Since it is still between Adam's sin and the 'return' everyone still dies under the 120 year rule that was given in Ge:6 so yes Jesus did have to die. That also established the definition of the bruise in Ge:3:15, it means fallen angels get sent to their death also, the fiery lake.

Jesus also found His wife to be, Mart of Bethany, aka beloved disciple, ask Him if it was worth it.
