I am already getting stoked for this series. It will be a rush just seeing the teams take to the ice on Wednesday with towel power in full force. Predictions? Boston is a very good team. They are positionally strong and take away lanes for skating and passing. The Sedins-type play might not be anywhere near as effective in this series as the last. Scoring opportunities will be fewer. Will need some puck luck and a few unlikely heroes to emerge.

I agree with you to a point, but I do think boston lacks speed, and canucks should be able to
push them very hard, and make them chase quite a bit, could cause penalties on boston, we'll see.

Your're right about positionally strong, but I've only seen them stick to their game plan once in
the last series, (last game), didn't take any penalties, but even that game was much slower than
any canuck game has been.
They are big and play well, but I just haven't seen the 60 minute dicipline in any game, and I've
seen them look sluggish at times, too slow, and I'm very interested to see if that shows up in
the next series.
They should have taken care of tampa bay much quicker than they did, but t.b. speed got to them, and
caused penalties, because boston just couldn't, or wouldn't speed up their game.

I think it will be the goalies that will decide, although I don't think thomas can be consistent
enough to stone canucks over a 7 game series.

Maurice Richard was a big strong determined competetive 'winner', and he would pack other players along behind him, as they tried to stop him.
They have some clips of him driving along the ice with players clinging to him and still he manages to score the goal. Now that's determination.

I also remember montreal rioting the night they suspended him, that was the craziest thing I remember in canadian hockey.
They were dubbed the Richard Riots and came about after Campbell suspended the Rocket for punching out another player and a ref - mind you the referee actual held Maurice while another player tried to punch his lights out. Maurice was suspended for the rest of the year but the opposing player did not receive even a game suspension.

When Richard died Quebec held a state funeral in his honor - the first and to date only, state funeral held for an athlete. Kind says it all about what this man meant to the province and to the game of hockey.

I'll watch for the show about him.
After watching the movie last night, I decided to do a bit of research on the history of hockey in Canada and from what I have been reading - it is a good thing there are rules to prevent violence in hockey. For instance, I had no idea that 3 hockey players actually died as a result of beatings taken on the ice. Also read that some coaches hired 'goons' simply to take out good players on the opposing team in anyway possible. The Rocket was actually targeted by Boston and a player named Dill was supposed to 'kill' him but got his own lumps when Maurice thumped him good.

I sure have a heightened respect for what players faced in the early days of hockey and for the people who worked hard to clean up the sport. I know that fighting is still a part of hockey and that some fans look forward to the odd brawl but am very glad the days of extreme on-ice violence are well behind us.

When Boston plays their positioning game they slow things down because the lanes aren't there. But, as you said, if they don't keep that up they'll be chasing. Will be interesting to see how it unfolds.

yeah, and they don't have the ability of nashville with that type of play, so, hopefully canucks
can force them out of their comfort zone and mix them up, causing them to panic a bit.

but they will have their times too, they are big, and thomas can be a handful, but I saw boston
take a lot of stupid penalties, but then so did canucks in a couple of games, and that again brings
in the officiating, if they have the ones we had last game, they will let them punish each other,
but others will call everything.

hmmmmm, fun to try to figure it out.

i'm getting a bit restless, can't stand waiting any longer.

All discussions aside, Canucks in five. And then the Boston Grannys can get back to their tea party.

Doesn't Colin Campbell's son play for Boston?

Yep, 20 miles further, you might want to check the distance to Montreal. It may be further than T.B.!

20 miles?

Vancouver to Tampa Bay 4177 kilometers.
Vancouver to Montreal 3693 kilometers.
Vancouver to Miami 4505 kilometers.

A long series no matter how you slice it though.

Vancouver to New York is a long one as well.

You are right on the money, my figures are in brackets.

Good reason to call a fix if things go sideways.

I hope the Canucks sweep. I'm getting tired of this playoff beard.

OK.............four if it suits you better.

Well if it goes to what suits me... I'd want the B's in four!

Your prediction is more logical. First two in Vancouver to Canucks, B's take one at home, then lose the 5th. That sounds more likely.
