There's a few of the rich who are as you say, but there are also a few rich people who got that way through studying hard, working hard and spending money wisely. I think everyone should strive to be rich (in an honest manner) Everyone is better off, as they spend money in the community and hire people. Anyone who says the rich don't pay their fair share of taxes hasn't studied the tax tables, not to mention having "a dog in a manger" attitude. If you notice, the poor people pay the lowest tax rates. I believe in the rich subsidizing the poor (up to a limit), but there is a limit.
And some rich do give alot of their money to charities, not because the government tells them to, but just because they appreciate the opportunities they've been given. Sure there are some bad apples, but I would trust most rich people to give as they please. Politically, that would likley not go well with many socailists, so I'd be wiling to compromise by at least letting them subtract donations from their income tax.
