yeah, he sure did. the game was played differently than it is today, too bad he doesn't play
now, with his speed, he would have fit right in with todays teams, whereas lots of the players
of that era could not even make todays teams.
he would have loved this canuck team, I can just see him playing with kesler, they
would have a ball.
In today's game he'd either be lighting the lamp or drawing penalties all the time.yeah, he sure did. the game was played differently than it is today, too bad he doesn't play

and there are some wonderful skaters playing 'now', so his skating abilities would not be
quite so 'set apart' from most others, as it was back then.
he was made for todays game, I wonder if he has a son or two growing up, don't know if hes
ever been married.

Not in the many games I watched, sure he could be good and flashy when he was in the open and no opponents were within 10'. His typical "hard work" lasted about 20 seconds each game- the time it took him to make a couple of "runs" down the ice. Why do you think they got rid of him? Compared to Linden or Stan Smyl the guy was a wuss. I didn't like him. Whiny little bastard.

you don't know what your talking about, seems like you watched but didn't 'see'.
he never whined about anything ever. made his statement that he would be leaving
the team, didn't whine to the journalists 'why', just did it, it was a matter of
principle.
he never whined on the ice, he was a tough competetor, could hit with the rest of
them, put one of the crulest elbows on a player I ever saw, it was retaliation for
a previous infraction against him.
he was the best fit player on the team, showed at training camp in their tests.
he was a happy guy and loved to play, and didn't have a lazy bone in his body.
the way the game was played then, (by all teams) was different than now, but that
has nothing to do with his play, he shone and stood out above the rest.

YouTube - bure drills churla the Mother of all elbows

Guess that's what forums are for - to agree to disagree.

yeah, that's right, and to be accurate or inaccurate with the opinion.
yes, that's the guy, churla, will never forget that hit.
That elbow was a thing of beauty-as well done as any goal Bure ever scored.yes, that's the guy, churla, will never forget that hit.
Hard to believe the Great One is turning 50. Seems like yesterday that he was amazing us with statistics like 50 goals in 39 games. Wonder if that record will ever fall!
yes, and can you imagine 92 goals in one season being done 'again', don't think so, and if he was
playing now he wouldn't do it either, but probably would still win lots of scoring titles.
and he criticized himself for not getting 100 because he had the 92 with still 8
games to go, and didn't score another goal that season.
Nashville tonight.
Very stingy team, they don't allow many goals and play a very responsible game, and they have a
great goalkeeper.
We should not get many penalties, as they have shay webber back there with an unbelievable slap
shot, if you 'remember' he was the one who shot the puck 'thru' the net at the olympics.
Hope Edler can go, he is game time decision, as he came to practice today having back spasms.
GO CANUCKS GO
That was pretty intense hockey. Take no prisoners.
Yep, it would be a mistake to take Nashville lightly- they can be the best or worst team in the league. Back to statistics, I think if memory serves me right Mogilny got 80 goals one year. He sure didn't do squat for the Canucks.
don't think it was quite that many, but he was very very talented, and came to play most of the
time, great skater, and great player, but he didn't show the desire everyone wanted to see,
but he did contribute, and he played so good with cliff ronning, and he was so dissapointed when
ronning was traded, and said he loved him as his centerman, as he could give out great passes.
he then went to new jersey and had a few good years with that team, till he got a hip problem which
finally put him in the minors, then out of the game.
canucks got a nice win tonight, typical nashville team, stingy stingy, great goalkeeper, but both
goalies were great tonight.
canucks started slow and gradually got better and better.
all-star break now, i'm looking forward to the week-end of smoozing and seeing the neat uniforms
and skills competition.
I enjoy the all-star week end, never take it seriously, it is just like open house at the school,
everyone gets together, lots of chit chats, g.m.s get together, owners and managers, and the city
where it is played gets to meet lots of players, buy souveniers and have a good time.
kesler, and the sedins will be participating.
teams will be picked friday, skills competition sat. and game on sunday, nice break for players to
heal some of their wounds and get lots of rest and be fresh for the run to the playoffs.
GO CANUCKS GO
I know for sure Mogilny got 76 goals one year with Buffalo, maybe 80 was a figment of my imagination:lol: Ronning was a great little guy and player, pound for pound probably second only to Theoren Fleury, another real gutty guy- too bad such a sad life.
