How arrogant people are, they set themselves above all
other living things on the earth to begin with, then they
spout some sort of drivel about coming back to live again,
another life, give me a break. We are all animals of the
earth, live our lives just like all other living species,
and die when it is done, 'allowing' new life to come aboard,
and we step aside.

We pass our genes on to our offspring, which allows our
species to continue living on earth, just like all other
species, there is no need to be so selfish that you insist
on coming back, and interferring with those that followed,
and you don't come back, I know it is difficult to deal
with the fact that you are only here for a number of years,
but, be brave and accept that fact, and live your lives
with class, and leave with class, without clinging and
insisting that you are 'coming' back.

I dunno but that post seemed to be just as much.
Who the hell really knows what happens. I have my views but I wouldn't make a bet on it till I am there.

Nothing else could possibly happen, UNLESS you believe in
angels, fairy tales, soles, gods, flying off into the
space of the universe, devils, hell, heaven, and for me
that is all makebelieve.

So, because I don't believe in all of the above, I do
know. We spend eternity in the earth, our home.

Really, what is the point of believing or not. All we have is the here and now. All that other stuff is just entertainment. We can't possibly know what will be, but we can influence what comes next by how we treat the now.

And that believe is no more valid then what others believe.

And that believe is no more valid then what others believe.

It just makes more sense, than imagining that part of us
fly off into space to be recovered again, now that is
typical wishful thinking.

Of course no one will ever come back to tell us anything,
they are in the earth forever.

I will always go with logic and sensible and realistic,
before I will go with what people would 'like' to happen,
which makes them feel more comfortable, because nothing
has ever proven or suggested that we do anything else but
stay in the ground, so it is up to those who think we leave
the ground, to prove such a thing, because we actually see
a person buried, or whatever else we do with them, and
no one has ever seen the other, or heard from anyone who
came back.
It's just a nice thing to think just before you nod off,
oh well, doesn't matter I will be coming back, so long. Balderdash.

Life comes from the Mother. Father is just a sperm donor. The god of the bible and Quran is an interloper trying to steal the lime light from the true creator of life.

When my daughter was little,(age 6), we sent her to catholic sunday
school, (catachism)sp.?, she came home one sunday, and looked at us and said. "I found out today that you and
daddy aren't my real mom and dad, that god is my real dad.

What an eye opener that was. There were many things I recalled at that moment proving to me who the parents were.
That religion was trying to drag her young mind away from
her true family, and trap it into the world of makebelieve, and she would become a slave of guilt and obligation to the
church.
We spent quite a bit of time explaining to her, the difference between what the church was trying to make
her believe, and reality, and I must say that today at
age 47 she is quite realistic and 'gets it',and is a well
adjusted intelligent woman.

Do you (or anyone) have to believe in a God or Gods and all of the
trappings, in order to believe in a soul?

I'm not sold on the God concept, but I keep an open mind. The soul
though may be (if it exists) something independent of Religion in
general and organized Religion specifically.

As far as only Humans having a soul (the self centered idea), why
would that be? I believe I've seen the spark of something in the
eyes of most animals I've seen. That's just me though, I guess.

I know what gives me comfort, and I don't push it on anyone else (as
I'm not interested in recruiting anyone), and it doesn't hurt anyone
including myself, but provides me with strength in times where I'm
dealing with things beyond what I think I'm capable of dealing with.

I have had times where I feel that others close to me that have passed
are still close to me, and it's very comforting in both good times & bad.

I believe there is something more (in a recycling sort of concept), but
I'm in no hurry to explore that idea first hand. If I'm wrong, then "Oh
well," but it provides me with something comforting in the here & now.

I don't fear death as I've seen it up close, and am good with it, but I'm
in no hurry to experience it myself. My parents both passed when I was
fairly young, and I had to figure out on my own how to deal with that.

An epiphany moment occurred when a Friend's dog's kidneys where
failing, and he was in much pain & discomfort. She (the dogs owner)
couldn't face putting him down on her own and called me. I took the little
guy in and held and comforted him through his last moments at the Vet.

Though it was a sad time of parting, I could feel him fade and relax as
the drugs took effect and he was finding peace in his last seconds before
he was gone. Death is nothing to fear, but the trip towards it is scary as
Hell. His eyes in those last seconds will be something I'll remember
forever, as fear and pain left to be replaced with gratitude and something
else that I can't really describe, but it wasn't a bad thing by any means.

When the time comes, it comes, and if there is something more, then I'll
enjoy that ride at that time. If there is nothing more, then I'm good with that
too as the release I saw with that little guy removed any fear I might have
held before that point.

While I believe that dead is dead and then you are dust, my wife believes in reincarnation and regression into past lives. Just not the jesus freak kind. According to her you could come back as an animal, bug, fish etc depending on how you lived your last life or two. So by her theory Hitler should have spent 10000 lives as a fly in a jewish out house.

So, instead of explaining to her that she had misinterpreted what she was being told, you instead chose to call the Church a liar and turn her away from it.
