Not sure of the connection to the topic or not, but as long as Hungary stays away from the Euro there is no reason for it not to be like Canada long into the future. Except for language it would be hard to tell the difference even between it and the U.S. or Canada. The people were very friendly there.

Long into the future, perhaps. But certainly not today.

Requiring immigrants to have a strong command of English will probably not work. First of all immigration from Western Europe is now close to zero and that is the area where there are the most English speakers. Interestingly the area that would qualify best is India which as a country has the second largest number of English speakers after the USA.

It is worth noting that if Canada had instituted such a policy during the 19th and 20th centuries there would have been almost no immigration from Eastern, Central, and Southern Europe and it would have cut off immigration from Asia completely. Essentially only immigrants from the USA, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, and the Caribbean would have been eligible.

OK, maybe it was an exaggeration to say that Canada's economy will collapse. However, ti will be seriously inconvenienced. Most of the immigrants who come to Canada are professionals. Doctors, engineers, scientists etc. It is very expensive to train them locally, we get them ready made from third world countries.

Immigrants bring in skills much in demand in Canada. Without those skills, Canada will be at a disadvantage.

To imply the entire economy will be seriously inconveneiened is a bit much too. Capital will be very modestly inconvenienced if immigration levels are lowered. Labour, which is most of us, will benefit because of less competition for jobs. Wages will rise, yay. Business will have to be more productive, so they will pay more, yay. Then there might be fewer jobs, but with less immigration there will be less competition for those jobs, yay. So business will have to be nicer to workers to be able to hire them, yay.

I only see great benefits for labour with lower immigration levels. Let capital be very competitive, they are very very smart. But since we can control who lives in Canada, let's do things for the benefit of labour, the wage slaves, which is most of us.

Most immigrants are family class and many of them are uneducated unskilled people who take menial jobs and speed the race to the bottom. Not no immigration, but lower levels.

Believe it or not China has more English speaking people than any other nation.

That's what they like to say. But go to China and you won't find very many people that can actually speak English. This is the case for Korea and Japan. However not for the Phillipines. But not in Mexico.

The term, "English speaking people" is often used a little too loosely by the uninformed. Globalization boosters like it and the very little traveled.

Having 20% of the world's population, that is not surprising!

"Poor poor you. Built yourself up on something layed out for by others who did far more than you and paved the way for you with their blood. Would you have prefered to have worked in the industry that gave you a comfortable start and a new life before the unions? Everything you have today is because those CANADIAN men and women gave their lives and suffered immensly and fought for YOUR rights that you abuse and feel other's don't deserve."

The only thing that is worse than an uninformed and hateful idiot is an uninformed, hateful and blind idiot.

What happens when we don't use those skills?

Why does Canada shut out or atleast not give any points for sick people. Being sick or not should not be part of a immigration application. I could care what, or how sick a person is as long as they follow the immigration policy all have do. Immigration should not be about money.

Cool. 67 is a pass and I got 93.

Don't get too high on yourself there, Anna.........................:lol::lol:
The form should be disqualified as discriminatory, age automatically puts me out of the picture. If you look at the questions about education it all pertains to "recognized" institutes of learning, but no credit are given for completing years in the "school of hard knocks". Some of us guys without too much formal education could get and hold a job because we knew the reason for the job and got down to brass tacks to get the job done, often supervised by some idiot with a paper hanging on his wall. Passing a test in school is one thing, but it doesn't guarantee you can pass the "test of life".

Immigration is all about money and letting in sick people can cost a fortune. You must want your taxes to go way up. Alotta sick people out there.

Immigrants don't have a right to come to Canada, they are not Canadians. it's a privilege for them.

Holy sh*t man, our health system is already over loaded and is strangling us financially, we are not a freaking international hospital here ready to import who knows what third world diseases. Immigrants should just consider themselves very lucky that we are importing ANYBODY, given the number of real A$$holes that are slipping in anyway.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

India has over 100 million English speakers and I doubt China has that many. I was speaking of Europe not as a single nation but the entire region. I suspect that it probably beats India. However, I am quite happy to be corrected if you can find a better source than I have. All I can find is the list below. Unfortunately, Nationmaster has nothing on China, which I suspect is an oversight. Please note that in the case of Europe, Britain's 55 million gives it a strong head start.

English speakers (most recent) by country

I also have this source from Wikipedia. However, I suspect some of its figures might be skewed. For example, I doubt Nigeria has that many English speakers.

I see they got the bastard who attempted to bomb Time Square. Not surprising, he is a foreigner from Asia. In light of that and all the other mischief those guys get into I think North America needs a 10 year moritoriam on all immigration so all these guys can be sorted out and the undesirables put back on the boat. We have enough of our own home grown sh*t disturbers that we sure as hell don't need to import any more.

Arrest made in Times Square bombing attempt

Give me a break the barrier between home grown and foreign is breaking down. and please - for every one terrorist there are 20 decent immigrants that give back to their adopted countries immensely. You want to go back to your era of splendid isolationism'? go for it. But when your country stands up and demands to be listened to after years of keeping to yourself, why should anyone listen to you when you will not have listened to anyone else?

Love this statement,"Immigrants don't have a right to come to Canada, they are not Canadians. it's a privilege for them" So - you're First Nations, right? Because if you aren't, the only reason YOU'RE here is because one of your ancestors lucked in - they weren't so picky back then when they chose immigrants.
Must feel good to sit where you are, all safe - your people came here when it was relatively easy (well, easy if you were white and Christian) - now here you are - you can be judge and jury on who is worthy and who is not to be in this country.
