Don't you remember this case?
The father and son both were fighting in Afghanistan. The father was killed. The son lobbed bombs at U.S. soldiers. That's why he was sent to Gitmo.
As a Canadian citizen he was sent back here. His family still lives in Toronto, but 'hates Canada' as the mother has blatantly stated.

I think he and his whole famned damily should have been deported back to where ever they came from in the first place!
Now thanks to our ***** laws, he's free and he's a millionaire too at taxpayers expense.

Jeez! We should all go somewhere in the Mid-east and lob a few bombs and get to be millionaires!

You may well be right, but unless we know first hand every last detail, it's hard to make judgments based on media reports.

Appeal Court Justice Myra Bielby said the government had failed to prove his release would cause serious harm to Canadian interests or pose a risk to the public.
His release came with a list of restrictions including a curfew and wearing a tracking bracelet.
Riiiight, because that's what you do with harmless people.

So, tell me, he's been out for how long? What "threats" has he posed?

He has the media spotlight and your tax money, he'd be stupid to pull anything now....

The question is more does he deserve to be free. I don't think so.

Don't care how old he was when he committed the murders, he should be in jail.

It's just the usual PC bunch and Islamist supporters that want to see him free, like you.

Ottawa Citizen Reporter Gives Omar Khadr A Blowjob Same Day Al Qaeda Kills 6 Canadians

Studying, skiing, going to the mall: Omar Khadr settles into his new life!

Boston 'dreamy haired' bombers didn't pose a prior threat either. neither the clowns that just killed 7 Canadians in the last few days. Or even the next Tabulah Babaganoosh, owner of Happy Jihad One-Way Truck Rentals.

get real man.

Being there to see for ourselves a guy fighting for the terrorists is not an option.
People don't as a rule 'just wander into a combat zone' unless they are fighting.
This guy was 15 years old, old enough to say 'no' to his father and refuse to go to Afghanistan. He deserves to be treated like the militant he was. He is a traitor.

For how long would you recommend the punishment continue?

Does that matter, or are you suggesting that Khadr was performing a valuable service to the people of Afghanistan by accidentally killing and maiming them?

I am not trying to defend Khadr specifically but there comes a day when you have to quit trying to "even up the score" and get on with constructive things, which I'm sure Omar is capable of.

No real point in having any prisons I guess as Khadr isn't the only murderer, rapist or butcher that might have the potential of being constructive.

Glad to see that you have the flexibility to invoke 2 separate systems of law and subjective ideas about punishment

But you have...........throughout this thread......

More the system - I thought the thread was done until it arose again yesterday. Apparently someone had unfinished business with me. We lock up second degree murderers for 10 years..........................does Omar deserve more?

Quick, down to the basement and under the coffee table.

You're just an idiot. Not much more can be said aside from that. Well, maybe to suggest you take the same advice I gave to boomer. Not that I think either one of your hate filled pea brains would be able to figure it out.

My great uncle was a child soldier: born in 1900, signed up in 1915, on the Somme in 1916.

So, he lied about his age. Of course, you wouldn't be able to see the difference.

and about all that proves, is stupidity is hereditary.

BTW, Kahdr was 15 when he was captured. This means he was a fu ck of a lot younger when he was brought over there and when his indoctrination began.

I'd have more sympathy for him, if at the age of 13 he didn't abandon his father to seek out a more aggressive Islamic education.

At 13, many males start showing their "independence". At this time, I would expect that Kahdr would have taken one of 2 roads to show his independence from his Father. A more moderate road or a more aggressive road. Considering where he was at that time, not in Canada, the more aggressive road would have been an easier choice for him to show he was "his own man". It all comes down to what he was taught, and what he had for choices at the different stages of his life.

It looks to me, like he is trying to keep his nose clean and turn his life around. This is the opportunity he should have been given as soon as he was captured.
