Well, I don't have time to do the stats now. Actually, I between, work, coaching and Christmas, I hardly have any time at all. It will be interesting to see. For scope, it's worth keeping in mind that the warmest years in the instrumental record, according to NOAA, are:

2010, 2005, 1998, 2013, 2003, 2002, 2006, 2009, 2007, 2004, 2012.

Other agencies keeping track of these things may not have exactly the same list, but tell pretty much the same story.

It makes sense that for every year warmer than 1998, the idea that global warming stopped in 1998 becomes less defensible.

What created the warmth? CO2?

Deflection. The issue at hand is my contention that the accumulation of years warmer than 1998 is going to make the idea of a global warming "pause" a more difficult sell for the skeptics.

Not deflection at all when the source of warmth is unexpectedly diminishing. Run any model and include the drop in TSI. Will the predictions made prior to the unexpected drop stand firm?

We shouldn't see a flat line with a drop in TSI? How about a drop in particle precipitation and Joule heating at high latitudes? Does that not count either?

You can calculate the trends for yourself easily with the app on a University of York webpage here:

thanks! I hadn't realized Dr. Cowtan had put this forward: as for that so-called "pause" this denial crew around here so pumps up:

if you're not aware, another option via Moyhu... (hasn't yet incorporated Cowtan/Way methodology)... as for more fun with facts; a background profile on PhD candidate, Robert Way, from the University of Ottawa:

my mistake... it does now include Cowtan & Way Had4 Kriging (but apparently not the hybrid)

Not deflection at all when the source of warmth is unexpectedly diminishing.

We shouldn't see a flat line with a drop in TSI?

yes... reduced sunspot numbers? And you acknowledge diminishing total solar irradiance... what "flat line" are you speaking to?

Who knows? There's a number of complex factors invovled, including total solar irradiance and EUV affecting Joule heating in the thermosphere. Then there's the impact of more heat on water vapour (the positive feedback of IR absorbance versus the negative feedback of albedo).

so... even in the most benign and confrontation free discussion, when simply questioned, you're incapable of insult-free discussion!

When all you got is a hammer, all your problems look like nails.

Walter lovesa Justin--who'd a thunk it?

@Wallace--reddie me if you love Barack Hussein Obama!!!

This isn't going to negatively impact our friendship I hope?

Was I talking to you? Yes or no?

look, I get it... your hostility level is appreciably high given that your 'house of cards' pet theories are falling apart on you. If a simple question so throws you over your insult threshold, just ignore that most inconvenient questioning coming your way. I expect you'll feel much better and it will allow you to maintain the facade of your fake-skeptic pets!

Are you able to discuss EUV, particle precipitation and Joule heating of O2 and O3 in the atmosphere?

Hey now.

here's a thought: instead of your perpetual dance and outright avoidance in being clear, descriptive and complete... what general frame of reference (not detailed, just general) are you presuming to want to make with you shifting to yet another diversion; your reference to, as you say, "EUV, particle precipitation and Joule heating of O2 and O3 in the atmosphere". Just your generalized frame of reference in wanting to discuss these latest items from your grab-bag? What is it?

So you are unable. Figures.

so... you are unable to provide a generalized frame of reference in terms of the significance you presume to bring to these latest items from our grab-bag catchall! Figures.

But you keep answering all the time....there there boy...you can have the last word.....for now

tell you what... I'll let you have the last word (you appear to so covet) when you actually step forward with a subject matter related post! Of course, since that will never happen, I am not at all worried about you dropping misinformation that goes without challenge!

last word!

I just got to thinking today that perhaps Global warming is like global darkening which I've noticed here lately, but in another few weeks we'll start to see a correction!:)

All you add is the same old same old graphs and charts.....nobody is impressed!

I'm impressed by the tedious repetition. Steroids I rekon.

We pray, it returns, that's the law.

It's a big leap to claim the pause is over.

The believers deny the mere existence of a pause.

Duh...Sleeper! Other than an occasional drive-by from you (like this one), you're adding nothing to these related threads. Have you nothing subject related to add? Nothing at all? Why, some wag just might label you a "one trick pony"!

Says the guy that has added nothing new for the last 2 months.
