The promised Conservative jobs will come sometime after 2014 and you too can
burgers at a new fast food outlet. Harper could be toast, he was promising pie in
the sky when you die. Layton wants to start now. Think about it, both are making
the promise of a better tomorrow its just that Layton would in fact start to do something
positive now.

The MP in my riding is NDP Peter Stoffer. I think Mr Stoffer has ran and been elected for the past 3 elections. He has always been very vocal against the long gun registry.

Last year, he flip flopped, and voted against the private members bill to destroy the long gun registry. And he used 'I need to represent my voters' to explain his actions.

After years of Peter Stoffer being vocal against the long gun registry, and his voters still supporting him, I don't believe him.

I lived right next door to his riding and if he indeed voted as those he represent wanted him to, then I applaude him for his actions..... we need more people who will do the will of the people over what they think is best for us.... we don't need more dictators, we need representatives, even if those they represent are ignorant.

If they're ignorant, then he and others in his position need to educated and inform those he represents..... and if that doesn't work, then obviously he and others like him didn't do a good enough job of informing.

N.D.P. are doing very well- they could conceivably win 50 seats, although 40-45 would be more realistic- they will probably cost the Bloc a couple and the Liberals the rest. It's starting to look like Harper will get a majority.

The Provincial NDP when elected in Nova Scotia sure started right away, and were honest and straight-forward with information when they couldn't, regardless of people getting PO'd..... People got PO'd when they raised the taxes here in order to try and help pay off the huge debt the Cons left Nova Scotia in..... but it was either raise the tax, or cut a bunch of jobs and funding for needed programs. And I'm sorry to say, but I'd rather be paying a higher tax then ending up unemployed...... at least I still have a job, I can still pay for things and the debt is still going down.

this is good news for canada, jack has paid his dues for years, is a seasoned political veteran, knows
the ropes, and will think of the regular guy on he street once in a while, and not try to screw us
as the others have for years, a nice balance with harper, and layton as the opposition, i'm looking
forward to that, didn't think I would ever see it happen.

There's nothing funnier, than a post that opens with "Fear mongering conservative propaganda.". Only to be followed by fear mongering and paranoia.

Not unless it's factual, true and backed up with real evidence.

Here's something I don't get with people opposed to the NDP getting power:

This would be the first time they get to run the show (if things end up that way)...... yet people worry about them screwing everybody over, cutting jobs and the big booga "socialism"

This is their first and one-time chance to prove to not just their supporters, but also their critics that they can do the job..... do these people really think they're going to screw it up?

Think about it.

If they screw up their very first chance at running the show.... they won't get a second chance for another 20-30 years, thus they & Layton will do their very best at running a very tight operation and staying on the line in order to do the job right. They will do their best to not just please those who voted for them, but to please their critics & other party supporters in order to gain more support when the next election comes along.

That's the only thing Con & Liberal supporters are worried about..... they're worried that the NDP will actually do a better job then what they've been doing for the last 100 years or so and thus, rarely ever get a chance to run the show again until they clean up their act.....

..... and cleaning up their act is more work then continuing to be corrupt, lying and playing the same old games they always played with each other.

Like I said.... if the NDP screw up, then vote them out in the next election and don't worry about them for another generation or more.

It's not like they can do a worse job then what the Cons & Libs have already done.

Yep, Jack looks and sounds good at this point..........he's telling Canadians what they want to hear and I have no doubt the man has some integrity but like 99.9% of politicians he will likely shake out like the rest of them eventually. Hope I'm not sounding pessimistic.

Working in a bar disqualifies him from being a politician? Does one need to be a shyster lawyer or economist to play the game?

What's funny is the sheer arrogance of the cons on this site proclaiming Lil Stevie emperor never thinking that people were looking for a third option.

Will Jack be PM.....nope....but he could form the official opposition which suits me just fine.

A party about social justice and supporting the middle class and poor.

It is likely however that people change their mind when they get in the voting booth like they did in the 2005 election....or whenever Martin got his minority government.

It will be the most interesting election in a long time, that's for sure.

It won't be Ignazieff or Harper.

Harper still has to face the contempt he was found guilty of.

If you've been found guilty of contempt of parliament you simply can't hold the office. It says so right in the Election Act but lets not stray away from the reason we are voting.

Oh wait. Being found guilty of contempt IS the reason for the election.
