I know numbers that are higher than what you can count on your fingers hurt your brain, but some information might be of value. This is several years old, but at that time the highest 1% of income earners paid 21.2% of income taxes. The top 10% of income earners paid 55% of income taxes. Meanwhile, the lower 50% of income earners collectively pay just 3% of income taxes.

Since then provinces and the feds have both increased taxes on 'the rich' several times, and have cut taxes on 'the middle class' so this would be higher today. Which means the 'rich' are carrying this country on their backs while freeloaders like you pay nothing.
I like the way you exclude other taxes from your analysis. Whatever it takes to produce the result you wanted, I guess.

Dont like paying taxes? STOP VOTING LIE-BERAL! Everything they collect- AND everything they can BORROW goes to civil service Hogs!

Here is yet another article illustrating just how bad is all LIE-beral policy! With some comments of my own in brackets):

Big business joins chorus against tax changes 4/21

Canadian Press. Andy Blatchford

OTTAWA - A big Canadian player has quietly picked up his chips and is heading for the exit amid all the tumult over the Trudeau government's controversial tax proposals.

A business owner has informed John Manley, the head of an organization representing Canada's largest corporations, that he's moved billions of dollars outside the country since the Liberals announced their tax changes in mid-July.

(This is an open admission that LIE-beral immigration idiocy and LIE-beral spending madness generally are now so insane that even Corporate CEO`s who are usually immune to business fluctuations are getting nervous and are convinced that LIE-berals are rapidly pushing us ever deeper into a fiscal swamp with no way back out!)

The government's proposals to eliminate several tax incentives have awakened a large contingent of vocal opponents from numerous backgrounds — from the small business community, to farmers, to tax planners, to professionals like doctors and lawyers. Even backbench Liberal MPs have publicly expressed their concerns.

(John Manley- mentioned above- was a LIE-beral finance minster during the Chretien years and has recently spoken against the deficits being run by LIE-berals Trudope and Wynne-bag! Yes- LIE-beral spending is so far out of control that it is even scaring SENIOR LIE-berals!)

In the background, the Liberals' proposed tax reforms are also a deep concern for a much-smaller, silent group of Canadians: wealthy business leaders.

This LIE-beral tax raid on small and medium sized business is a signal that Our idiot Boy Justin has awoken to the reality that his vaunted plan to “save the middle class” is actually nothing more than a larger, more dangerous and more costly version of the insane NDP plan of former Ontari-owe premier Bob (Boob) Rae to make us rich with borrowed money! The idiot Rae plan doubled the Ontari-owe debt in 4 years and forced up un-employment to dangerous levels and resulted in the infamous Rae days in which civil service Hogs were sent home one day a week for UNPAID time off- because govt could not pay them!)

Manley, a former Liberal finance minister in the Chretien government, said the elements of the government's plan to tighten rules on passive investment portfolios and the transfer of family businesses have created worries for some members of his organization, the Business Council of Canada.

(It is truly troubling that LIE-berals would be attacking small business like this since it is small business that creates the lions share of jobs in Canada! Hurt small biz and you hurt all Cdns- INCLUDING civil service Hogs whose income is dependent on tax revenue- and unemployed people DO NOT pay taxes!)

The financial concerns have been compounded by the government's accompanying messages that Manley believes have "vilified" higher-income Canadians.

Many of his members, he added, have been taken aback by rhetoric that they see as pitting the middle class against the wealthy.

(LIE-beral Manley is true to his roots- he is wise enough to condemn LIE-beral spending madness but does not want to admit that LIE-beral rhetoric is actually pitting LIE-berals, civil service Hogs, Muslims, natives and Black Lives Matter types against the MAJORITY of the country- all so LIE-berals can cling to power at any price!)

"I don't get it at all — I thought that one of the successes of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was that he was the unifier, he was bringing people together," said Manley, who noted the broader economy could feel the sting of losing too many big job creators.

(Apparently Manley stays true to his LIE-beral roots and IGNORES the hard core communist/ Stalinist economic orientation of the Trudope clan! Father Pierre LED several contingents of Cdn socialist supporters- the type that Lenin referred to as “useful idiots”- to Moscow in the 1930`s for what Stalin billed as peace talks and which were described by more honest observers as carefully staged Soviet propaganda shows!)

(Our idiot Boy Justin is not worried about bankrupting Canada with insane deficits since he is apparently following his fathers lead by trying to destroy what Pierre referred to as Cdn Imperialism- which seems to be Trudope family code for Cdn democracy and capitalism! Our idiot Boy seems to have only one real fear- that he may not get re-elected in 2019 as too many Cdns are already becoming outraged by his economic, immigration and social destruction! )

"There's lots of journeymen hockey players in the NHL, but you still want to have some (Connor) McDavids and (Wayne) Gretzkys and people that are stars."

(Manley refers to the reality that an economy is like a sports team and requires a full compliment of players- experts and lesser ones as well.)

Manley pointed to one example where a successful business owner has decided to leave Canada with "billions of dollars."

On the advice of tax professionals, he said the individual decided to move the money primarily because of the impacts the reforms could have on his family through changes related to estate planning.

There's a notion that other big players could soon head for the exits, Manley said.

"You won't know about it because they're not going to buy ads or report it — they'll just go."

(But then LIE-berals do not apparently mind letting such people go- after all it was then LIE-beral finance minster Paul Martin who moved his billion plus dollars in Canada Steamship Lines assets out of Canada WITHOUT paying any duties- using tax loopholes he seems to have left in his own revised legislation for that very purpose!)

Manley's group is calling on the government to hold off on the proposed changes for now to allow for a broader review of the tax system that examines additional goals like making the entire structure less complex.

(Manley NEEDS to face reality- any tinkering done by LIE-berals will simply allow for MORE tax gouging! LIE-berals do not offer us solutions- they only have MORE PROBLEMS for us! LIE-beral social engineering trumps logic and need!)

Failing that, he would like to see the feds fix any unintended consequences from the current plan on the table.

Finance Minister Bill Morneau first released the three-part tax reform plan in the middle of the summer. He argued it would level the playing field for Canadians.

The package includes restrictions on the ability of business owners to lower their tax rate by sprinkling their income to family members in lower tax brackets, even if those family members do no work for the business.

Morneau also proposed limiting the use of private corporations to make passive investments in things like stocks or real estate. Another change would limit business owners' ability to convert regular income of a corporation into capital gains, which are typically taxed at a lower rate.

(Too bad LIE-berals cannot do anything useful about the risks taken by small business owners! Prior to the 2008 economic melt down, small businesses had a serious failure rate- over 90 percent failed in their first year and 90 percent more failed within 5 years. What the failure rate of small biz is now we do not know as LIE-beral controlled StatsCan officials do not seem to offer up such information any more. Kicking at small biz is a great way to cripple our economy just as all those bills from LIE-beral deficits start showing up in Ottawa- and all marked “PAST DUE”!)

The government also gave Canadians a 75-day consultation period, ending Oct. 2, to weigh in on the proposals. Morneau has insisted the government will listen to concerns before it tables legislation.

Trudeau has stood firmly by the proposed reforms and has stressed they are about making the system fairer, rather than generating revenue.

The goal, he said earlier this week, is to stop a system that "encourages wealthy Canadians to use private corporations to pay lower tax rates than the middle class."

Follow AndyBlatchford on Twitter

(And how sad that LIE-berals have ignored reality here and have scorned the risks taken by small business owners! But then LIE-berals and hardline communists don’t like small biz because they are too hard to bully or control- best for LIE-berals to get rid of them!)

(After all, it was Pierre Trudope who showed us he preferred to deal with large corporations and CEO`s since it meant there were less people in the room to be bribed over or persuaded- and of course large corps are often unionized and LIE-berals can then use union management to mobilize the rank and file with the highly selective bribes that LIE-berals so often hand out! Yes- LIE-berals LOATHE small biz!)

Too long to read again

LIAR! Here is more for you not to read:

Here is an article presenting some facts that LIE-berals wish to deny and to dismiss and persuade us to ignore. We obey LIE-berals in this at OUR peril! With some comments of my own in brackets):

Brainwashed jihadists? No, they know exactly what they're doing

BY CANDICE MALCOLM
FIRST POSTED: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2017 07:26 PM EDT | UPDATED: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2017 07:33 PM EDT

Related Stories: M-103 weaponizes what a ‘phobia’ is

(AS I have said before- LIE-berals intend to turn Islamophobia into a hate crime that they can use to shut down debate on ANY LIE-beral policy- either you AGREE or you SHUT UP!)

(Our idiot Boy Justin wants us to think that radical Muslims are simply un-educated and a little misguided- this article shows that LIE-beral belief to be a LIE!)

Canada is a “filthy place” – this, according to a handwritten letter sent by a Canadian al-Qaeda agent to his family back in Canada.

Once a University of Manitoba engineering student, Maiwand Yar left in 2007 and mailed the letter from a terrorist outpost in Pakistan.

The letter recently became public, and is being used as evidence in the American trial of Yar’s friend and former classmate, Muhanad al-Farekh, who is facing terrorism charges after being captured in Pakistan.

In the letter, Yar urges his family to leave Canada and instructs them to stop watching Hollywood movies and North American news stations — “nothing but lies”— and to avoid Western fashion and Canadian public schools.

“Put all the kids in an Islamic school and make the kids wear (a) hijab from an early age,” he commands.

This letter offers a rare glimpse into the mind of a radicalized jihadist. In his own words, he explains exactly what he is doing and why.

(IN other words- just as I have said before- Jihad jerks hold social views and values that are simply incompatible with our western views! There can be nothing but Trouble when such social views collide! And in the long run, one group will have to change or die! There is nothing Our idiot Boy can say to a jihadist that will sway him away from hate of the west!)

The letter goes against everything Justin Trudeau and his friends want us to believe about Islamists, and debunks many of the prevailing myths pushed by those who sympathize and apologize for radical Islamists.

First, the letter provides a calm and clear explanation for why this young man left Canada to join a terrorist army. Yar insists he isn’t crazy or under any illusions when it comes to his hatred for Canada.

Far from the narrative that terrorists suffer from mental illness, Yar emphasizes that he’s made a choice, and he believes it’s the right one.

Second, Yar explicitly says he’s not brainwashed. “It hurts me so much that you believe I left because I was brainwashed and didn’t know what I was doing,” he writes. Yar instead accuses his family and the Muslim community in Canada of going astray and betraying his fundamentalist worldview.

(In other words- the goof is condemning his own family for selling out and becoming moderates comfortable with Cdn values! AS I said- ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER MUST CHANGE if there is to be peace!)

Third, this terrorist is incredibly religious, and his letter is filed with references to Islamic scripture and scholars who promote violent jihad against non-Muslims.

It’s clear he’s a devout and fundamentalist Muslim, motivated by his faith. Anyone who still believes that Islamist terrorism has “nothing to do with Islam” should read this letter.

Forth, the letter is surprisingly articulate – revealing Yar as intelligent and well-educated. His beliefs are evil—based on 7th century morality and militant tribalism—but there is no doubt he possesses a thorough and well-researched ideology.

Finally, this letter debunks the prevailing myth that terrorists are driven by a lack of economic opportunity.

Graduating from a top Canadian university with an engineering degree could have landed Yar a high-paying job. He is smart, and could have had a very good life in Canada.

(It is proof that the LIE-beral assumption that Muslims will be seduced and pacified by access to western affluence will NOT work! Jihad is ALL OR NOTHING!)

This terrorist didn’t reject Canada because he had no other options. He made a clear choice.

He believed he was fighting in a war of civilizations, and he was willing to die for his cause.

Jihadists repeatedly tell us, in cogent language, that they are fighting a war to destroy our civilization and to impose their Islamist ideology.

We can either choose to take terrorists at their word, and do something to stop the spread of Islamist jihad.

(I would not wish to spend 2 minutes discussing morals and values with a Jihadist- it is an exercise in futility since my voice is far less important than the word of God! I say quarantine radical Islam like the political disease it is!)

Or we can choose to believe Justin Trudeau – who sees terrorists as victims, deserving of a second chance. Trudeau said the Boston Marathon bombings only happened because someone “feels completely excluded.” He’s rewarded ex-terrorists – with cash and citizenship.

We can choose to be realistic or naive.

That’s our choice. The jihadists have made theirs.

(And so have LIE-berals- their choice is to suck up to Muslims and BUY votes so LIE-berals can cling to power at any price!)

Income taxes are the bulk of what we pay in fed/provincial taxes. There is the HST, but higher income Canadians naturally pay way more there. For example, I paid $50,000 in HST on my house when I bought it a few years back, and lower income Canadians get GST refunds. Lower income Canadians also get tax writeoffs for a part of the rent while higher income people pay municipal taxes. Lower income Canadians get tax writeoffs for transit passes, while higher income Canadians pay gas taxes.

As to why I didn't include all of it together, that's because no one has produced anything I can cite with numbers. But basic logic and an awareness of what other taxes there are would lead almost anyone to conclude that the 1% and 10% pay most taxes.

If you could find a job that pays you $500 a month, just think of all the taxes you could save and all the subsidies you could get!

I'm with the other half that are happy to see them stay.

Homelessness shouldn't be a federal concern. It's best handled at the municipal level. That's already been proven by the City of Medicine Hat.

Here is an article illustrating how messy our future will be if Toronto Silly Hall socialist hordes continue on their irresponsible way! With some comments of my own in brackets):

TCHC units in Jane-Finch closer to being closed for safety fears

By Shawn Jeffords, Political Bureau Chief. First posted: Wednesday, April 19, 2017 07:14 PM EDT | Updated: Wednesday, April 19, 2017 07:22 PM EDT

Mayor John Tory stressed that the city had originally intended to repair 134 community housing units on Firgrove Cres., but once the work began it became apparent it wouldn’t be good enough. (THE CANADIAN PRESS/PHOTO)

TORONTO - Mayor John Tory’s executive committee voted Wednesday to close 134 community housing units in the Jane and Finch neighbourhood, saying they had little choice but to demolish them for safety reasons.

Tory stressed that the city had originally intended to repair the units on Firgrove Cres., but once the work began it became apparent it wouldn’t be good enough. The city will have to tear down the units and build new. But that will cause significant disruption and displacement for current residents, he acknowledged.

(And this will cost MORE MONEY the city does not have! The long term cost to build a new rental unit is considerably HIGHER than the rents being charged!)

“We discovered upon actually getting there and starting to do the work ... that they really couldn’t be repaired and shouldn’t be repaired,” the mayor said. “They were never probably built properly to begin with.”

(Not built properly to begin with as Tory suggests? Does that mean Toronto building inspectors were SLOPPY about code specifications? Or is it just an excuse of the sort Jackass John Tory so often spits out these days?)

“We tried to do the right thing and I think we are still doing the right thing by actually demolishing these units and starting over with them,” he added.

The committee approved the TCHC plan but it must still be passed at next week’s city council meeting before moving ahead.

The committee heard from residents and housing advocates Wednesday who slammed the city and the Toronto Community Housing Corporation, which runs the complex, for the poor execution of the relocation. Resident Edna Rose, who has lived in the complex for 30 years, said the process will force her to leave a community she calls home.

“I don’t understand why you are all playing politics with my living,” she said. “It is just getting me sick. Since the relocation started, I can’t tell who I am anymore.”

TCHC CEO Greg Spearn warned that the building needs to be torn down because of safety concerns. The only responsible thing to do as a landlord is get residents into new homes as soon as possible, he said.

The process will be difficult and disruptive to residents, he acknowledged.

Spearn defended TCHC’s relocation process, which some advocates complained involves a “bingo-style” number lottery to establish a queue for a new home. Spearn said that lottery just sets an order in which TCHC staff will meet with residents, but they will still seek out the individual needs of residents.

The process is designed to ensure nobody feels that another resident is cutting the line for a choice unit, he said.

“We’re going to be right out in the open about this and we’re going to be random about it,” he said. “That doesn’t mean we’re going to be abandoning the idea of meeting one family at a time.”

Former Toronto mayor John Sewell slammed city council for letting Firgrove Cres. get to the point where it had to be torn down. And it’s just the first of more to come because of council’s inaction, he said.

“I think the city council has now established itself as the worst landlord in Toronto,” he said. “That’s not a good reputation to have. It’s got to change.”

(Sewell was a one term wonder as a mayor-just too left `wingy` to be acceptable even in socialist haven/sanctuary city Toronto! But he IS right about MTHC being the biggest slum lords in the country! And all this is proof that the city SHOULD NOT be in the housing business-they simply cannot handle it! And there is reason to believe that senior politicians recognize the absurdity of continuing with MTHC and are going to simply let the building ROT to the point they can all be closed for safety reasons-while city council cries crocodile tears about the refusal of other levels of govt to help HOG Town! And it makes sense I guess as many of the tenants are as old as their buildings and as the buildings die-so do the aged tenants and the whole city made mess sinks into oblivion!)

Didn't read your entire post do the ridiculous length.

What I will say is that notoriously right-wing Medicine Hat managed to eliminate homelessness with a Liberal government in Ottawa. Trudeau is irrelevant on this issue

Hey- ITS EASY to eliminate homelessness in a city- just stop handing out freebies! No more safe injection sites means all the fentanyl dopers will go some place else where there are handy emergency services! And Stop billing yourself as a sanctuary city so the illegals will not flood in! And it helps to have a climate cold enough that its lethally dangerous to sleep out in winter! a good hard winter thins out the ranks!

And it does not hurt to have a pack of LIE-berals deciding to screw around out west and see what votes they can scare up by sucking up to notoriously anti LIE-beral westerners by throwing extra money at them for an experimental program for the homeless that will NEVER be offered to the rest of the country!

LIE-berals do love their bait and switch! And that is all you are referring to when you talk about Medicine Hat- its just bored LIE-berals messing with your head!

Start the division at net income and total taxes compared to total expenses.

To say a rich man is supporting the poor because they paid $1000 in taxes while a poor person payed on $50 is ignoring the fact that the poor person's net income is $20k and the richer man takes home $200k. Perhaps taking it all above $100k would allow the poor person to get more money per year rather than less.

Hey- ITS EASY!
Really?? You do know that starving people will do home invasions once they are a bit hungry right??

The statement was all the 'rich' people should be deported until they learn how to look after the poor. I pointed out that they are ALREADY looking after everyone else.

To say a rich man is supporting the poor because they paid $1000 in taxes while a poor person payed on $50 is ignoring the fact that the poor person's net income is $20k and the richer man takes home $200k.

Except a person whose net income is $200k isn't paying $1000 in taxes, he's paying closer to $100,000 in taxes. Meanwhile the poor person is paying $0. So the rich person is not only paying for the poor person's housing, his food, his health care, and his share of all government services, but literally, for the clothes on his back.

Perhaps taking it all above $100k would allow the poor person to get more money per year rather than less.
No, it would just drive all the doctors, software engineers, financial experts, architects, etc, out of the country, crush our economy, throw millions out of work, and thus leave far, far, far less money to pay for the poor. Communism never works anywhere.

How many Professionals have moved south of the border since 2000AD? Canada isn't known for the rich from far away come for treatment that I am aware of. Canadians are likely to go south for treatment. That would also include the drugs made in the US for Canadians as that would also be a decent income for the manufacturers.

Communism doesn't work when somebody wants to be a shareholder. Even in the USSR the leaders lived the same lifestyle that any European elite lived. Sanctions hurt the poor rather than the rich.

It seems you are trying to justify Canada paying them the same as they would make in the US just so they won't leave?? Whose taking care of who in this situation?? A guy makes $1B gross and after deductions he pays $100M in taxes leaving his take home at $900M. Some guy on a pension starts paying taxes before he is past $10,000 and you are claiming the rich guy is the ones who needs a tax-break? Should the pensioner should start paying tax at $5,000 instead.

Royalty and surfs doesn't work out in the end either. With communism your personal smarts would be how you get ahead rather than belonging to the elite to begin with. Any group that only pampers it's own members can appear more powerful than the larger group but in the end the big group is the ones with some people left standing.
