When the U.N./U.S. was planning to Invade Iraq 1991, it was expected that Saddam would use bio and poison gas weapons. So we prepared for thousands of causalities. These caskets and body bags are just stuff we didn't have to use back then.

There are not 25 million body bags hanging around. Might be time to lock up the fear mongers and rumor starters if this becomes a epidemic. We do not need anyone shouting fire in a movie theater.

That depends on whom you ask. Officials at the CDC and the WHO have emphasized that while the swine flu situation is serious, they're responding with an abundance of precautions. Even Osterholm, who has been highly critical of the U.S. government's long-term failures to better prepare for a pandemic, gives the CDC a 9 out of 10 for its response so far. Outside of Mexico, the swine flu hasn't looked too serious yet - unlike during the SARS outbreaks of 2003, when an entirely new virus with no obvious treatment took the world by surprise. In the U.S., the normal flu season is winding down, which should make it easier for public-health officials to pick out swine flu cases from run-of-the-mill respiratory disease. And there are simple things that people can do to protect themselves, like practicing better hygiene (wash hands frequently and cover mouth and nose when sneezing) and staying away from public places or traveling if they feel sick. "There's a role for everyone to play when an outbreak is ongoing," said Besser.
But the truth is that every outbreak is unpredictable, and there's a lot we don't know yet about the new swine flu. There hasn't been a flu pandemic for more than a generation, and there hasn't been a truly virulent pandemic since long before the arrival of mass air transit. We're in terra incognito here. Panic would be counterproductive - especially if it results in knee-jerk reactions like closing international borders, which would only complicate the public-health response. But neither should we downplay our very real vulnerabilities. As Napolitano put it: "This will be a marathon, not a sprint." Be prepared.

That's it? lol, those are the same things people do when there is no outbreak of any kind. In a full blown case of it spreading that is the extent of the advice the Gov will give the people. Wow, that's next to nothing. Shutting down places that people can meet would include Hospitals and Clinics, not that they could help you anyway in that no vaccine would be available to the general public, any that would be available would go to the same ones that all those bomb shelters were meant for.

Better reply would have been, why is the flu (so far) fairly mild outside of Mexico. Not the time yet to throw barbs.

With all the issues happening in Mexico, swine flu, kidnappings, murders, illegal arrests, etc, etc, I don't know why anyone would want to go there anyway...

Wasn't there an over production of flu vaccine last year?...Is it the cure?

Who's keepn' these flu's alive through out the summer?.(watch it..Trick question)

Time for transparentcy ,accountability ,and some sensebility in this issue....Let's kill all the pigs infected by this disease first..Like some....Facts are there are flu's,bugs and virus's everywhere,All the time.AND WORSE!..There are many health issues around the world at any given time to focus on..The flu is a common illness...

Let's see a commitee of doctors answer questions.Preferably the doctors that have made the swine flu discovery .Give their facts..Show their proof...Let's see the virus!!..Shows us on slides..Doctors and other interested groups should be held accountable for their decisions ...There FACTs should be transparent..A neutral commitee should review results..It's the same stink every year...

Better safe than sorry ,sure..But everyone should be free from internal /international B.S..and over exploitation of fear ...This issue reaks of pig do do !..

Where is the good information?

.At first it was a bird/pig/human flu..Now noone knows for sure what exactly the virus looks like..They are all similar...It mostly hype...Let's hear from the experts

Who is too blame, if this is a farce.?..

Who will follow up on this swine flu issue,to verify what was the truth and what was B.S...There should be reviews on all these contraversial issues after a grace period of a couple months on these big issues..I think we could catch alot of B.S...

But who's interest would that serve?

.When doctors and other interested sources do not need to disclose all information before given money.. Does that not leave people (already victums)susceptable to bias opinions,..unnecesscary fears, and The dreaded "B.S." virus?..

This story seems to be as manufactured, as the possibility of a "swine/bird/human" flu..

Someones gotta be sceptical of the big guys ...Apparently ..The media doesn't get payed enough to be...

It looks like WHO has raised it to Phase 5 now.

Also, Egypt has said they are going to slaughter all 300 000 pigs they have in their country as a pre-emptive measure.8O
