Like it or not, Omar Khadr was enlisted into this as a child and his actions were molded by a bunch of crazy people.
He freely left his father and sought out more aggressive and militant training on his own. That shows he was operating on his own.

He should have been given a three round facial in the combat theatre I say.

I don't see Omar Khadr as any real threat.
I agree.

One can be right and be an a$$hole at the same time.
True, I do it all the time.

The Harper CONS should not assume CSIS or the American military and courts always get it right........

Ottawa has reached a $10-million settlement with Maher Arar over Canada's role in a U.S. decision to deport him to Syria, where he was jailed and tortured.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper is scheduled to make the settlement announcement on Friday afternoon, when he will also issue a formal apology to Arar on behalf of Canadians.Sources told the CBC the government will also pick up Arar's legal fees.

Arar received a unanimous apology from the House of Commons after the report's release.

However, the Conservative government later drew a distinction between a parliamentary apology and an official government apology, calling it the former.

At the time, the prime minister acknowledged that Arar had suffered a "tremendous injustice."

Earlier this week, U.S. Ambassador David Wilkins criticized Ottawa's efforts to haveArar removed from a United States security watch list, sayingWashington alone will decide who to let into the country.

Speaking in Edmonton after meeting with new Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach, Wilkins warned Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day to back off because a U.S. review determined Arar should remain on the watch list.

"It's a little presumptuous for him [Day] to say who the United States can and cannot allow into our country," Wilkins told reporters Wednesday.

The ambassador reiterated that the U.S. found its own reasons to keep Arar on the watch list.

Yes it is old news and not only because the article is dated 2007 but I actually recall the whole case.

The point of the post is to remind those aligning themselves with Harper and wanting Khadr imprisoned for life based on some American Military's claims is that errors in judgement do happen.

And there is one politicians name I do recognize. You would have thought he would have learned something from that case..........

One can just align oneself against a known terrorist without necessarily aligning themselves with Harper. I personally don't think there is anything more that can be done. He has served a majority of his 8 year sentence. Hopefully they will be able to catch him the next time he kills. Then we can throw the book at him.

What is a "known terrorist"? Sounds like someone is telling me what I know! Maybe you "know" he's a terrorist! Let's see your evidence.

Pleaded guilty in a court of law. And its not like they just grabbed him off the streets of Mississauga while he was picking tulips. I really can't believe you can be this gullible at your age.

There is a huge difference between being gullible and not knowing! The protocol in Guantanimo is questionable to say the least. Water boarding apparently did occur there. What else went on there? What about confining people for years before a charge is laid or court proceeds?

You know? You were in Afghanistan when it went down? You are choosing to listen to a line of propaganda. Where there is smoke, there is usually fire. He was in Afghanistan doing what exactly?
