If it bothers you so much then stop reading and replying to the topic bud.
Sounds like you have some personal issues to deal with here.
You raised the issue and left yourself wide open for the backlash. It bothers me yes, that's why I'm responding to your BS. You implied in your OP that Newfoundlanders are lazy and I take issue with that. Nepotism might be alive and well in the oil patch but that's something the oil companies are going to have to deal with. For the record (and not that I owe you an explanation) no uncle, aunt or distant cousin was responsible for my job. My credentials and work experience spoke for itself, not that I'm bragging. And I don't sit in a truck all day killing time. I resisted the urge go come to Alberta for the longest time due to the simple fact that the work environment out here is poisonous. But you do have lots of dinero. So I took the bait. I regret it just a little bit.
I do lead an exciting life,im an expert in my field which is reclamation and I have the awards to prove it,I dont know anything about carpentry or other things and you'll see I only post on stuff I have some knowledge in for the main reason that someone with the same interests will add something of value or insight as I never stop learning and allways am looking to learn.
Yes by', I can imagine your wall must be a shrine to Kakato the Great. You say you like to learn from others but I suspect a man as knowledgeable as yourself can't possibly fit much more into that brain of yours.
And I dont care what Anna has to say but if you feel you have to quote her to bolster your own low self esteem or whatever issue causes you to make such hate filled posts then by all means go for it.
Actually I quoted Bugs Bunny and I fail to see how calling someone a maroon is hate filled. Your OP on the other hand....
On the Newfys treating this like a party issue,I now have set up a few southern Alberta hutterites to come work for us,they are young, smart and very hard workers and will be an asset to the team.Hopefully it will instill a work ethic in some of the noobs.
It's about time you started forcing your young men and women into the oilpatch Good on ya. But then again some of the jobs are beneath the average Albertan. It'll take some doing but I'm sure you can convince enough of your comrades to fill the positions.
Sorry your so close to blowing a gasket or haveing a meltdown here, you take things waaaaay too seriously.
Buddy you haven't even scratched the surface of my gasket. She can take a lot of pressure. You're darned right I take this seriously. I've had it up to here with Alberta's attitude towards the east. I'm the only Newfoundlander at my office. Once in a while some young buck off the farm will make a snide remark about Newfies and again I have to step in and straighten their attitudes out. I'm not shy about it either. The rest of the people around me get the message loud and clear. Some respect me for my stance, others go off with their mouth turned up. If they want to fire me that's ok. I have plenty of people lined up across this country willing to hire me, not that I'm bragging mind you. Yes, I too have a wall of shame Kakato. I have more certificates and diplomas it's a wonder I'm not prime minister of the damn country.
Furthermore, I'd like to remind you of the thousands of Newfoundlanders working around the Fort Mac area. They fill nearly every job description out there. They go into the nastiest places, sucking coke dust down their lungs daily, working hard everyday to keep the Alberta economy moving. There's thousands more of us filling your office towers in downtown Calgary and Edmonton administering the oil business, tracking data, making sure business runs smoothly so the Alberta economy hums along. Thousands more are cleaning your toilets, making your beds, cooking your food, washing your dishes, doing work that's beneath Albertans, so you can feel well rested to go back to work next day. So truck on bud. Reclaim the land. Let's hope in a hundred years it's not raining rubber out of the sky with that crap you're putting back in the ground.
