Most insurance policies have a clause definitively asking if the property is a rental unit, if the owners did not state they were renting it out...no insurance. Sad but true.

One of the 'benefits' of using Airbnb is........

Airbnb has told CBC News that the King family will be reimbursed through its Host Guarantee insurance, which provides up to $1 million "to eligible properties in the rare event of guest damages which are not resolved directly with the guest."

I must say I am giggling at the King's welcome letter..........

actually they should care more if you get my drift

Most times you can walk down a street and tell which homes are owner occupied and which ones are rentals. When you own something you tend to look after it better. Obviously, there are always exceptions, but I hold this to be true.

More barilko random, needless insults and stupidity I see.

Could be a dead ringer for a fellow I worked with years ago............academically probably fairly bright but socially, dumber than a sack of rocks! :)

Screen doors. Rentals never have screen doors or screen doors with no screens.

My luck the owner would be home with a loaded shotgun.....................I wasn't cut out for a life of crime.
Sides, copper wire and pipe's heavy:-(

Yep, life is so much easier if you are honest, and an extra bonus is you don't have to keep track of your lies! :)

Canadian man wrecks ‘charming’ Paris pad
Brad Hunter, Toronto Sun

A Paris woman was mortified when she returned to her “charming” Paris pad to find it covered in poo and pee.
And Laurie Synakowski is fingering her Canadian Airbnb renter for causing $15,000 in damages.
Synakowski told Paris papers a Canadian man rented out her 13-square-metre apartment for three weeks in August.
But she later wrote on Facebook: “The charming studio had literally been transformed into a ‘squat’ full of excrement, urine and an impressive quantity of empty alcohol bottles.”
She added: “I was really shocked and devastated to find my studio in that state when I returned.”
An actress and dancer, Synakowski told The Local she lives in the studio apartment most of the time but rents it when she’s on the road.
The perturbed Parisian never met her gruesome guest but said she had no reason to be suspicious and her neighbours said he seemed “nice.”
Later she learned the Canadian was an alcoholic plagued by depression.
He used her bed as a toilet and plastered the apartment in pee, warped the flooring, jammed the front door and wrecked the bathroom, she said. The apartment was covered top-to-bottom in garbage.
Synakowski claimed she spent all her savings making the studio a home, calling it her “jewel.”
“The (clean-up) costs are enormous,” she wrote. “I had the courage to take new pictures despite the smell, insects and impurities that proliferate. It’s getting harder to bear this and ‘surprises’ in plastic bags.”
Airbnb says they are investigating and described the guest from hell as “extremely rare”.
