He's not going to cancel it. Most of the TO murders are committed with handguns, many of which are smuggled in from the US which is why they are not registered. Harper was talking about the much more effective long guns not handguns.

BTW When is Stevo going to cancel it like he said. Anyone heard?

First thing in the new sitting of Parliament........it is (and I quote) "a priority of this government".

Yes, and it is the long gun registry only (unfortunately) that will be cancelled.

I think anyone without a criminal record and have no mental health issues should be allowed to own both a handgun and rifle if they so choose. Gun registries are useless because criminal do not and will not register their weapons, and it's naive to think that they will. The Liberals put these restrictions in place as feel-good measures to make people feel as if they are safe, but reality is something else. Liberals also put in laws that stated if weapons were used during the commission of a crime the sentence will be much longer because of it, but are sentences longer? No they're not because the judiciary is loaded up with activist, bleeding-heart lawyers who don't seem to believe in putting people in prison regardless of what type of crime they have committed. The poor things had a bad childhood, or they are addicted to drugs or alcohol so they should not be held accountable for their actions. They seem to believe there are any bad people and everyone can be rehabilitated, but the reality is that many don't want to be rehabilitated, because it's easier and often more lucrative to be a criminal and take what you want, instead of leading an honest life. After all the chances of getting caught are low, and even if you do, it's a slap on the wrist in a Canadian court of non-law.
