anglican Church is now in free fall in substance and membership. If current trends continue it will cease to exist by the middle of this century. One of the major sources of converts to the Catholic Church is now former Anglicans who are fed up with the amorphous gelitan that its moral standards have become.

Remember, Vatican 2 said all rites Eastern and Western (Latin being but one), are equal. Time for you to brush up

Vatican 2, by the way, stated no such thing. Although it invited those in schism with the True Church, that of the apostolic succession of Peter, to unite under its banner. It has offered to respect their organization and clerical traditions, providing they don't conflict with Catholic canon law and theology, and provided it submits to the primacy of the Holy Pontiff. That offer remains open. Keep in mind that there is a renegade movement within the Catholic Church, steeped in New Age psuedo paganism that has usurped the 'spirit' of Vatican 2 to its own purposes, ignoring completely its literal documents. These were well represented in the Winnipeg Statement.

But that's nothing new. Great enterprises always elicit great opposition. And it is that opposition that was present in the Winnipeg Statement of Canadian Conference of Bishops. There are an alarming number of weak bureacrats in the espiscopacy.. but they are outweighed by the good and faithful bishops, on which the future of Catholic Church depends.

she can "guarantee good health if she keeps her legs together".

No problem... And yes, as per Fluke's adamant demands for c-o-n-t-r-a-c-e-p-t-i-o-n, keeping her legs shut will guarantee that she not get preggo

That would be a good idea if the side affects effects, efficacy and costs of chemotherapy were similar to the pill but really, that is for another discussion. For now, we are not done discussing your miracle cure for all that ails women.

B..b...b..but, aren't you're exclusively and uber concerned about ovarian cancer, right?... That would be a helluva more effective program, and seeing how it's about Fluke's health - and money is no object - why do you make these pathetic excuses?

Do you not care about Sandra's ovaries?

You didn't say "preggo" you said good health. Do you consider pregnancy a disease?

I'm not exclusively concerned about anything to do with Fluke. Unlike you, I really could not care less if she keeps her legs together or not, nor am I concerned whether she gets the pill through her insurance. In the same vein, I don't care whether your insurance company pays for your Viagra. My interest in this story is simply in how a bunch of old men get their panties twisted because a young woman gets some action.

But again, we are getting sidetracked. I really want to hear about how keeping ones legs together guarantees good health.

As far as we can tell so far.

You mean it illustrates that humans are simply humans with quirks, traits, and characteristics and can be misguided, gullible, erroneous, mean, etc. sometimes in their lives? Yeah, it's obviously screwy.

All religions have sought to define sexuality in the realm of divine gift, and contained with in the precepts of love and family.
You mean most religions have. Some simply view sexuality as just another bodily function.

Talk to Fluke on that - she is the one that is lobbying for c-o-n-t-r-a-c-e-p-t-i-v-e-s.

Are ya starting to get it yet?

Au contraire mon frere - you're getting your thong all twisted out of shape simply because you're a troll.

Too funny - the CC poster that is the leader in deflection and obfuscation cries foul.

I'll be laughing about that one for a long, long time

Well.........I don't think most women would hesitate a millisecond before they called a man a pr ick.

Exactly what is the difference?

My point was the pro Obama bunch are allowed to abuse the female opposition, but it is get out the tar and feathers if a Republican dares!!!!

Hmmm.,...does your experience with women perhaps reflect your reality?? Maybe you need to make a few changes.

US republicans put the world in the bankrupsy state it is in now. Those associated with that role need to share the manure, male or female. Because a country's currency was the standard for the world, doesn't mean it can be printed without assets to back it up
.
What happens when more and more countries demand payment in other currencies than the American (which is already happening!)

Anyway, none of this has anything to do with Sandra Fluke having the courage to put herself in the way of those with religious or sexual control issues.

Making every child a wanted one, only seem sensible to me. It is about family planning in a time during world overpopulation and want. From the number of unwanted pregnancies and most of the middle class vanishing, it seems the present system certainly isn't working. It is about time to make sure contraception is freely available to all who want or need it.

What kind of a warped sense of humour is this!!

You don't have to spell contraceptives......it is not a sin, nor a dirty word. Resorting to name calling in place of a rebuttal, does not cover up ignorance. It is surprising how many can separate fact from fiction Fluke is not a lobbiest, she is well enough off to not only pay for her own contraceptives AND the inadequate insurance forced on her by the University. She was speaking on behalf of those who were not as well situated as she is. Changing Universities in many cases is not an option.

Don't have any experience with women. Been married 36 years...lol

You really need to get your facts straight. In EIGHT years George W. Bush increased the US debt load by 2.27 TRILLION dollars. That was a monstrous disaster, I agree......but in THREE years Obama has increased the debt load by FOUR TRILLION dollars....

The Democrats are increasing the debt load at a rate almost five times that of the Republicans.

WHO is printing money????

Here's an idea: Lobby Obama to pass legislation that every child must be wanted or else.

It got spelled-out because maybe, just maybe you nanny-state dependents will get the idea that Fluke's diatribe focused on c-o-n-t-r-a-c-e-p-t-i-o-n and not primarily on ovarian cancer.

Holy crap, for the second time, you can't use chemotherapy as a prophylactic cancer treatment...the chemicals don't prevent unregulated cell growth from happening in the future...they kill cells, including healthy cells. It's a therapy, not a preventative treatment. It would be unethical to give someone something that toxic without a good reason. It's nasty stuff.

She mentioned both you twit, and she referred to the OIM report which contans more than just ovarian cancer risks and contraception.

You are constantly rambling....but with the last paragraph you're off the wall....
Nobody is forcing her to take anything!!!!!
Would you take an aspirine if you don't have a headache?
I'm pretty sure you could use some Razadyne,,,,

Now, I am assuming you have had experience with and have used Razadyne (whatever that is). So,I am declining in case it produces a similar religiously biased, warped attitude towards affording any sort of fair and reasonable treatment to more than half the population.

I am done explaining that restricting access to a medication, can make in the lives of not just women, but men and babies a tragedy. Empathy (the ability to put oneself in the place of another) is not possible when facing a mind emmeshed in a cement wall of prejudice.

s-a-r-c-a-s-m.... I know I didn't use purple, but I'd have thought that the suggestion was extreme enough for those with a limited grasp on reality to understand.

Keep telling yourself that Einstein, I guess that's why Fluke refers to contraception endlessly throughout the presentation as opposed to women's health as the issue.

Get back to me when you make the decision to live in the real world and leave your fantasy-land of academia and theoretical 'what ought to be' philosophy behind.

Maher Defends Limbaugh’s Right to Free Speech, Calls Comparison Between the Two ‘False Equivalency’

Comedian Bill Maher on Friday addressed the ongoing Rush Limbaugh controversy, following a week of comparisons between Limbaugh’s “****” remark about a Georgetown Law student and the litany of vulgar comments Maher has made about women himself, including calling former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin a “c–t.”

Maher prefaced his comments on his HBO show “Real Time with Bill Maher” by saying he “didn’t ask” to find himself in the news. Guest and former Republican National Committee chair Michael Steele cut in: “You wrote a check, brother” — referring to the $1 million donation Maher recently made to a pro-President Barack Obama super PAC, which some have called to be returned in light of Obama’s public scolding of Limbaugh.

“I got crap from both the left and the right this week,” Maher began, adding that he found the the reaction from the left “disheartening.”
He continued, “I tweeted that people like Rush Limbaugh — who I absolutely disagree with, I’ve never said a good word about him, I did a whole monologue about what an a–hole he is — I said I don’t like it that people are made to disappear when they say something, or people try to make them disappear when they say something you don’t like. That’s America, sometimes you’re made to feel uncomfortable.”

Asking for the Limbaugh controversy to be put in perspective, Maher added: “No one died. A guy made a bad joke. A bad joke because it was a disgusting sentiment that he was evoking, and also because it wasn’t even a joke. He’s a stupid fat f–k who’s not funny.”

“It annoys me that people who cannot keep to dispirit thoughts in their own mind lump me in together with him and say I’m defending him. I’m not defending him, I‘m defending living in a country where people don’t have to be afraid that they might go out of the bounds for one minute,” he said.

To prove his point, he read a quote from the American Civil Liberties Union, which said it is “easy to defend freedom of speech when the message is something many people find reasonable, but the defense of freedom of speech is most critical when the message is one most people find repulsive.”

“I would rather put up with Rush Limbaugh and live in a country where we all do have freedom of speech and the people who I’ve heard say you know what, when they put pressure on his sponsors the system is working,” Maher said. “No it’s not, that’s the system being manipulated.”

Regarding criticism he received this week from the right, Maher said that whenever a conservative gets in trouble, “they trot me out” — something he said is a “false equivalency.”

“I am a potty mouth. That’s different from a misogynist. I will admit to being a potty mouth,” he said. “If I offended women I’m sorry, I have no problem saying I’m sorry.

About his specific comments about Palin, Maher added: “I don’t know why women would want to ally themselves with Sarah Palin, I don’t know why an insult to her is an insult to all women, but if it is I’m sorry.”

He then moved on to a different topic he said was truly misogynistic: An anti-abortion bill that just passed the Arizona state senate that would make it legal for doctors to lie about an unborn child’s potential birth defects, which some have said would be a way to trick patients into not opting for an abortion.

Watch a portion of Maher’s discussion below — content warning, strong language. Full clip available at Mediaite.

I also see the pro contraceptive(read pill) crowd completely ignored the link I left showing the health risks of taking the pill, which include elevated risk of liver cancer, elevated risk of hypertensive diseases, DVT's, breast cancer....................

Oh my goodness, look at that. Women are having problems getting pregnant after they stop using the pill...shock shock shock

Pill can delay a baby far longer than you want - Telegraph

Another thing that blows me away about these brain dead atheists.... some of the best educational institutions in the world are "Christian", and we have idiots in here making statements that the RCC should get the hell out of education.
