Can't say I actually watched the game last night. I was busy doing other things, but good on the Habs for pulling off the victory.

I expected Pittsburgh to put up a better showing, and I know that Crosby's boarding penalty at 0:10 into the game was meant to be a message to Gorges, the Habs, and the Penguins. Unfortunately, it backfired on him, and that was all she wrote.
I'm certainly hoping for Montreal now, it's amazing how a team can barely make it to the playoffs, and then come alive like that. As they say, it aint over til the fat lady sings.

I have a theory for that. Some teams good or bad seem to play some teams better than others, probably more to do with playing style than with actually how "good" they are. So if a "poor" team happens to match up with the right team in the playoffs they can be lucky adversely if a "good" teams matches up with a team they can't play well.....................then it's off to the golf course for them. Hats off to the Champs, it's not easy getting to the finals three years in a row and I think one of the main reasons Detroit and Pitts are out is fatigue.
Not sure why the Pens were getting booed in the second period by their own fans, they should be proud, this team will be threatening for many years to come.
Heart can win you games and I think the Habs just had more of it, you could see it during the game, the Pens just didn't seem interested.
I have a feeling the Bruins are toast, so my biggest fear is coming true....the Flyers...I don't hate any team more than that gaggle of goons.

The hardest working team won this series. Cudos have to go first to Jacques Martin who badly outcoached Dan Bylsma, then to Halak, Cammalleri and the rest of the Montreal defense corps, who showed they could shut down the top 2 players in the league in 2 consecutive series. Pittsburgh's brass has to be regretting Hal Gill's slipping away from them in the off season to join the team that would eliminate them.
There were a lot of things I didn't like in this series, some were in the Pens control, some weren't. The Pens need to do some serious soulsearching after this one: they should not have lost to the Habs. Fleury was at times brilliant but at times barely average. The rest of the roster needs to play a complete 60 minutes, something they didn't do for the majority of this series. The Pens fans had a right to boo them in the 2nd because they waited for the game to be half over (and the score to be 4-0) before they showed up: that is not what makes champions.
In the end, the Pens didn't deserve to win this and I still refuse to cheer for Team Euro-wannabe. Go anyone but the Habs.

I agree Avro, every game I seen the Pens in, they didn't seem all interested, or as interested as they should be.... and no, I'm not going to make excuses, because I didn't really expect the pens to go very far in the first place, but having Crosby win Canada some gold in the Olympics would probably have taken a bit of steam from his engine.

I'd like to thank Criesby for getting that first penalty, started the rout for us. Maybe he can go to the worlds now and help out team Canada, they could use it.
As for the looting....shameful...but those aren't hockey fans...those are opportunists and criminals.

Super game, Bart. The Habs came out like gangbusters and skated circles around the Pens. They were everywhere at once all over the ice. They were simply fantastic and deserve this win and all the glory. So happy for you.
With the Pens eliminated, I am going to start cheering for Montreal. One more voice in the growing chorus of .... GO, HABS, GO!
I agree with you wulfie. I thought the Pens play was lack lustre and shoddy to say the least. They passed the puck to open ice, missed passes and generally seemed to stand around while the Habs looked like superstars on skates.
The Habs deserve this and I am happy for all you fans.
Maybe the habs forced that attitude onto them, brought them
to a stand still, they were beaten before they were beaten.
