Maybe so ... but either way he wouldn't be homeless
Well done, you. You've put up a spirited defence of Canada's "let them die" health care system. You will perhaps forgive us if we decline to adopt it.

Maybe we should adopt Germany's. . . nah, we'd just have Canadians flooding over the border trying to live.

That would explain why we live longer on average than you guys do.

No, I put that down to the well-known phenomenon that "only the good die young."

That makes no sense whatsoever. You think everyone in health care works for free, and all the medical supply companies are non profits?
That's right. This is the kind of "fact" that makes the health-care debate so much fun!

You'll note that when I pointed out his error, just as you did, wolfie didn't bother to admit or correct it, he just barreled on to his next "fact."

...amd you have given an excellent example of "look over there" in defense of letting the less fortunate suffer

"...and all men are created equal..."

Put up the link where I actually turn my eyes away from the problems, troll
Post #55, where you not only turn your eyes away, but in your haste to bash Americans you actually make the preposterous claim that in Canada nobody profits from other folks' suffering.

If the profits are so great, why are they subsidized? The point is, nobody needs cash up front or private health insurance.

Don't tell me what I think. Feel free to interpret as you wish. Then you can be as wrong as you want. Just don't attribute your foggy thoughts to my head.

Has anyone ever done a credit check on you before you are admitted ... or visit the doctor? Have you ever had to mortgage the house come birthing time?

Sure, there are limits on what public health care will do - and they who can afford it can go where the care is more to their liking. We all know you know there are less fortunte people in this country - just the same as the rest of the world. We've all heard the griping about "my tax dollars"

Say what? Can you explain how you got to the above from your idea that Canada's health care system is non profit?

...a response to trollish sarcasm on post before. Your shit is scent-free Bones?

BTW.... Cancer research isn't a Canada-only phenomenon - and people still die of cancer

Of course they do. And in Canada, they set up a gigantic, incredibly expensive bureaucracy to keep people from dying of cancer, and people die of cancer.

Difference is I want to implement an effective health-care system. You just want to sneer at Americans and turn your eyes away from the problems in yours.

The United States is no longer competent enough to put an effective AND FAIR health-care system together. It will never happen.

The american system is COD for actual treatment where our canuck system blindly pays treatment costs submitted by docs/hosps out of taxes, some docs have had their wee wrists slapped for reaching too deep into the public cookie jar. However if we survive long enough to need assisted living our system copies the american model COD, the trick here is to survive the wait lists to get accepted into a fairly decent facility if you have the $$$$....some fail the wait challenge.

I've opted for the Gamma Nano Knife as opposed to surgery. Last Tuesday when I met the surgeon who would operate he explained the risks of going in but he wanted me to meet the Radiation surgeon at Sunnybrook to discuss that option as I am a good candidate for that.

Today (august 1) I met the team and they do indeed use this system and will on Aug 8. I have to go back today for an another MRI and a fitting of a helmet/mask that they use in the procedure.

He said they have been using this tech (nano) for 4 years with excellent results. I was tempted to mention the controversy we saw last year but I just listened. I re-read the articles about Mayor Hector and noticed the following ;

The 58-year-old has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and even though we have IRE Nano Knife equipment here to go in and kill the tumour, he and others are not eligible.
He can go to Kentucky but that would be $300,000 — the Ontario government won’t pay because he’s been labeled Stage 4 cancer (even though in Kentucky and here in Kingston, they call it Stage 2).

Seems the classification of the cancer was/is controversial which is a big issue on it's own and of course determines as to whether you get the treatment at all.

I'm guessing someone at a Toronto Lab determined he was Stage 4. as opposed to 2.

Of course his case was the Pancreas which may be more difficult to zap How it was explained is it's basically a laser beam attached to a Cat Scan machine that is pin point fine and they can maneuver it to kill the cancer.

The Doctor told me he has a few YouTubes but they are teaching videos and don't actually show the procedure but at the 16:50 and 32 minute marks there are a few shots of the machine........

Trent Hills mayor who pushed for access to pancreatic cancer treatment has died

Hector Macmillan was denied OHIP funding to access a trial program for a procedure called Irreversible Electroporation outside Canada, and did not mince words, accusing the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care of murdering him.

Sad to hear.

I cannot imagine the frustration and fear going through his mind, or anyone else's for that matter, upon learning that you have a terminal condition. I'd be screaming for help too.
