Here I thought everyone wanted this to end?

Meh…this is from a month ago or more, and I was trying to recall what those last two lines said, etc…do you honestly think that if somebody was gonna step up to the plate to police Gaza & provide guaranteed security for both Gaza
and Israel, these Israelis wouldn’t be all over that? Have Gaza become somebody else’s problem, & know that rockets and missiles wouldn’t be flying out of there periodically into Israel?
I hear you. It is entertaining though. Anyway, would Hamas go for Blue Helmet UN Peace Keepers and disarm, or is this just another way to draw this out longer?

So…If the world, or the UN, or whomever, rewards Hamas/Iran for Oct 7th, & establishes a Palestinian state, whatever that actually means, would Hamas disarm and disband (?) or is this just another propaganda stalling point?

OK, so the UN declares Palestine at state in the next week…then what? Where does Hamas fit into that (?) or does it?
Israel considers the disarmament of Hamas one of several key conditions for any deal to end the conflict. The Palestinian armed group (guess which one?) said it was responding to remarks it attributed to US President Donald Trump's Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff that Hamas had "expressed its willingness" to lay down its weapons.
Hamas has reaffirmed that it will not agree to disarm unless a sovereign Palestinian state is established, in response to one of Israel's key demands in talks about a ceasefire in Gaza, so let’s assume that PR stunt happens in the next week. Then what?
Hamas - a proscribed terror group in the US, UK and EU - said in its statement that it could not yield its right to "resistance and its weapons" unless an "independent, fully sovereign Palestinian state
with Jerusalem as it’s capital" was established.
Why Jerusalem? Why not? Maybe the UN will vote on that too? Guess that vote (on Palestine without Hamas) already happened.

The United Nations General Assembly on Friday (yesterday) overwhelmingly endorsed a declaration outlining “tangible, time-bound and irreversible steps” toward a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians, without the involvement of Hamas. Israel rejected the declaration, calling it a prize for the terror group.
One hundred and forty-two countries voted in favor of the non-binding resolution enshrining the New York Declaration, which also calls on Hamas to release all hostages and condemns the terror group’s October 7, 2023, onslaught.
The declaration, which was endorsed by the Arab League and co-signed in July by 17 UN member states, including several Arab countries, also goes further than condemning Hamas, seeking to fully excise the terror group from leadership in Gaza.
“In the context of ending the war in Gaza, Hamas must end its rule in Gaza and hand over its weapons to the Palestinian Authority, with international engagement and support, in line with the objective of a sovereign and independent Palestinian State,” the declaration stated.
The United States described the vote as “yet another misguided and ill-timed publicity stunt” that undermined serious diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.
“Make no mistake, this resolution is a gift to Hamas,” US diplomat Morgan Ortagus told the General Assembly. “Far from promoting peace, the conference has already prolonged the war, emboldened Hamas, and harmed the prospects of peace in both the short and long term.”
Palestinian Authority Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh welcomed the vote, writing on X, “This resolution expresses international willingness to support our people’s rights and constitutes an important step towards ending the occupation and achieving our independent state on 1967 borders with (Israeli-annexed)
EAST Jerusalem as its capital.”
Oh, so not Jerusalem as its capital, but EAST Jerusalem as its capital. Well, that’s interesting all by itself.
The war in Gaza began with the October 7, 2023, attack, when thousands of Hamas-led terrorists invaded Israel, killing some 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages and the outcome will be….
Ok so that’s happened, or will happen, etc…
…and this might happen. The Palestinian identity is an identity, even if it’s a contemporary one. The Israel identity is…what? At least relevant to the conversation? Both have a right to exist in peace. Neither side trusts the other. This latest chapter about the affront of Israel existing has already gone on for almost 2 years.
