I might vote for a true conservative if any put themselves forward for election. These current Conservatives, whatever they are, aren't conservatives in any meaningful sense, that's just the label they use. Might as well call themselves Gazorgumplatzers for all the bearing it has on reality. True conservatives are people like Robert Stanfield, Peter Lougheed, Joe Clark, Dalton Camp... People of principle and honour and compassion. These guys just look like thugs to me, and except for the PM, not very smart ones.

It's a joke. Geez, don't get all PC on me now.

It's not a joke. There are idiots who actually believe that bull crap. And PC is what I am.

Joe Clark has about as much principle as a burned down reform school.

Thanks to Joe Clark stabbing this guy in the back.

The Country ended up with this guy for Prime Minister.

Principle my ass.

as NDP move into statistical tie with Tories: poll

Only a month into the leadership of Thomas Mulcair, the NDP has moved into a statistical tie with the federal Conservatives in the latest Nanos poll, while Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s leadership ratings have drastically dropped.

The NDP surge comes as the Conservative government has taken hits on the bungled F-35 file and the robocall scandal.

The Tories led at 34.7%, closely followed the NDP at 32.4%, while the Liberals trail at 23.3% in the poll. The Greens and the Bloc Quebecois come in at 4.2% and 3.9%, respectively. Almost 19% of voters said they were undecided in the poll taken between April 13 and April 18.

I don't wonder, he should have kicked that Bev Oda's sorry ass out the door. There is a distinct "oda" about that woman!

Actually Joe was one of the most principled P.M.s this country ever had.

Evidently you haven't paid much attention to Joe Clark, or heard him speak, or met him. Maybe he thought your first "this guy" was a foolish demagogue lacking tact and discretion, which seems a fairly accurate assessment to me, and I dunno who your second "this guy" represented by the exclamation mark inside the yellow triangle is. Gotta be either Trudeau or Mulroney, which is a bit of a "lesser evil" choice, but I'd take Trudeau over Mulroney any day.

Evidently Joe Clark, after losing his bid in the leadership convention, promised John Crosby that he would throw his support behind him for leader as well as urge his supporters to do the same. When it came down to crunch time he broke that promise and Brian Mulroney won the leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party.

He was a spineless leader and upon his return as leader of the PC's it was either his arrogance or stupidity that stood in the way of Uniting the Right and offering up an alternative to the arrogant and corrupt Chretien government. I have no illusions about who the principled politicians are up there on the hill. There are few and Joe Clark is not among them.

Wow, two red points from Walter. I must be right.

Red points generally indicate something about the donor moreso than the idea. Maybe it would be a good idea if when one hits the red a pop up comes up asking for an explanation before the red is registered. I get lots of reds from one poster who is just being himself.

I hope you don't have to eat your words.................things don't look too good for either Christy or the Conservatives in B.C. right now.

I was speaking federally. Here in BC (AKA lala land) people often vote against their best interests to spite themselves. Either that or so many did way too much drugs and forgot how bad things were both times we had dippers destroying the economy.

Yeah, you are right about many people in B.C. People have to learn that the only "short cut" to properity and success is hard work (often for low pay) over many years.......................unless you don't mind ripping off the rest of the electorate or be a politician (oops I guess that's the same thing) . I wonder when the N.D.P. get back in if they'll hire Lizzy Cull as a consultant to help with drawing up budgets.

I like the Bloc better than the PCs

The Bloc and NDP stood for the Canadian People and transparency while the Progressive Conservatives and Liberals backed Monsanto and Crop Life on the issue of GMO labeling. At a Food Sovereignty forum last month. The Ag critic for the Official Opposition told how the Lobbyist from Crop Life would rather the motion not be debated on the floor. Boo and Double Boo to the 2 old line parties for selling Us and our children out to the Witch (Monsanto) in sleeping beauty...

Occupy_food_sovereignty_47 - YouTube short video in our Ag Critics own words.

I love the Bloc and NDP for sticking up for us. Thanks to them...
