That's right, because there is no national certification for journalists. There are Associations, that present "certification" through a pay for play basis.

But you do not need to be certified to be a journalist.

She commented before the last election about "proroguing" Parliament. She didn't have a fu cking clue what it actually was, didn't use it properly, and when it was pointed out to her she refused to acknowledge she had made a mistake and instead, attacked the person. This is not a journalist.

Looks to me like, if the rebel wanted to actually send a reporter to the news conference they should have sent Faith Goldy. At least she has actual experience as a reporter. Unlike Gunn, who would be better fitted to changing diapers and reading bedtime stories.

What I see is a group who wants to be treated like professional journalists but are totally unwilling to adhere to the ethical bounds of responsible journalism. The NDP took a rather large misstep in refusing entry to Rebel staffers without a clear and comprehensive policy that was equally applied to all, regardless of political stripe. They were right to take the humility route and back down until a policy review was made. It is my sincere hope that the review will result in requiring some form of recognized accreditation to gain access to government media events, accreditation that will make a distinction between someone trained in the ethics of responsible journalism and some blowhard with an attitude and a keyboard.

We are dealing with lefty politicians here. They don't know the meaning of ethics.

One of the stars is Sheila Gunn Reid, who recently wrote a book about Premier Rachel Notley’s “war on Alberta” that leaves no member of the NDP cabinet unscathed.

Last November, she complained when someone referred to her as a Conservative researcher.

“Flat out lie,” she posted on Twitter. “I’m a mom with Samsung Note 4 in a camoflage (sic) case.”

“In other words, an ordinary citizen,” someone replied.

“Exactly. If they paint us as professionals, it doesn’t make the media look so inept when we eat their lunches.”



Notice that she states that she is NOT a professional and is "just an ordinary citizen".

She can't have it both ways. Either she is, or she isn't.

Really, Less than 4 months ago she states that she is NOT a professional, she is a private citizen, her twitter and rebel bio states that she is a stay at home. How is that semantics? Levant stated that HE is not a journalist. How is that semantics? She doesn't know what prorogue means. The doesn't seem to know the difference between the Commons and a provincial legislature and those that attend. She trolls on twitter, and bullies those that oppose her. Is that what a professional journalist does? Does that sound like someone that you would want to be receiving unbiased news reports from?
