Before travelling over some of the possible paths it is worth remembering one key fact — as Bernard Lewis among others has said — there are essentially three Islams. There is the Islam of the Koran, Hadith and life of Muhammad. Then there is the extrapolation of this into the system of law known as sharia. And then there is a third Islam — Muslims themselves, what they do and how they live.
Even the briefest period spent studying the first two Islams should lead anyone — especially anyone brought up in another religion, let alone none at all — to worry. The traditions and the foundations on which the religion of Islam is built are deeply troubling — filled with imprecations to violence, oppression and conquest. Sharia, built upon these foundations, is a system of rules which would make any modern citizen shudder.
It is very hard to see how this system of laws can be reformed in a way that remains true to their sources without going so far away from them as to cause the centrality of those sources to crumble. These are serious and profound negatives, to which I will return. But they are balanced by one very significant positive which must always be borne in mind: what Muslims actually do.

But it does prove that there is tolerance in Islam.

The Soviets making a comeback is by far a bigger concern.

A very interesting read. Unfortunately, there's a lot of truth to what he wrote. Weak leaders in the West and in Europe and all the PC crap we've been fed for the last 20 years will likely come to bite us in the a**. I, too, am glad I'm not going to be around for the fallout. Where are the strong leaders we so desperately need? I just worry about our children's children.

That's why Britain needs Nigel Farage (or me) as Prime Minister and Godfrey Bloom as Home Secretary and why the other Western countries need someone similar i.e. someone with balls, who will take the necessary measures needed to make their country great again.

Since the 1960s, when the modern New Left were formed in hippy-populated, marijuana-reeking universities where they all suddenly came to the conclusion that the world would be a much better place if Christian-hating, heroin-addicted, handicapped, black, Muslim lesbians in Western nations which they had made "multicultural" were able to murder unborn babies just because their mothers didn't like their gender, the West has been run by weak, soppy, sandal-wearing, Muesli-eating, wouldn't-say-boo-to-a-goose, Left wing, hand-wringing cry-babies.

So, if anyone from Britain is reading this.....

It's a total misunderstanding of Islam.

The reason Muslims don't run around killing everyone is because the Qur'an prohibits it. The Qur'anic quotes relating to the use of force relate to a specific context historically when Islam was oppressed. That does not apply today.

muslims 'three' still believe in Shari'a, but have a totally different understanding thereof. In their minds, tehy are actually living according to their understanding of the Qur'an, not breaking away from it.

Dependent upon the time frame. From good to bad.

Really- we are aware they do not run around killing everyone. Otherwise none would be left.

The problem with Islam is the people who count are silent. They let the radicals
and those who want to warp it for their political ends do the talking We in the West
are going to see a huge rising against authority. At some point the two groups
Muslims and the rest of society will clash here and around the world. Within the
next generation there will be conflict not with the Chinese but with the Muslim world.
Understanding Islam is paramount to winning the conflict and we should be paying
attention. The only thing that might offset the equation is the young people both
here and in the Muslim World. Arab Spring was the first positive sign.
Young Muslims are speaking and they want to pursue a day to day life more than a
religious ideology. We are at the crossroads of civilizaiton in terms of which path
they take.
