I don't give a crap if this guy is an alcoholic or not. I've seen enough of this in my lifetime to know that people can have all sorts of personal issues. Alcoholism, drug addiction are problems that many people develop. The only difference is, if I become an addict or if I am one, no one is going to do a story on it in the Toronto Star or twat about it on twitter. I don't care if they call it a wellness program or rehab.
Regarding how the media handled Rob Ford, as opposed to this guy. Let's be serious here. Rob Ford was a bloody train wreck. He was handed the keys to city hall and he decided to smoke crack with gangster rappers. He was not merely getting sauced up and shooting his mouth off. He was consorting with known criminals. There were plenty of people who supported him, in the media as well, before he stabbed them in the back by lying about his problem.
QUOTE]
I saw a few headlines yesterday on my news aggregate that were suggesting that Seamus was not being hyper profiled like Rob Ford, suggesting some feigned favouritism on behalf of the Media.
I wasn't too sure who this guy was but his name sounded familiar and upon checking he was in the past who I thought he was, a CTV TV person. I did not realize he became a Politician.
To suggest that Ford got a rough ride and this guy won't is sheer lunacy.
Ford put himself 'out there' way before his personal problems became evident. He had his own radio show, publicly battled any one, any time, any where. He was a very gregarious extroverted public person who said what ever he wanted whenever he wanted regardless if that was always the wise thing to say. His Political actions made him a larger than life character including his very public relationships with Provincial and Federal Conservatives. And all of the above made him a nationally recognized face, way before his other issues came to light.
If I hadn't of realized that this Seamus was from CTV I would have had no clue who he was as he hasn't exactly shook the country with any antics, good or bad.
The National Post/Sun is in deep financial trouble but if they really think this basically unknown character, just because he's a Liberal, is worth wasting a lot ink on, that defines the priorities of those papers and why they are in trouble.......
