British Columbia, and one of it's big industries: Oil and Gas.
"The northeastern region of the province has been a focus of petroleum exploration and development since 1952. Its 194,000 square kilometres include the northern foothills of the Rocky Mountains and the northwestern part of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin (WCSB).
More than 18,000 wells have been drilled to date. About 607 billion cubic metres (21.6 trillion cubic feet [Tcf]) of marketable natural gas remain to be discovered. The BC foothills and deeper plays, in particular, hold potential for significant additional gas reserves. Up to 23.1 million cubic metres (145 million barrels) of recoverable oil either remain undiscovered or will be recovered using improved recovery techniques. The productability of a major undeveloped CBG resource (conservatively estimated to be 60 Tcf) in the Northeast is being evaluated by several producers."

The BC Prairie. They grow some decent canola up that way...or at least they did until Climate Change started killing crops with snow and heavy freezing.

They need to diversify.

They're fecking everywhere around here. Ride the buckboard down into the Big City some day and have a look around.
They aren't closing, here. I'll get that it's the fastest seller around here.
According to Tesla, they are going to do away with the Bricks and mortar retailing to just sell online. The Millennials will like that ... if they ever find jobs.
No they aren't. They're everywhere. I quoted some big city asshole to prove it.

That is the problem with the Climate Change activists. They do not understand ....
It's a common but dishonest and cheap debating trick to suggest that those who disagree with us fail to understand the issues.
If we stop extracting natural resources from out land, the quality of life and standard of living would suffer immensely. Say goodbye to health care, high quality education, social services, and any kind of safety net for the disadvantaged.
That's a mixture of straw men and hyperbole. No on one I know of, suggests that we 'stop extracting natural resources'. Which ones we should continiue to extract; how and to what extent, as well as what substitutes can be found, are valid questions that are being asked. A drop in living standards seems inevitable in any case, but what social services and safety nets will be sustainable depends on many unpredictable variables and on what choices are made.
Another country like China, the United States, or Russia will just pick up the slack. The World is not going to come together and sing Kumbaya.
Which countries will most reduce their pollution, carbon emissions, and population growth remains to be seen. Canada is not at the forefront, and flippant sarcasm is of no help in addressing humanity's probems.
The most likely scenario will be that human beings will overpopulate, compete for space at such a degree that wars will breakout, until we eliminate each other.
I do believe that's the most likely outcome, and it is depressing. I assume it's what most 'climate change activists' are hoping to forestall.

I'm shopping for a plug-in hybrid to commute with. I drove a Subaru for a decade that I liked very much and the Crosstrek is high on my list (gotta be a manual! I like driving!).

There are Teslas in every third driveway around here. Neighbour straight across the street has a Prius.

Tick-tick-tick ...

Not sure which neighbourhood you live in. Perhaps you are ultra rich? I don't think I have ever seen a Telsla on the road. But aside from the anecdotal evidence of yours which means nothing, please share the stats on new car sales in 2019. I know hybrids and electric have a growing share, but please show how they are anywhere close to a majority. And again, this is only new cars. Most of the cars on the road were sold in previous years and are gas cars. People are not going to just switch without getting their full use of their cars.

You implied that Alberta is "not the West."
Maybe you should look at a Map of Canada, then get back to us.
Your pompous attitude, and dissecting posts with condescending remarks is not going to convert anyone over to your side,.
When you're in BC, Alberta is in the east. As I said. On Vancouver island, it's far to the east. But it's not uncommon for folks to think their own location is at the centre of the universe.

I think it's likely that most "climate change activisit's" don't have a clue what the future holds and they don't care, which is why it is likely that there will be turmoil in the future. We are painting a bleak picture for our children which is entirely not necessary.
We have an increase in suicides and the anger out there is almost palatable. Screaming that the "world is going to end in 10 (or however many years) certainly isn't helping. As long a technology is evolving (and it is) things will be fine.

But in order for the garbage that is being perpetuated to stop, we have to get the leftist crap out of the classroom and Universities so that we can embrace the future which is quite exciting and not all that foreboding.

Makes you laugh, don't it.... Much like the tards that demand the abandonment of ICE cars, but these hypocrites quietly excuse themselves from the same standard.

Tough to take anyone seriously that talks the talk but can't walk the walk

Yay, Mr. Science.

Water ice is a glass with no organized crystal lattice and it occupies more space when solid than she it's liquid. It's the glacial ice that's a threat. It's not floating.
Do they teach spelling and sentence structure where you go to school ?

Not a word about the sudden lack of subsidies?

Obviously you don't want to know any facts the destroy your narrative or you would have actually read the brief citation I provided.

Only a "small number of stores in high-traffic locations" will continue to operate, though whether or not that includes Toronto's stores at Yorkdale, Sherway Gardens, or on Lawrence Ave. East has yet to be seen.

Store closures are expected to happen over the next few months.

Gawd, fakenews schills are so tiresome.

Fair enough. We get it. You hate the West.

I'm thinking he doesn't realize that unlike most metallics, ice is NOT meant to be permanent - it comes and it goes just like it has for the last 4.5 billion years.

I guess the tropical fossils in the arctic circle are very intimidating to the world's nazis and communists and too big to fail bankers and pedophile spies and royalty.

Well, if YOU say it's so, it must be!

You will stick to the plan because you are unimaginative dinosaurs.

Hmmm, let's see here...

Ice north pole since 2013.

'nuff said

Major changes are afoot at Tesla.

Not only did Elon Musk's electric car company finally release its long-awaited and very affordable Model 3 car, the brand also just dramatically lowered the prices of Models S and X by thousands of dollars.

Tesla still hasn't made good on the deliveries on the cars that they took deposits for and in lowering the costs, well, that's just a last gasp for cash flow prior to this company going tits-up

That means the company is officially in cost-saving mode—what with Ontario rebates on new electric cars a thing of the past—which explains why they've just announced:
they're closing nearly all their stores.
https://www.blogto.com/tech/2019/03/tesla-closing-stores/

Ooooops!

According to Tesla, they are going to do away with the Bricks and mortar retailing to just sell online. The Millennials will like that ... if they ever find jobs.

That will be so convenient for all those people on your block (1 in 3 right?) when they need servicing.... i suppose that they can throw the ole tesla in a big box and FedEx it to the USA

Like you are doiing right now?

Dude, I hate to break this to you, but Alberta is definitely a Western Province. It is in the West. It does not matter how far in the West Alberta is, it is still considered Western Canada by pretty much everyone except you.

With that logic, I suppose that not all of BC qualifies as 'The West', maybe just Tofino and the city of Victoria

That's because pretty much everyone but us lives back east somewhere. Hope is generally considered the line because once you get est of Hope there is non.
