just watched press conference with trevor linden introducing jim benning as canucks next gen. manager.
i felt good listening to jim benning describe what he wants this team to represent.
to begin with, he said they 'must' be a true 'four line' team, as that is what is needed in todays
team, and the four teams left playing right now do just that. he wants the 3rd and 4th lines to be
very represented on the team and be a big part of the play, as the first and second lines are the top
skilled players on the team and the 3rd and 4th lines must support that system by being gritty and
able to play the game in the 'other' teams end most of the time.
his deepest asset is his scouting skills, his father was a scout, he learned the skills from him, then went
on to become a head scout in the buffalo organization, then moved on to the bruins, and became assist.
gen. manager.
the canucks have definitely turned completely around on this day, and will work hard to turn the team
back round to face the right direction, and begin moving them forward again, he also said he can see
this team can be a fast fix, as he likes the core of the team, and will build around them, and support
them with players that will complement them.
over the next couple of weeks they will work on interviewing next coach, and also preparing for the
draft.
