How are adults talked into believing in fantasy creatures, miracles and magic?

Please ignore that I do not believe in any invisible entity.I would like this thread to be about you.

I also have rejected the notion of anything being able tobreach the limits of nature and physics.

No miracles allowed in my theology.

If you do not follow your religion because of culture andtradition, when did you begin to be a believer?

Can you describe how you were made to believe in fantasy orimaginary creatures?

Were you an adult at that time or a child?

If a child, could this real phenomena be what caused you tobelieve?

I remember the night I woke up and found my Mum reaching beneath my pillow for my tooth - she tried to tell me that the tooth fairy was too busy so she was helping out! Took me years to get over that. LOL!

People are led because they want to be part of something bigger than themselves
People want an anchor to hang onto because they lack a spiritual anchor in themselves.
I personally don't believe in the devil, or witches or magic. There are things that are
unexplained, that is true. Is there a guiding hand that rules the universe,? No one knows.
Some need something to lean onto to and there is no harm in that, as long as they take
responsibility for their actions and behaviour.
I respect those with a strong faith at least they believe in something. The ones I get ticked
with are those who want to ram their belief down my throat, and on the other side those
who want to deprive others of what they want to believe. These are the extremists on one
side or the other. The rest of us are somewhere in the middle on the sanity scale, and we
are subjected to hearing all the verbal fertilizer from both sides of the argument.
Personally I don't care what someone else wants to believe unless they want laws demanding
I believe like they do.

I too do not care if the belief is benign but I see too much damage from believers and what they believe to let them be.

For evil to grow, all good people need do is nothing.

Imagine the crappy world we would be in if no one corrected foolish and damaging thinking.

Was Santa so unkind?....

I was kind of pissed when I found out I was lied to about the existence of Santa, the Easter bunny and all those other childish things. It did help me become more critical though. I never blindly believed what my parents said again. Or anyone else for that matter. I guess its useless in its way. It didnt take long to go from that to giving up on the adult version of Santa Clause - God.

....all it needs is for a belief system to have the conviction that it has the right to force someone else to believe as they do.

True. Which can be a religion, political ideology or some other thing. If everyone just believed what they wanted and left everyone else alone I would have absolutely no problem with any of it. Most do, but the ones going out to convert people are extremely annoying at the very least - or dangerous and deadly for the more extreme ones.

A hypocritical preacher? Say it ain't so!

No argument. Especially where children are concerned.

Google Jesus camp and get an ear full.

Some have called what those Christians are doing child abuse.

I do not push my beliefs on anyone.

I do push my criticisms against those who do harm with theirs.

As to where I go, that is my business and only busybodies care.
Would you like to give me a list of where I have your permission to go?

Freedom of speech gives you the right to set up your soapbox anywhere you wish.......

But that same freedom of speech gives me the right to criticise you and question your intent; and even Boo you if I feel like it..

It would be a little presumptuous to think man understands every phenomenum in the world. Fantasy creatures!! Apparently there are new species being discovered every day. What we call miracles are generally quite possible.
