Unions Stand with the Global Sumud Flotilla

PSI joins the ITUC in expressing our deep concern over potential attacks by the Israeli government against the Global Sumud Flotilla.

The Flotilla set sail from Barcelona at the beginning of the month to deliver aid to Gaza, following a training workshop held at the International Brigades Hall of the UGT (a PSI member).

Dozens of healthcare workers, humanitarian personnel, activists and trade unionists are on board the boats of the Flotilla and many PSI member unions including CGIL-FP, CCOO and UGT are providing support.

Meanwhile our members from the Gaza Healthcare Workers Union have called on unions around the world to build pressure on Israel to stop the war and allow the delivery of urgent medical supplies needed to save lives.

PSI has prepared a database of corporations with links to the 'economy of occupation.' Unions can review the list to identify corporations based or operating in their country, assess any involvement with government contracts, collective bargaining, public subsidies, concessions, royalties or pension fund investments and determine further action.

PSI will continue to monitor this situation closely and stand against any aggression by the Israeli government against the Flotilla and its participants.
