Aren't they supposed to be trained to disarm somebody wielding a knife? It appears there were a number of options. I think a couple big cops with batons could have put this eighteen year old on the ground and dissarmed him......of course they might have got their pants a bit dirty......

I said, time and again, they did not need to arrest him instantly. He was contained, he had no one at hand he could injure, they could have, SHOULD have, attempted to talk him down rather than shoot him dead.
You seem to be confusing 'don't shoot him dead' with 'let him walk free'.
Lets agree to disagree... My point is about how dangerous is a person holding a knife (ie threatening) and how someone has to eventually get to close to deal with it.
I could care less about SWAT Teams, and mace, and (the dumbest comment of all) shooting-out knee caps.... That is all secondary to my point.
There is no limit to the number of solutions that can be offered after-the-fact; of course, all of the ones proposed to date absolutely required buddy to cooperate via not leaving the bus - and as we all know, mental-cases ALWAYS cooperate on those terms.
So, let's just leave it OK?
Sounds good. And. . . a piece of advice? Don't threaten people who have guns, mmm-kay?
Oh, right. Of course not. The naked blade was a symbol of harmony and friendship. He wasn't threatening them TB, no sir - just ask anyone here.
Of course. But not sausage, of course: that would involve violence against the animals that share our environment.Apparently so.
Maybe he was waving it at the cops as an invitation to come in and have some cheese and sausage - he could do all the cutting with that spiffy knife!

You seem to have a fascination with kneecaps....new kind of fetish????Hey, Einstein, did you ever talk to someone who has had a knee cap shot out? Kind of takes his/her mind off of whatever else they are doing! -![]()

Funny, a Sgt. (mounties) came for eggs here and wifey n he chatted about it a bit. Wifey said that he said they'd have waited were it his watch. Had a kid with a knife here threatening suicide and anyone that came close. All they did was wait him out and talk with him and eventually he left his house and was taken into custody - alive.
