Former B.C. premier Christy Clark is out of the race to replace Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, just days after she had to walk back a claim that she was never a member of the Conservative Party. Oh well.
She was half decent. With the help of Harper She got a lot of good shit done for BC.

Maybe once the fire department hits the dumpster fire that’s the federal liberals, & once it has some time to air out from the Trudeau stank, maybe she’ll look at Liberal (federal) politics again, on that note:

Government House Leader Karina Gould will launch a leadership bid this week, according to a “source” with knowledge of her plans. The 37-year-old would be the youngest candidate in the race.

Cabinet colleague Innovation Minister François-Philippe Champagne is expected to reveal his intentions later Tuesday morning during a talk to the Canadian Club Toronto.

Former finance minister and deputy prime minister Chrystia Freeland is expected to announce a bid for the Liberal leadership within the week, a source has told CBC News/Radio-Canada. “Sources” said to expect Freeland to officially make the announcement before U.S. president-elect Donald Trump is sworn in next Monday.

Former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney is expected to formally announce his bid Thursday, according to a “source” close to him.

(This “source” is busy-busy)

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson is still deciding and will not announce his plans this week, according to a source close to him.

Three others have actually said they’re running ‘cuz the clock is ticking…Nova Scotia MP Jaime Battiste said Monday that he would be seeking the leadership. Ottawa-area MP Chandra Arya and former Montreal MP Frank Baylis declared their intentions to run last week.

At $350K per bid, that is a lot of money coming in to the Lieberals. No doubt will help them finance the next election campain (what they don't do with taxpayer money of course).

The race to replace Justin Trudeau winnowed to just a few major contenders Tuesday, as more and more Liberals decide to stay on the sidelines in their party's coming leadership contest…as the entire nation waits as parliament is prorogued for this goat rodeo.

Still be hilarious. Rogan isn’t a fan of Trudeau, though he liked him more before the Ottawa parking situation, freezing of bank accounts, etc…

Trudeau would end up accusing Rogan of the same things he accused the Truckers of, etc…& be one of the shortest podcasts. Trudeau wouldn’t do it, but Rogan would be all over that I’m sure.
Etc…

There are hundreds of clips of Rogan slamming Trudeau. It wasnt just Rogan. It was media the world over ridiculing Trudeau and Canada. Not just biased media either.

It wasn't a chat with his bucktoothed kids that was the deciding factor. He was pushed out by the big money operations the world over.

Prime Minister Champagne sounds catchy.
Prime Minister Francois'-Philipe' Champagne sounds douchier than Justin Trudeau.

The past several years have been lean times for Liberals west of Ontario, but insiders are hoping that a spirited leadership race that happens to overweight western Liberal constituencies could be just the thing help the party rebuild bridges in the region after nearly more than a decade of frosty relations under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s leadership??? Really?

Vancouver-based Liberal strategist Mark Marissen noted that the party’s leadership vote’s rules, which give each electoral district 100 points, regardless of the number of members, tilt the system in favour of western ridings with smaller membership bases.

“The one thing that does happen is that you hear from everybody across the country… every riding has the same weight in this leadership race. So you’re going to hear a lot more from places where Liberals haven’t been elected,” said Marissen.

Corey Hogan, a Calgary-based strategist and former executive director of the Alberta Liberal Party, noted that the leadership’s race’s biggest names so far all have roots in Western Canada.

“You have Mark Carney (who still hasn’t officially announced if he’s running or not), Chrystia Freeland (who still hasn’t announced if she’s running or not) and Christy Clark (who’s announced thats she’s not running), all three of them grew up out West,” said Hogan. “Maybe there’s something there.”

North Vancouver, B.C., MP Jonathan Wilkinson is also rumoured to be weighing a leadership runbut he hasn’t announced if he’s running or not.

Notably, none of the major candidates that were expected to come from Quebec have materialized: Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon, Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly and Industry Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne have all declared they don’t intend to run???
It sure would be nice to know who’s actually going to be running, officially, seeing as Parliament is Prorogued, and the whole country is put on hold while this goat rodeo is taking place, as opposed to who’s not running…but Libs gotta Lib.

In an interview with The Daily Show host Jon Stewart, Carney didn’t definitively say he would launch a campaign for the leadership in the wake of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau but he did say that a “hypothetical” outsider candidate was better positioned to run for the job while U.S. president-elect Donald Trump is threatening tariffs on Canadian goods.
Despite all the connections to Trudeau, to Freeland, to the Liberal Party, Carney is trying to run as an outsider.
Carney isn’t an outsider candidate to Trudeau though, not even theoretically.
“I am an outsider,” Carney said during an interview on The Daily Show on Monday night with Jon Stewart.

But maybe he “self-identifies” as an outsider, & that’s his pronoun, so we must respect his…whatever?

Are the Liberals looking for a real leadership race to replace Justin Trudeau or a coronation to anoint Mark Carney?

That depends on who you are listening to inside the Liberal Party, because while Carney’s campaign says they are simply seeking the support of members, other Liberals say the current boss is putting his thumb on the scale to make sure the new boss is Carney.
Shortly after Carney’s term as Governor of the Bank of England ended in March 2020, Carney moved back to Ottawa and was advising the Trudeau government on the economy in the midst of the pandemic.

His role would grow to being appointed as Chair of a Leader’s Task Force on Economic Growth last September, but Shhhh…Trudeau’s team is fully in on Carney, he is the next incarnation of Justin Trudeau’s term in office no matter how much they wish to dispute it.

The following people with connections to Trudeau have been tied to Carney’s campaign by fellow Liberals — Gerry Butts, Mike McNair, Brian Clow, Tom Pitfield and, of course, his Chief of Staff Katie Telford. Through the PMO comms team, Telford has denied making calls for Carney but multiple independent Liberals swear the calls took place…but again, Shhhhh…

Trudeau announced on Jan. 6 his intention that he would step down as Liberal leader eventually once the party picks a new head honcho. Apparently, he didn’t promise not to put his thumb on the scale, which is what he has done.

What is the pronoun for an outsider? Might I suggest "stranger?" As in "Howdy, stranger."
