Please do not even consider bringing back the death penalty until long after all my crimes are discovered

Yeah, it's funny how the mass media fuelled hysteria on crime make some people lose all perspective on things.
I keep telling people that the US have the death penalty and their crime rate is about 10 times ours. Obviously, it's not a deterrent.

I would definitely reinstate it for convicted serial killers, no questions asked. First degree murder convictions would need to be looked at on a case by case basis, along with any recommendations by the jury.

My logic is simple: I am a victim of crime!
I have had to sit idly by and watch the perpetrators laugh at me. I have been condemned to the indigantion of having to face a broken and irresponsible justice system. My logic is derived from my having witnessed just how corrupt the system is.
When you're in my shoes, or the shoes of any person victimized by crime and the justice system, the death penalty becomes most attractive. So attractive in fact, that every other form of punishment pales in comparison.
When you are victimized by crime, and punished for seeking justice, when the justice system intended to protect you, works against you, you will understand my logic. I am sickened by the way our justice system persecutes the victims and celebrates the scum that commit the crimes. There is no punishment more fitting for these assholes, than death!
the fact is that life in prision really isn't that bad. There are tones of criminals out there that say prision time is nothing. They get books, tv basketball courts pools etc. I don't even have a pool.life in prision isn't easy"

Then you would back my new fascist party?

I'll support that on one condition...if we execute an innocent person, you volunteer to go to the gallows on behalf of society.
Seriously though, the death penalty is only a deterrent to those for whom life in prison is a deterrent. Other than the revenge factor, the only thing we get out of capital punishment is the possibility of killing innocent people.

Exactly. I oppose the death penalty not out of sympathy for killers, but the realization that our justice system is not only not flawless, but frighteningly flawed. I can't imagine anything worse than sitting on death row for something you didn't do.
