The biggest problem i have with eating at McDonald's is its so common... the manners, the clientele, the food, the ambiance.. all panders to an inoffensive middle. You find much more interesting food, people, surroundings in some of the these one off burger joints (Spitz Burger, Fat Burger in Vancouver, you know the type).. it costs more, i'd say by 50%.. but its worth it.
Plus when i eat at McDonald's for an extended period of time i always feel run down and a little ill.

Man it's good basic burgers. Nice topping too. Whenever I get to the west end of Toronto I try to get in there.

Where's the Beef?
You know another "Beef" I have about that McDonald's restaurant, is that it's built right next door to Sir John A. Macdonald and the John G. Diefenbaker High School... I guess so the students can get their daily nutrients.
I feel that fast food restaurants like this should NOT be allowed to be built within a radius of at least 1 mile from any school..
They have the same rule for convenience stores selling cigarettes in the USA. You can't sell cigs within a specific radius of schools.

Gee ... near my high school were three pinball arcades that sold smokes, greaseburgers, fries and all the current brands of pop
In Texas we have a ban on signs within 1000 feet of a church or school that promote Tobacco products.
I think New York City is one area that has a ban on sale of tobacco products near schools..
...and Junk Food and Fast Food outlets are under attack near schools.

Oh they took the junk food and pop out of the schools here too and what happened
the kids held onto their money until after school and bought the stuff on the way home.
One of the grand kids said later he just skipped lunch and ate what he wanted later.
Again we have all kinds of people trying their damnedest to legislate things that are a
personal choice. you say parents are in charge what personal choice? The truth is a
family can say in this house we believe this, but in reality not everyone believes what
you believe or the parents believe. I didn't believe everything my parents believed on
issues from religion to politics, I was quiet in most cases did what I wanted anyway.
The problem is we made fast food part of family meal choices instead of promoting the
fact that McDonald's and other institutions are supposed to be a treat not a meal choice.
Pop is a treat not part of the everyday diet.
Smoking is another one, parents angry because their kid is caught smoking and sometimes
with smoke in hand parents condemn the habit what an example.
If someone does screw up the order, you can quietly point out the fact its not what you
ordered, its not difficult and it is not embarrassing to the employee. Not only will you get
better service in the future, you will perhaps become one of those nice people that all the
young folks want to serve. I know it works for me a lot. I get treated well in cafes, fast
food outlets we frequent and even at the emergency at the local hospital.
People who complain and howl and make a noise get the time consuming treatment.
My wife who worked for the Federal Service for more than twenty five years used an even
better tactic. She would listen quietly while the person ranted and called her names and
sometimes even threatened her. She was told "You better do something"
She did she drew a red circle around their name and sent the file to investigation and control
and when you are on UI that is a real hassle. She sometimes even heard later about the
people they caught cheating the system. Well according to their wishes she did something.

The surest way to get kids to do something is to forbid them doing it. Much more productive to just try to demonstrate the benefits of sensible choices. (Wish I'd known that stuff 40 years ago) :lol:

You remind me of the peeps at the timmys that sit there and order up a whole specialty meal with everything done a certain way,tieing up the line up in the drive thru,you want fancy grub then go to a restaurant,drive thrus are for people that want a fast meal,sammy for lunch or a coffee.
I eat at a lot of fast foods working on the road and I allways get a huge smile from the filipinos working there.
I have a lot of respect for someone though that would come to a new country and start a new life and even have to "lower" them selves to working at mc dees or Timmys to become a Canadian.
Those are not losers.
I really like fried onions in my hamburger. If I asked McDonald's to substitute fried onions for the lettuce, should I demand they do it? And, a sprinkle of seasoned salt - is that too much to ask? Also, maple-walnut ice cream on the Canadian side. Furthermore, call the frigging napkins serviettes! And they shouldn't say, "There you go!" They should say, "Here you are!" "There you go!" sounds so much like "Fu<k off!" Whew, I needed to get this off my chest.
In Kindersley I ask for extra bacon and lots of it and I get it.I know they unwrap a burger and add the bacon.
When I eat at mc dees it,s because there's nothing else open.
I dont ask them to take the tomatoes and onions off though,I do that myself and toss those for the crows and seagulls that hang around the fast food joints.
