Actually the bank account freezes were caused by Iranian officials actively recruiting Iranian expats to infiltrate the Canadian Gov't and other areas they thought would be a benefit to the Iranian gov't.

Gee; I'm a surprised Iranian who didn't see this coming at all. I've got this wonderful passport of convenience that allows me to escape back to Canada every time A-mad-baggage-man goes off the rails (which is quite often) and I honestly thought everything would work out all right even though the tension has been ratcheting up daily on this nukey-dukey thing with Israel.
I thought, like everyone else, that it would be the U.S.that would lead the charge against nut-job but whoa nelly, right out of left field Canada decides, out of the blue, to take a principled stance and goes for the throat by kicking Iranian spies out of Canada. Who'da thought?
Sure didn't see this coming at all and now I'm sorely inconvenienced, I gotta say.
Can't remotely access my accounts in Iran, gotta actually carry cash back and forth. Brother this embargo stuff sure is a major pain.
The usual suspects and throwbacks are pushing activity on the board again. No surprise there.

Let's freeze up all your accounts and those of your family and see how much you think it is a right then. No money =no food, housing,etc. and those are basic human rights under the UN Universal declaration of human rights and in the Canadian charter. This woman is legally in Canada so can be afforded protection under our charter.
She's not complaining about her accounts being frozen, becuase they're not.
Her only concern is how to get her passport renewed.
None of her human rights are being violated, and she's living the good life in a nice new home with her own business.

Do you honestly believe that this Iranian is not affected in a negative way by their bank account being frozen? Unless this women is an agent of the Iranian government she should be left alone, otherwise we aren't doing ourselves any favors here. Iranians in Canada should return to Iran with a good impression of Canadians and the fairness of our government and criminal justice system. That way they might agitate for change in Iran based on their positive Canadian experience.
