How did all this begin?
…& when? Did it all begin in 1913 (?) or October 7th, or some date potentially centuries or longer before either above date?

The people that later (about 1964) would call themselves Palestinians, in the former Ottoman provinces, which where something else before the Ottomans, etc…

Anyway, between things as I putter trying to avoid the big chores today for a while, I’ve come to realize that I’ve been mashing debate with two different people in two different threads on two different subjects together…& as I come back to my phone to take breaks…I’ve created a dogs breakfast of replies between the two threads and two different people. Good times.

1913 was pivotal. Check it out. It can be listened to.

The Palestinian group Hamas said on Sunday that a new proposal meant to bridge the gaps between Israel and the Islamist armed group over a Gaza ceasefire were too close to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's recent positions.

What was proposed on July 2 and by whom and who accepted it (?) etc…?

Hamas' statement came only hours after U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken arrived in Israel in a bid to secure a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal, dimming hopes for an imminent breakthrough in negotiations.

Hamas received the new proposal from mediators, Qatar, Egypt and the United States, following a two-day round of talks in Doha.

It said that the new proposal was aligned with Netanyahu, who refuses to end the war and withdraw Israeli forces from Gaza, including from the border with Egypt, two conditions the group sees as the basis for any agreement.
"We hold Netanyahu fully responsible for thwarting the mediators' efforts, delaying the agreement, and for the lives of his prisoners who are exposed to the same danger as our people due to his ongoing aggression and systematic targeting of all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip," said Hamas.

"We call on the mediators to assume their responsibilities and compel the occupation to implement what was agreed upon," Hamas said, adding that it was fully committed to the previous July proposal?

On Sunday, Hamas demanded that Gaza cease-fire mediators present a plan to implement a proposal supported by Biden that it had agreed upon on July 2.

It came after Egyptian, Qatari, and US mediators urged Israel and Hamas last week to conclude a cease-fire and hostage release deal with no further delays or excuses.

On Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to send his negotiating team to Qatar to attend a planned round of talks on Thursday, and Hamas didn’t attend.

Indirect talks mediated by the US, Qatar, and Egypt have failed to agree on a permanent cease-fire and a hostage-prisoner swap over Netanyahu’s refusal to accept Hamas’ demand to end the war on Gaza Hamas…as Hamas are not Palestinians, but something or another when convenient for propaganda purposes for both sides of this goat rodeo, etc…

Bib wont give up the settlements. No fucking way. That has always been his sticking point.

The JKK wants Judea, Samaria and all of Jerusalem. Its not a hidden conspiracy theory or antisemitic.

Bibi is going to have to move on forgetting about one or twoof them for now.

U.S. college presidents who have resigned over their handling of Gaza protests
On Tuesday, the president of Columbia University became the latest to resign

Protests against the war in Gaza have put intense pressure on U.S. college leaders, who are charged with bridging bitter campus divides while balancing free speech rights with concern for safety on campus.

On Tuesday, the president of Columbia University, Minouche Shafik, became the latest to resign under pressure for the handling of protests.

Like many of her counterparts, Shafik faced blowback from many corners: Some students groups blasted her decision to invite police in to arrest protesters. Republicans in Congress and others called on her to do more to call out antisemitism. And the university’s arts-and-science faculty passed a no-confidence resolution against her.

Here is a look at other college leaders who have resigned or faced hard questioning.

University of Pennsylvania
Liz Magill of Penn was the first of three Ivy League presidents to resign following contentious appearances before Congress, ahead of Harvard’s Claudine Gay and Shafik at Columbia.

Magill stepped down in December after less than two years on the job. She faced pressure from donors and criticism over testimony at a congressional hearing where she was unable to say under repeated questioning that calls on campus for the genocide of Jews would violate the school’s conduct policy.

Criticism of Magill rained down from the White House, Democratic Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and members of Congress. Lawyers for a major donor to Penn, Ross Stevens, threatened to withdraw a gift valued at $100 million because of the university’s “stance on antisemitism on campus” unless Magill was replaced.

Harvard University
Claudine Gay, Harvard’s first Black president, faced similar criticism for offering lawyerly answers at the same hearing before a U.S. House committee on antisemitism on college campuses. Gay apologized, telling the student newspaper she failed to properly denounce threats of violence against Jewish students.

Gay resigned in January, announcing her departure just months into her tenure.

Following the congressional hearing, Gay’s academic career came under intense scrutiny by conservative activists who unearthed several instances of alleged plagiarism in her 1997 doctoral dissertation. Gay, in her resignation letter, said it was distressing to have her commitment to confronting hate questioned and frightening “to be subjected to personal attacks and threats fueled by racial animus.”

Columbia University
Shafik lamented in her resignation letter that during her tenure it was “difficult to overcome divergent views across our community.”

Pro-Palestinian protesters first set up tent encampments on Columbia’s campus during Shafik’s congressional testimony in mid-April, when she denounced antisemitism but faced criticism for how she responded to faculty and students accused of bias.

Despite weathering the tumult that followed, she said she decided over the summer to step down. “This period has taken a considerable toll on my family, as it has for others in the community,” she wrote.

Her announcement also came just days after the school confirmed three deans had resigned after officials said they exchanged disparaging texts during a campus discussion about Jewish life and antisemitism.

Others who have been on the hot seat
Many other administrators have endured calls to resign from members of Congress and segments of their campus communities.

President Sally Kornbluth of MIT, for one, was questioned at the same hearing as Magill and Gay but did not face the same pressure to step down. She said at the hearing that speech targeted at individuals, not public statements, would be considered a violation of bullying and harassment policies. The chair of the MIT Corporation signaled its support for Kornbluth, who is Jewish.

Others, including University of Massachusetts Chancellor Javier Reyes, have faced ferocious criticism from faculty members for calling in police to break up peaceful demonstrations when protesters refused to leave. Reyes has defended calling in law enforcement as the last resort.

College leaders who struck agreements with students to resolve demonstrations also have faced the ire of Congress members. At a hearing last May, Northwestern President Michael Schill and Rutgers President Jonathan Holloway told lawmakers they defused the danger without ceding ground to protesters.

Was that what was agreed to July 2nd by someone? Who agreed to it? Who didn’t? What was proposed by Biden in June & what did Hamas agree to in July that I’m assuming Egypt/Qatar proposed on their own tangent? Why?

I thought the beef was about Israel not agreeing to bugging out of:
1) The Smugglers Corridor along the Gaza/Egypt border so Iran can resupply Hamas with what UNRWA can’t provide.
2) Then the whole of Gaza so that Hamas can redeploy for October 7th 2.0 like already promised.
3) Funding to rebuild the tunnel infrastructure under Gaza for humanitarian purposes, etc…
4) Israeli Hostages from Oct 7th & “Palestinian/Hamas” prisoners in incarceration in Israel all being irrelevant?
5) A return to a cease-fire like what was in existence Oct 6th before….well, before there wasn’t a cease-fire I guess. No harm no foul & Hamas boys will be boys type shit? Oh, yeah, with Hamas remaining in control of Gaza for round “next” with Israel? Something like that?
6) Hamas having its cake & eating it too, wanting to be rewarded for Oct 7th.

Once those first six points are dealt with, then real estate land swaps with respect to the land area Israel took back from Jordan in 1967 that Jordan annexed in 1950 and what will someday become Palestine, or part of it, or parts of it? With ultimate peace coming only once Israel doesn’t exist any longer? Something like that?

Hamas is repeating its demands (regarding the negotiations they couldn’t be bothered to attend): a total cessation of combat (while blocking the possibility of Israel resuming the fighting if the deal collapses after the first phase, in which hostages will be released on a "humanitarian" basis), and a full withdrawal of the IDF from Gaza (another serious problem is anticipated regarding the IDF remaining in a security perimeter close to the border fence).

Months of on-off talks have circled the same issues, with Israel saying the war can only end with the destruction of Hamas as a military and political force and Hamas saying it will only accept a permanent, and not a temporary, ceasefire.

There are disagreements over Israel's continued military presence inside Gaza, particularly along the border with Egypt, over the free movement of Palestinians inside the territory, and over the identity and number of prisoners to be freed in a swap.

A U.S. official, asked if Hamas' comments amounted to a rejection of the deal, said Washington believed the bridging proposal it outlined last week addressed various concerns and would iron out difficult implementation aspects.

Blinken says Israel agrees to U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal, urges Hamas to do the same

U.S. secretary of state did not mention if plan meets demands made by militants
The Associated Press

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Monday that Israel has accepted a proposal to bridge differences holding up a ceasefire and hostage release in Gaza, and he called on Hamas to do the same, without saying whether it had addressed concerns cited by the militant group.

Blinken spoke after holding a 2½-hour meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier in the day, and was expected to travel to Egypt on Tuesday. The United States, Egypt and Qatar have spent months trying to broker an agreement, with the talks repeatedly stalling.

He did not say whether the so-called bridging proposal addressed Israel's demands for control over two strategic corridors inside Gaza, which Hamas has said is a non-starter, or other issues that have long bedevilled the negotiations.

"In a very constructive meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu today, he confirmed to me that Israel supports the bridging proposal," Blinken told reporters. "The next important step is for Hamas to say 'yes."'

Blinken had earlier said the time is now to conclude a Gaza ceasefire agreement that would return hostages held by Hamas and bring relief to Palestinian suffering after more than 10 months of devastating fighting in Gaza.

Now they can get on with removing Netanyahu and prison.

The IDF retrieved the bodies of six hostages taken alive by Hamas on October 7 from Gaza. It is possible that airstrikes led to some of their deaths, the IDF said. A bereaved families' forum said PM Netanyahu told them he's not sure a deal to release the hostages will be secured, and that Israel will absolutely not withdraw from the Philadelphi route, running along the Gaza-Egypt border. Negotiations for a truce in Gaza will resume in Cairo on Thursday, a former Egyptian diplomat said. The mother of a hostage held in Gaza said she was told by Israel's Mossad chief that a hostage deal is impossible "in the current political constellation." There could be a long wait for Iranian retaliation against Israel, Iran's Revolutionary Guards spokesperson said.

In Clue, the classic "whodunit" board game, players are charged with solving the murder of Mr. Boddy by determining where he was killed, with what weapon, and by whom. Owens, knowing that the Jews are secretly in control of the entire world, knew she wouldn't need to find any clues to solve the mystery.

"IT WAS THE JEWS!" Owens cried. "The Jews, in the Conservatory, with the Space Laser!"

She added, "It's so obvious! The Conservatory is the only room made of glass that a space laser could see through, and the Jews use space lasers! There is literally no way it can be any other answer.
Owens' husband, George Farmer, tried to dissuade his wife. "Honey, think about this for a minute. We shuffled a bunch of cards together and randomly selected three to put in the envelope. If there were only one possible answer we wouldn't have to choose a random solution from different cards."

"That's just what the Jews want you to think! Open your mind!" she said, dismissing her husband.

The other players tried to explain that "Jews" and "Space Laser" were not valid options, but it was too late. She opened the envelope that held the game's solution, thus eliminating herself from the game.

"This can't be," she said, crestfallen. "The Jews tampered with this envelope!"

(a possible alternative was Colonel Mustard in the Study with the Rope…or the Jews!! At publishing time, Candace Owens was vindicated after she did her own research and determined Colonel Mustard was a Jew)

After a day spent meeting with Egyptian and Qatari officials, Blinken reiterated that Israel had agreed to what the top US diplomat called a “bridging” agreement that would create space for the two sides to hammer out the details of a cease-fire introduced by President Joe Biden in May. Now it’s Hamas’s turn, he said.

It was Blinken’s ninth trip to the region since the conflict began with Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel, and the result was just the same: Israel and Hamas unable to set aside their disagreements to halt the fighting. Stymied in the push for an enduring cease-fire, Blinken had come to the region this week with the more modest proposal aimed at building common ground and easing the violence.

One stumbling block Blinken and other mediators have been unable to overcome is that Hamas wants any cease-fire to amount to a permanent end to the war, while Netanyahu wants to be able to restart the conflict to achieve his country’s aim of destroying the group’s military and governing capabilities.

Give it up Bibi. Do your 10 years like a real man.

PM Netanyahu is "once again sabotaging the talks" for a hostage release/cease-fire deal with Hamas, a source involved in negotiations told Haaretz. U.S. and Israeli officials reportedly believe that truce talks are "on the brink of collapsing." Hezbollah fired some 50 rockets at northern Israel, leaving one man moderately wounded after a direct rocket hit on his house. Six Gaza border communities and the hostage families' forum announced that they will boycott the government-organized ceremony commemorating the October 7 massacre.

Here's what you need to know 320 days into the war

What happened today

Protesters call for a hostage deal, end of war in Gaza, in Tel Aviv on Monday.

■ HOSTAGES/CEASE-FIRE: PM Netanyahu is "once again sabotaging the talks" for a cease-fire/hostage deal with Hamas, a source involved in the negotiations told Haaretz, adding that "his statements indicating that Israel would not withdraw from the Gaza-Egypt border, at a time when sensitive negotiations are underway for finding a solution there, only make it more difficult to find a solution, increasing suspicions, signaling to Hamas and the mediators that Netanyahu is uninterested in a deal."
Israeli and U.S. officials believe that current cease-fire/hostage deal negotiations between Israel and Hamas are "on the brink of collapsing," Politico reported, adding that the current proposal – which was "tailored to the demands of both Hamas and Israel" by the U.S., Egypt, Qatar, and Israel – was accepted by Israel, while Hamas said it will not accept it.

An Egyptian official with direct knowledge of the negotiations told AP that "the Americans are offering promises, not guarantees. Hamas won't accept this," adding that the proposal doesn't clearly say Israel will withdraw its forces from two strategic corridors in Gaza, the Philadelphi route, which runs along the Egypt-Gaza border, and the Netzarim corridor which cuts east to west across the Strip, and that Israel offered to downsize its forces in Philadelphi, with "promises" to withdraw from the area. "This is not acceptable for us and of course for Hamas," he concluded.

The Hostage Families Forum said that "the full and direct responsibility for the fate of the negotiations is on the prime minister. His incessant attempts to blame the negotiation teams, the mediators, the press, the hostages' families and even the hostages themselves are pulling the wool over the public's eyes and the entire world…If he is so successful at conducting negotiations, as he describes himself to be, he should fly out himself and act to return the hostages that were abandoned on his watch and for ten months since."

Ditza Or, whose son Avinatan is held hostage by Hamas, suggested on national television that the sons of Israel's defense minister and army chief be exchanged for the remaining captives. Or is a member of the "Tikva" forum of hostage families that opposes the current truce proposal.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed ongoing efforts to prevent regional escalation and secure a cease-fire in Gaza with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, the State Department said.

U.S. President Joe Biden is expected to speak with PM Netanyahu later on Wednesday, Axios reported.

"The public discourse in Israel is focused on the hostages and their fate, but Netanyahu considers them to be a media nuisance, a battering ram by his political opponents, and a distraction from the goal: A prolonged occupation of the Gaza Strip, or – as he has repeatedly declared since the outbreak of the war – 'Israeli security control'" – Aluf Benn

Piccini's grilling of Hahn was perfect, now Hahn must go
CUPE boss has repeatedly made antisemitic comments, it's time for Fred Hahn to be sent packing.

Author of the article:Brian Lilley
Published Aug 21, 2024 • Last updated 9 hours ago • 3 minute read

Union boss Fred Hahn was called out as anti-Semitic on Tuesday by David Piccini, Ontario’s Labour Minister. It was the first time that Piccini had met with or spoken to Hahn since taking over the Labour portfolio last September.

“My door will remain open to your members but you have to stop hating Jews,” Piccini told Hahn.

On Wednesday, Premier Doug Ford said he wanted to give Piccini a “shout out” for his comments about Hahn.

“This guy has been a bully for 20 years,” Ford said. “His bigoted comments, it’s unacceptable.”

In his exchange with Piccini on Tuesday, Hahn, who is president of CUPE Ontario, said he wasn’t talking about Jews, just criticizing Israel. Don’t believe him. For months, Israel has been an unhealthy obsession for Hahn and Jewish members of CUPE feel threatened.

There have been growing calls for Hahn to resign or be fired over his comments and social media posts.

On Tuesday, CUPE national’s board voted that they had lost confidence in Hahn to carry out his role as national VP and asked him to step down. While technically this wouldn’t impact his role as CUPE Ontario President, it would undermine his position within the union.

Since early October, Hahn has been under fire for his comments and social media posts regarding the ongoing war between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas.

“I’m thankful for the power of workers, the power of resistance around the globe. Because Resistance is fruitful and no matter what some might say, Resistance brings progress,” Hahn posted to social media on October 8, 2023.

Hahn was referring to Hamas and their attacks when speaking of resistance. In another post, Hahn posted an image with the slogan, “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

When you are posting those kinds of comments immediately after a terrorist attack that killed more than 1,200 people including children, women and the elderly, how else is the public supposed to interpret the remarks other than as supportive of Hamas?

Hahn has faced criticism not just from Piccini but also from within his own union. A legal complaint via the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario started last fall with 25 complainants, then grew to 80 and now after Hahn’s latest disgraceful post is expected to grow.

Recently, Hahn posted a doctored video showing a diver, looking like it was from the Paris Olympic Games complete with graphics and a play-by-play commentary. The diver had a prominent Star of David tattoo on their shoulder which the video zoomed in on to highlight. As the diver jumped from the board to land in the pool, the scene switched to an explosion, presumably of Gaza.

Hahn reposted someone who called this a masterpiece, sharing the video on his own social media platforms.

There was outrage and condemnation of the post, but Hahn left the post up for more than a week. Eventually he took it down and issued what some called an apology but truly was not.

“Recently I posted a video on this platform, which I understand caused pain for some who viewed it. I have removed it from my feed because I deeply regret any such reaction,” Hahn wrote.

He regrets their reaction?

How about you regret posting such a horrific video?

Hahn has lost any moral authority to call himself a leader at this point. As you watch the video of Piccini confronting Hahn over his actions and comments of the last few months, it’s clear that Hahn thinks he’s done nothing wrong.

“As a labour leader you’ve got to represent your members,” Piccni told Hahn.

“I need you to know that I am representing my members and I’m not talking about Jews, I’m talking about the State of Israel,” Hahn replied.

Hahn went on to say that he represents 290,000 workers but the truth is many of them don’t feel comfortable with Hahn’s statements anymore. Locals representing paramedics in the Windsor area has issued statements distancing themselves from Hahn while Local 2977 representing developmental workers near Niagara have done the same.

Air Canada workers represented by CUPE went out of their way to issue a statement that they are not affiliated with CUPE Ontario and don’t support Hahn’s views.

Ford called Hahn a terrible human being. It might sound harsh but given the circumstance it is accurate as well.

Hahn’s words and actions are an embarrassment for all of CUPE and the labour movement writ large. The man is unfit for leadership and needs to go, sooner rather than later.

Why is there CUPE anyway? Only 6% of labour is Unionized. Unions aren't needed.
