No, they cannot do that! It's not their fault!
This list is not complete, but the government needs to ban the following:
knives (all types)
poison
any electrical or gas powered devices such as lawn mowers, snowblowers, chain saws, weed whackers, hedge trimmers, etc.
(municipal, provincial employees must be trained and licensed to use ANY power tool!)
All bats (baseball, cricket, etc.)
hockey sticks
pucks, tennis balls
firearms
gas BBQs
razor blades
steel toed shoes, except for authorized areas, signing authority req'd
glass/ceramic/plaster windows, cups, ornaments
hand tools - specifically, screwdrivers, files, chisels, drill bits, planers
power tools - specifically, circular saws, jig saws, drills (corded & cordless), variants
swimming, especially diving
ice skating
building supplies (unless licensed to possess and use) 2x4s, bricks, cement, nails, tacks, etc

If these dangerous objects and activities are banned, incidents involving death or assaults will plummet.

This is only a partial list to consider. Think of the children and the innocent before you dismiss this.
