Alberta private school closed amid allegations of pocketing public dollars

An Alberta home-schooling association has been ousted for allegedly pocketing nearly $1 million taxpayer dollars from Alberta Education that was meant to fund the education of thousands of students.

According to the ministry of education, Trinity Christian School Association is suspected siphoning government funds for years.

Effective immediately, the ministry has cancelled their registration and accreditation as a private school operator.
Minister of Education David Eggen said the decision to close the school comes after an audit of Trinity’s financials, which found numerous issues and determined that public funding was directed to a third party, Wisdom Home Schooling Society.

“The decision to cancel accreditation and registration from Trinity Christian School Association was made out of respect for taxpayers and the many families who entrusted this school to properly account for the funding granted for the purposes of their children’s education,” Eggen said.

I don't quite follow the point of your post..................you've merely copied and pasted from the link. What was the school supposed to do with the money besides provide education? Are you saying they were paid too much money in the first place? Whose fault would that be? There wouldn't be a chance you have a "hard on" for private schools, would you?

I think you answered your own question. University is probably the biggest rip as far as graduates doing what they were trained for yet they still payed big bucks to become a shoe salesman. The elite would have been the ones to get the education and the high paying positions. The game starts with a stacked deck and besides that the whole table belongs to the same club.

They funneled the money to a home school association. It's not the taxpayer's job to fund home schooling.

Just the material, no salaries for the teacher. Their tests are the same as in public school. It is the fact they score much higher that is the sore point.

Dipper ideologues are at it again. They don't like private schools and they certainly don't like home schooling. They could have chosen to place an overseer to handle things until they dismantled the board or replaced the members but we know that was never an option considered. Shutting down the private school was far more important to the Dippers than the needs of the parents and students

How is it inferior ? If a child can pass the required tests at the end of term , they are probably better off then most public school children .

It's not testing results that are there problem.

It's the fact that you cannot adequately measure and/or standardise the teaching itself which leads to an inconsistent curriculum.
