I think its time to start a new thread in regards to The New York Declaration.

Israel and the US fucked up big time.
That’s probably a great idea!

I tried to start one (I guess I didn’t start it) to keep Canada’s whatever influences regarding that goat rodeo separate, like this:
Keeping the Canada centric stuff about this here in there, etc… otherwise it just becomes a big omnibus mess.

1. Multilateral and Regional Statements
Joint Statement by 16 Nations (September 16): Foreign ministers from Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Ireland, Libya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mexico, Pakistan, Qatar, Oman, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, and Türkiye affirmed shared goals of "peace and humanitarian aid delivery" aligned with international law.

They pledged to hold violators accountable for attacks on vessels or detentions in international waters, emphasizing the flotilla's role in addressing Gaza's crisis. South Africa's DIRCO highlighted this as a stand against the "illegal siege," tying it to broader Palestinian rights.

Broader Global Echoes: Delegations from Australia, New Zealand, and others (totaling 39+ countries) have committed vessels, with calls for governmental backing. New Zealand's Palestine Forum urged its government to "ensure safe passage" and amplify the mission.
2. Country-Specific Actions and Endorsements
Country
Key Support Actions
Impact on Sumud
Spain
Full diplomatic and consular protection for participants; Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares warned Israel against interference, citing international law. Hosts Barcelona launch with port access.
Shields civilians from threats, enabling non-violent aid delivery as acts of endurance.
Malaysia
Officially sponsored the "Watermelon Flotilla" and "Sumud Nusantara" vessels departing August 23 with aid; government-backed solidarity ties to regional anti-blockade efforts.
Direct logistical aid reinforces economic sumud through food sovereignty.
South Africa
Led the joint statement; President Ramaphosa's administration links flotilla to ICJ genocide case, calling for "unimpeded aid." Civil society mobilizes under government auspices.
Frames sumud as anti-apartheid resistance, inspiring land and community defense.
Ireland
Joined joint statement; TDs like Senator Chris Andrews publicly urged the government to "grow a backbone" and emulate the flotilla's aid efforts, criticizing inaction on arms sales.
Boosts political sumud via parliamentary motions for ceasefire and recognition.
Pakistan
Signed joint statement; Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman and Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan called for UN/OIC intervention and a Pakistani relief ship. PIMA's September 22 press conference demanded "urgent action" beyond words.
Amplifies faith-based sumud, urging diplomatic and humanitarian fleets.
Mexico
Joint statement signatory; September 21 Mexico City march (thousands strong) demanded government cut ties with Israel and enforce ceasefire, directly supporting flotilla.
Grassroots pressure elevates sumud to policy demands for isolation of occupation.
United Kingdom
Early Day Motion in Parliament (September 2025) expresses "solidarity" with the flotilla as the "largest humanitarian effort" to Gaza, noting the blockade's 17-year toll on 2.1 million. Bishops and MPs push for arms bans and economic measures.
Parliamentary advocacy protects cultural sumud through recognition and sanctions.
Italy
Hosts Genoa/Sicily departures; despite military denials of spying, mass protests (50,000 in Milan, 20,000 in Rome on September 23) under USB union's general strike demand government suspend military ties with Israel.
Labor mobilization defends everyday sumud against demolitions and starvation.
3. Calls for Escalation and Protection
UN and International Bodies: Experts like Francesca Albanese decry the flotilla's necessity as a "consequence of international failure," urging Security Council action for safe corridors. Climate Action Network (CAN) demands governments ensure "unhindered passage," linking sumud to climate justice.
US Context: 8 U.S. veterans joined September 2025, protesting government complicity; an open letter to President Trump demands consular support and aid redirection. DSA calls for strikes if intercepted.
Broader Advocacy: In Pakistan and Ireland, religious leaders and MPs tie support to sumud's spiritual resilience. Globally, calls urge sanctions, arms embargoes, and flotilla escorts—transforming civilian defiance into state-backed pressure.
This governmental momentum underscores sumud's evolution: from local perseverance to a protected international imperative. As Israeli threats mount (e.g., labeling it a "Hamas threat"), these endorsements deter aggression and sustain Palestinian dignity. To amplify: Contact your foreign ministry via templates at globalsumudflotilla.org, join #ProtectSumud vigils, or petition for your government's signature on the joint statement. Updates via @GlobalSumudFlt or OHCHR. Free Gaza—sumud endures with solidarity. 🇵🇸

You've only scratched the surface.

If the boats get fucked with unions are cutting off Israel from everything.
I’ve always wondered why things like CUPE and such are spending their members dues on the political flavours of the day? As a union member I’d be pissed.

I don’t mean this situation specifically, but I mean in general. That’s not what I would be paying my union dues towards, but that’s neither here or there I guess. Canadian unions do it all the time for things that don’t benefit their union members, or not all of them anyway.

There have already been strikes over this. Its not union management.

Blow your focus off of Greta. It doesn't look good on you.

Search the Genoa strikes.

Interesting.

Apparently. I wonder how that works? Does it have to stay in international Waters unless it’s invited through a naval blockade? I asked because I really don’t know.

It would definitely be considered a noncombatant, but would it also be open to search (weaponry, contraband, etc) if it’s attempting to violate a blockade? This is interesting…can another nations naval vessels blow through a blockade during a war?

I can appreciate the ironic humour involved with whatever this self-aggrandizing enviro-wingnut latches onto. Regardless of the topic, I’d still probably be laughing at it if it involved her in all honesty.

Now don’t let that stop you from being a fanboy just because I’m laughing at her regardless of the topic, etc…😉

I was watching some of the Milan protests last night, and the fascist (or is it anti-fascist) protests in France the night before. Things are coming apart at the seams.

This has exactly what to do with Italian trade unions? If these trade unions are shutting down commerce over non-union politics…do you think there should be some repercussions for those unions?

One ...just one union.

Unione Sindacale di Base (USB)

Italy Led a million-strong general strike on September 22, 2025 halting ports, trains, and schools in solidarity with the flotilla and against Gaza genocide. Genoa dockworkers (via USB affiliate CALP) collected aid, sent representatives aboard, and pledged to shut European ports to Israeli ships if attacked. Hosted an international dockers' meeting (Sept 26–27) to block arms flows.

Below is a list of unions and federations supporting sumud (Palestinian steadfastness) in 2025, particularly through actions tied to the Global Sumud Flotilla and related solidarity efforts.

The list is designed for easy copying and clarity, focusing on key unions, their regions, and specific actions.

Unions Supporting Sumud (2025)

World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU)
Region: Global (110M+ workers, 134 countries)

Actions: Issued solidarity statement (Sept 3, 2025) supporting Global Sumud Flotilla against Gaza blockade. Saluted USB dockworkers for aid collection. Committed to escalating actions for Palestinian rights, including ending occupation and right of return.

Unione Sindacale di Base (USB)
Region: Italy (grassroots, rank-and-file)
Actions: Led million-strong general strike (Sept 22, 2025) halting ports, trains, schools in solidarity with flotilla and against Gaza genocide. Genoa dockworkers (USB affiliate CALP) collected aid, sent flotilla representatives, pledged to shut European ports if flotilla attacked. Hosted international dockers’ meeting (Sept 26–27) to block arms flows.

Public Services International (PSI)
Region: Global (public sector workers)

Actions: Expressed concern over Israeli threats to flotilla (Sept 2025). Italian affiliates (CGIL-FP) and Spanish affiliates (CCOO, UGT) provided training and onboard support for healthcare workers and activists.

International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC)

Region: Global (200M+ workers)
Actions: Issued statement (Sept 23, 2025) with PSI urging respect for international law and safe flotilla passage for unionists and activists.

Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) and Unión General de Trabajadores (UGT)

Region: Spain
Actions: Supported flotilla logistics from Barcelona (departure port). Provided training at UGT’s International Brigades Hall. Joined 50,000+ pre-launch demonstrations in Genoa.

Genoa Dockworkers’ Collective (CALP, USB affiliate)

Region: Italy (Genoa)
Actions: Pledged port shutdowns if flotilla intercepted. Members sailed from Genoa (Aug 30, 2025) during 50,000-person solidarity march.

Egyptian Professional Unions and Political Parties

Region: Egypt (15+ groups)
Actions: Launched "Egyptian Sumud Flotilla" (Sept 8, 2025) to join global aid effort. Sought permissions for sea aid delivery as a "national duty" against genocide.

Gaza Health Unions

Region: Palestine (Gaza)
Actions: Welcomed flotilla (Sept 8, 2025) as a "lifeline" for Gaza’s collapsing medical sector. Urged safe delivery of medicines and equipment.

Unionists for Palestine
Region: Australia
Actions: Organized overnight picket (Sept 21, 2025) at Bisalloy Steels in Wollongong to block armored steel exports to Israel. Sent solidarity message to flotilla and European strikers.

Dockworkers’ Unions (WFTU Affiliates)
Region: Italy, Greece, France

Actions: Refused to load weapons for Israel. Supported WFTU’s call to "close ports" if flotilla threatened.

Notes
Context: The Global Sumud Flotilla (launched late Aug 2025 from Spain) involves 300+ participants on 50 ships from 44 nations, aiming to break Israel’s Gaza blockade with humanitarian aid. Unions are central to logistics, strikes, and arms embargo campaigns.

Key Actions: Strikes (e.g., Italy’s Sept 22 action), port blockades, and aid delivery embody "workers’ sumud," linking Palestinian resilience to global labor struggles.

Sorry, but I have at least a full-time job, and I’m on call 24 hours a day, and I have a life and responsibilities outside of work also so…so here we are. I play here for stress, relief, and not for reading assignments, as I have enough of those as it is.😁

I’ll see what I can see between things.

You'd have more time if you read my posts and not searching in left field for maps, bullshit on Hamas, or other gibberish.

I can run a business while operating heavy equipment and still post updated news.

Shit is moving fast.

Workers’ Sumud: Unions Embodying Palestinian Steadfastness

"Workers’ sumud" refers to the global labor movement’s solidarity with the Palestinian concept of sumud (steadfastness), channeling resilience and resistance through strikes, blockades, and aid efforts to support Palestine, particularly during the 2025 Gaza crisis and the Global Sumud Flotilla.
