cody hodgson will be playing with the canucks tomorrow in dallas. he was called up yesterday.

it seems he will be centering the 4th line as, with bolduc injured they don't have a natural
centerman for that line.
looking forward to seeing him play, and to have the chance to get in some games with the canucks.
even if he doesn't stay permanately, it will give him some experience, as playoffs aren't far off,
and he could be back for them.

I see they are back in the top spot in the rankings. A couple more wins and they'll have a playoff position secured!

thats right

i'm waiting to see what they are going to do about the defence shortage problem, maybe rome and
alberts are ready to come back, or salo, I heard a rumour that they were trying to get someone
from outside, (lucas krejchek), who use to be with canucks, but nothing more about it, probably just some story that has no legs.

I wonder if the Canucks will keep Sweatts around for a few games after he scored that beautiful goal on his first shift.

Maybe for what $ they are being paid, any man on the team should be able to fill in on any other position where required LOL. I know shortly before I retired (at a salary of about 1/50 of what they make) I was told we have to become more versatile.:lol:

not unless no one else is ready to come back, he might even be back in manitoba now, I don't know

he received a pass and made a nice shot, he certainly can't
replace any of the other defencemen canucks have.

I like tanev, the other young fellow who is up playing defence right now,(#18), if you watch him closely,
he is very very smart for how young and inexperienced he is, but he still has to fill out and mature,
he has grown tall in the last two years, and was never drafted because he was much too small, sprouted
up after he was 18 years old. Sweatts will not be doing that now, he is 25 I think, but a good fill in
from manitoba, just a little guy.

interesting, why won't it print an eight.

guess they probably could do that JLM, lol

the team would not be at it's very best, but might surprise us, anyway those defencemen can skate
backwards so well, it's really quite amazing, we just take it for granted, if you watched the
backwards race at the all-star skills competition, it was two defencemen, they were flying.

Sweatts played last night against Dallas and he didn't look too out of place. He took a penalty which is not neccessarily a
bad thing. I don't know how many minutes he played. The reporters talked about his diminutive size but at five feet nine and 195 pounds
he is a bit of a fire plug.

Looks like Dallas is one team the Canucks don't have to be unduly concerned about, but I'm wondering if the Flames aren't starting to get ideas.

yeah, he played solid, he has had lots of experience in europe, then in manitoba so he isn't a rookie
type, and can be very dependable, and as long as alberts and rome are out, he will probably stay.

I don't think Calgary have the depth to threaten the Canucks right now. Another few wins and Vancouver will be very
firmly ensconced in first place.

I think there is a chance Calgary won't even make the playoffs. Meanwhile, what is going on with Salo? He's been skating
for about a month. Are they just playing Salary cap games?

you'd better take another look at calgary juan, only a couple of points out of playoff spot, and lately
they have found their game.
we must never get into the rut of thinking that 'points mean exactly what a team is', from the very top
to the very bottom.

when on the top it is hard to stay there, (but definitely better than the bottom), and right thru to
the bottom teams, 'they' are constantly working on their game, and lately calgary has managed to find
some consistency and a bit of depth, and when kiprosoff is playing his best, and the team is rolling,
as it is right now, they are a very good team.

dallas is one of the top teams, but seem to have some trouble with canucks, but we must NOT think that
is that, because nothing is forever, teams are changing all the time thru out the season, some improving
and some not, and when the playoffs roll around, anyone can beat anyone, from
first place right down to sixteenth.

there is no such thing as - 'oh they're in 14th place, or (whatever), so we don't have to worry
about them', (the kiss of death), cause while you're not looking they are getting better.

Right now there are 9 teams with more points than Calgary. It always seems hard to catch teams
that are ahead because when you, win they have to lose or nothing changes. Let's see how they do
tonight against the Coyotes.

calgary has 56 pts.

san jose has 58 pts. and they are in '8th place.'
chicago also have 58 pts.
l.a. - 58 pts.
colorado 56 -
minnesota- 57

2 pts out of 8 th spot juan.

if calgary played tomorrow night, and the others either did not play or lost,
calgary would be tied for last playoff spot in conference.
so if they keep winning they will be in the playoffs, either very soon or
a little later, depends what the others do.

I don't dissagree. By the same token if Calgary loses and the other teams win,
they will be four points down. We'll see how it goes.

Btw, was Vancouver that good? or was Phoenix that bad last night? I didn't count
the number of two on ones or three on twos but there seemed quite a few. One
thing I did notice was the number of times Kesler was hooked or held without
the ref seeing it.

yeah, everything is decided after the 'what ifs' are done, but what teams are doing 'now' is
relevent now.

yeah, kesler was hooked and interferred with many times, no calls, if you watched his interview
he hinted around about that, but would not elaborate, didn't want to be fined.

the refereeing this year is horrible, the worst i've seen in years, all over the NHL, not just
canuck games.
