If you have to spend this much time trying to distance Palin's poster from gun and targeting speak, clearly, it evokes that idea. And I call bull on those defending her... she quite clearly meant it to evoke that image, as she's going for the tough girl with a gun persona. Did she mean for someone to take it literally? No... I do believe it was figurative. Is that a comfort to the family of one of the people 'targeted' after they've been shot? I highly doubt it. Even if the nut job never ever read Palin's page, it coming up in discussion after one of its targets has been shot, is not some oddity, it's not 'absurd'. Clearly Palin and her handlers agree as it's all now been taken down, presumably out of respect (or perhaps to just change that 'surveyors mark' to red?)

I can't see anyone arguing with you on those points.

Which means what? It means that some mentally unstable nutjob killed some people. It doesn't mean that Palin (or any FoxNews host, or the ghost of Tom Joad) was telling him to do it - he is a nutjob who went off his rocker.

Are people seriously arguing that using gun/military/war images in election campaigns should be banned? At a time when every hour of the day, you turn on the tv, or your video game console, and watch people being killed/shot/carved up / dismembered?

Blood guts and violence are the preferred item in the news, the bloodier the better, and we'll now blame figurative imagery in political advertising for the violence we see on the streets?

Sure, Palin's people would take down that site - out of respect, if nothing else. But to blame her? That's the modern trend - blame somebody else, it's never your own fault. Can't be his fault, Palin made him do it. Sure.

No, I think blaming her is a step too far. But.... I also think that when the public stands up and says that election rhetoric has become unpalatable or has gone a step too far, perhaps politicians ought to listen. Otherwise, what stops the election process from sliding further and further into divisiveness and slander? This is one of those points where people are standing up and saying "See, now when we look back at your election it is tainted with this." I hope all politicians take a lesson away from it and take a step back toward civil campaigning.

It's probably not just the Tuscon shootings as two former Bush official were murdered as well and a couple of bomb parcels were sent to Janet Nepolitano's office.

Things could be escalating over there and we might have to deal with American illegal immigrants pouring into Canada.,

People that can't see that are either lying or stupid. It doesn't matter what they are, it matters what they represent and they obviously represent cross hairs. .

Since WHEN do the crosshairs of a rifle extend outside the field of view??

LOOK at the bloody representation, and it is immediately OBVIOUS these are not a riflescope recticle........ to anyone that ever looked down a riflescope, anyway.

Man, I gotta say it, you guys have been unwavering in your unsavoury, disgusting attempt to smear Republicans in general, and Sarah Palin in particular over this tragedy, and you have lost this entire argument on every level imaginable.

Semantics: Firearms terminology has become a part of the English language in a way that no other technology has........people consistently use "gun words" in their everyday speech........and the tendency is incredibly pronounced in any political conflict, which are after all, conducted from "war rooms".

FAIL

Technical details: please see the first of this post.

FAIL

Partisanship: Trying to point fingers at the "right" as being solely at fault for the imagined offense of using aggressive language and symbolism, while ignoring Obama's references to him bringing a gun to a knife fight, democratic maps with REAL targets on opponent's ridings, and Democratic ads in which the candidates fire rifles.........

FAIL

Obama, to his credit, spoke reasonably and properly on the subject, and fulfilled his role with dignity.

The rest of you guys should be ashamed of yourselves.

Until you need a home, a car, do a reno, save money with interest, pay bills, get a loan to start a buisness...etc etc etc.

It's like people who hate cops until they need one.

Now let us be clear, we are talking about the upper levels of bank management.

You forget, I worked for well over a decade in the armoured car industry, dealing with banks and bankers.

Absolute scum. They would see us dead in a millisecond over costing them a dime.

Oh.....and my sister-in-law has worked for a major bank as a teller most of her adult life....

Oh, I could tell you tales of abuse...

You can say that about any corperation as well, profit comes first, that is why we have regulations, labor boards and in some cases unions....you know...those evil bastards.

If you hate banks so much then take your money out.

I got a loan when I was a kid from a banker and started my buisness with that money.

BTW...my Mom worked in a bank for 10 years....loved it.
