Even easier when we are all retards in one box.

It was, Basically white people said. I'm not ashamed of being white. Even if being white is sopposedly something you should be ashamed of.

If you're a man and white, you should spend the rest of your life asking everyone for forgiveness.
You white bastid ye should be put in the stocks in the town square for what ye did.

I understand your bent, DB but the idea of home-schooling is impractical. And let's face it, a look around this forum would argue against the wisdom of such a plan.

Impracticle or imperitive, let the state mold children or let parents mold children. Practicle by what standards? Where's the benchmark?

Do we want to expend them at Verdun II?

How will they gather your firewood with missing limbs? At best it will be slower. But you advanced them on the board anyway.

Impractical because it would mean that millions of Canadians would be forced to quit their jobs in order to provide home-schooling. But let's just say for arguments sake that your idea should stand. What are we going to do about those folks who have neither the wherewithal nor the intellectual ability to provide home-schooling? What happens to those kids?

Here's a link to the orginal editorial I quoted from in the opening post:

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/the-problem-with-fake-news-is-not-supply-its-demand/article32924694/

Now that It's being widely published what a big part that social media and blatantly fake "news" stories played in the recent election this is an increasingly interesting topic. It's being reported that some of the authors of these bits of internet sensationalism made the equivalent of twenty years' wages in their home countries with "pay per click" contracts lasting a couple of months. What concerns me most is the number of people willing to lap this **** up. The editorial points out that the authors are not the problem, it's the consumer. As long as there is a thirst for this stuff it will keep appearing, and it's a concern that there are people who actually believe it when it's coming from a source masquerading as a credible news source. The demand for journalistic integrity is waning, and thus the supply.

Or the effect of social media...where having an opinion is more important than having sufficient knowledge to form an intelligent opinion? Never let facts get in the way of a good story. :)

Actually there is very little new about this. Traditional print media once featured dozens of different newspapers that promoted certain narrow viewpoints. Hence the existence of papers like the Völkischer Beobachter of the German Nazi party and the Daily Worker or the Communist Party. I can remember looking at the newspaper of the Social Credit Party when I was attending school in Alberta. Even as a teenager I recognized its racist anti-democratic tone. All that is happening now is that the internet and social media like Facebook have made it much easier to set up alternative news sites.

But it's such a good talking point for the trumpites who would rather just yell at CNN than actually take a critical look at stories from all sources.

It's not the right or the left, everybody has a stake in the game. The Globe and Mail and the National Post both have their political leanings, but from what AI see that is reflected more in their choice of what to cover and how to cover it. Neither will publish blatantly false information. The proliferation of media outlets who don't have any responsibility to the truth, or perhaps even see the end result as justifying any means to get there, they are worthy of concern, but mostly the problem lays with the users. It's like blaming McDonald's for obesity, it kind of misses the mark.

This week Christiane Amanpour, CNN's Chief International Correspondent, accepted the Burton Benjamin Memorial Award from the Committee to Protect Journalists with this speech:

Audio | CBC Radio

It goes on for close to nine minutes, but is worth the listen for some excellent points she makes, most notably the general public's growing willingness to accept anything they hear as truth without a moment's consideration for the veracity of the information.

There are factors that make it impossible to sort through what people hear and see to determine 'truth'.
One is the rapid way of speaking that is so popular. Another is the instant flicks that pass before our eyes.
When listening or looking, it takes the brain a moment to absorb and digest what is being heard and seen. When sounds and visuals are speeded up the effect on the brain is like a paper jam in a printer. Nothing gets through.
Christiane Amanpour is one who speaks normally and clearly, giving the listener the ability to understand what she is saying. Unfortunately many other reporters words are thrown out rapidly and strung together without punctuation like machine gun fire. Nobody can make head nor tail out of what they are saying.

The key to the AGW scam is ignorance. When media claims it is the warmest year on record, they make no mention of records only starting 110 years ago and that they start at the end of the coldest point in modern man's history.

When still haven't cracked the 6000 year average (if we ever do).

You are spot on. People don't seem to have the ability to question and think any more. Furthermore, as soon as someone disagrees, they demonize and insult the other person, without ever considering that there might be some bits of validity to the other perspective.
