Retired Canadian Soldier when it come to Islam the hate does only come from the right.
There are several on the left that I know that are not all that tolerant either. In fact I too
am much less tolerant than I used to be. We do not take into consideration that some
of the practices in that culture are not religious they are custom and it drives me nuts
when people say we all have to be tolerant of religious practices and dress when some
are not religious at all. It clouds how people feel about this group in our midst.
They are as Canadian as any other group if they are born here or they have papers saying
they are Canadian. We have to use common sense. Ignoring them is as bad as attacking
them, we have to include them yes but immigrants in general have to be willing to participate
in Canadian society. All too often that doesn't happen.
I have no problem being inclusive. Those you refer too, not the religious ones, but the obsessive ones who haven't come to Canada for a new life, but to use it as a command post to raise money for terrorist groups abroad. Not unlike some of the Irish who sent money home to fund the IRA. I am of Irish descent, came from a Catholic background, my Grandparents came here on a boat, my Uncle was one of the little immigrants sent to Canada to work on a farm. Going through the genealogy of my family was an interesting take on often discriminatory actions, but most persevered. I am quite proud of my Irish heritage and of my family, although I'm not a Catholic and swore off the Church's rather archaic view when it tossed my Mom out for divorcing the man who beat her up and eventually tried to kidnap and murder her. But I'm still proud of my heritage and I do not begrudge the Catholics on here or anyone else. One thing you will not find me do is give a wink and a nod to those who supported Terrorism in Northern Ireland.
So when you say we need to be inclusive I say. Absolutely, but that inclusiveness comes with a condition that those who want to be included obey our laws, do not use us to raise money for terrorist groups and most of all respect the rights of all Canadians, be they male, female, gay, transgender.
Unfortunately, there are people who will suspend that which they claim to embrace by cozying up these groups to try and gain political real estate. These are the people who will cry day and night about Human Rights about Injustice while turning a blind eye to those they seek approval from. Bottom line: Justin Trudeau is lightweight with a very narrow view and is willing to embrace a group that has been connected to Hamas in order to score a few votes. This isn't anything new, but it doesn't make it any less wrong. He is akin to the Queers Against Israeli Apartheid, idiots who lash out at the only Country in the Middle east that recognizes Gay Equality.
I don't see much of a difference from the A-Hole IRA supporters and the A-Hole Hamas supporters except for the fact that they fund terror and if someone barks about the former I don't feel in the slightest excluded, because I am a Canadian.
