Northern Ontario,
Sorry, I wasn't trying to say I would be a hero. I was saying that I don't consider heroism and dignity to be fantasties. More of a moral grounding--they are things I consider very important. Who knows, maybe I'd go all George Costanza and throw old ladies in the line of fire to protect myself.
Sorry if i misunderstood you.
Anyone who would face up to anyone with a gun has to be either close to the attacker and be well trained or has a death wish.
I was shot at while hunting, and it's true that you never hear the bullet that kills you because the two shots I heard came a split second after I heard a funny noise besides my head....My first instinct was to take a dive behind some bushes and then empty my clip (five shots) in the general direction of where the shots came from about 400 yards away. The shots came so close together that I surmised two hunters had mistaken me for game.
I did'nt get up and wave, but crawled to heavier timber, before reaching the next logging strip, and walk out to my truck...hunt was over for that day....
All that shooting had probably scared the two moose I was tracking.
My truck was well hidden in a small side road and when I drove out I saw where another vehicle had been parked so I guess I didn't hit anybody...lol
So I know that the first instinct when someone is shooting at you is to duck, and shoot back if you have a firearm, anyone foolish enough to face a rifle when unarmed at a distance..................................

Nonsense.

Cap'n has assured us that there will be a majority Con government beginning with Harper himself manning a steam roller to crush shiny pony on election day.

People predict the government they want, and when they predict minority governments with their party in power it's usually because they aren't willing to admit the possibility they could lose. All I'm seeing here is denial. This thread started and conservatives were in full denial (though they were right to say it's too early), now the tide is turning and liberals are pretending it's not - oh here comes the minority governments! And of course some people are predicting even greater conservative majorities.

The secret is to predict as many scenarios as possible and then bookmark the page. After the election, you pull out the most accurate and try to convince people you are an intelligent and knowledgable political pundit. Some people may actually fall for it.

As long as Justine keeps jamming his foot in his mouth each time he speaks, it will be Trudeau steam rolling himself.

... It's clear that you understand that the Cons will get a majority as per your desperate attempts in trying to convince yourself that a minority gvt is possible.

Bitter tears MF, bitter tears

When did 36% become "majority territory?" Is this a metric thing?

Conservatives formed a majority with 41% I think.

It's all about how thinly the winning vote spreads across each riding.

This makes the case for proportional representation, which would have a government in power that more accurately reflects the voters. PR would also prevent strategic voting, which is something the Ontario PCs suffered in the last election because everyone who was not Hudak went '**** that douchebag' and voted for Wynne even if she wasn't their first choice.

Has any government ever formed a majority with 36%? Trudeau formed a minority with 38% in 1972. And that was before the Bloc was taking votes in QC. No other minority government has done better since.

I don't think any government has formed majority with 36%.

Could be wrong though.
