A perfect example of out of control idiocy!! Why didn't Rodriguez keep on the cops to do their job, Now one stupid man is dead because of another stupid one with a gun. Why weren't the noise makers charged with disturbing the peace?? Unbelievable.

Ahhh, and who is omnipetent enough to choose between the "good smart person and the bad stupid one??" or even just the smart drunk and the stupid sober one" So far it is not working out very well.
A certified trainer/instructor.Ahhh, and who is omnipetent enough to choose between the "good smart person and the bad stupid one??"
The stats say otherwise. So far it is not working out very well.

I'm glad you feel comforted. How comforting to the stupid drunks.......or the equally stupid sober one.
If you are a democrat (in the sense that you believe in democracy) then you know that the people are trustworthy, that despite the bad apples, the greater part of the people are responsible, decent, and make good decisions.
Or democracy is a waste of time.
If you have a pulse strong enough to send blood to the brain, you know that the irresponsible, the dangerous, and the criminals, will get firearms anyway.

No doubt you do, being drunk and/or stupid.Have a problem with reading comprehension I guess?
Sure they will, and right now there are a hell of a lot of them loose in the US. So, of course the " stand your ground law" in some states in the US is good law .....just record the conversation yelling you are afraid for you life and fire. Great fun!! Looking forward to the day when Canadians can do the same are you??

Never happen in Canada.
BTW, since the right to carry concealed weapons law first passed in Florida back in the late 80s, 40 states have followed suit in one manner or another.
And the murder rate has dropped 40%.
Explain, please.
Typical .............. Approve of making playthings of guns or as an excuse to do law-enforcement's jobs for them ....or you must be anti-democratic. As for arming everyone to the teeth in order to protect ourselves from dangerous numbskulls and criminals who steal and smuggle them, that is what we pay law-enforcement for. Is the next step, adopting the old west's way of solving problems?? Show down at noon in front of the saloon?
There are so many more suicides, murders and accidental shootings, than there are legitimate shootings in a year. Yours is a piss poor argument all the way around. Please

With respect to anything to do with firearms Colpy is the resident expert on the forum and perhaps you should be listening to him. From my own point of view if you don't feel comfortable or you feel inadequate with guns no one should force you to have one. By the same token those who are resonsible, can handle them and enjoy them shouldn't have some frickin' bureaucrat making things difficult for him. One main fact of life is criminals get guns and don't register them, but you deal with the criminal not the guns.

He may be an expert on guns, but is he an expert on human behavior??? Not likely. I am not interested in guns or firearms, except they not be made universally available. Gun clubs fine, hunters okay, for protection from neighbours or those we don't see eye to eye with, forget that!! And certainly not used to get the final word in an argument.
I do not accept your stats. I live in Florida nearly 5 months every year and have done for 23 plus years. Over those yeas I have watch to stats climb. Because Florida has the death penalty, it is maiming or claims of self defence that we see more of. The self defense is like the officer in California who shot a man several times while the man was on his hands and knees. He was acquitted. Not sure what will happen now that the camera footage from a by-stander's phone has surfaced anonymously.

Believe it........
United States Crime Rates 1960 - 2010
Homicide Rate (per 100,000), 1950–2007 — Infoplease.com
Please note Murder Rate 1989: 8.7 per 100,000, trending up.........
Then note Murder rate 2010: 4.8 per 100,000
That would be a drop of 44.8 %.....and still trending down.
Gun laws in the USA have gotten continually more lax. Since 1990 Assault weapons bans have been overturned, gun bans have been ruled unconstitutional as the US Supreme Court rules gun ownership is an individual right, and state after state after state introduces "must issue" concealed carry permits.........and gun sales go through the roof.
Those are the facts.....verifiable.
Explain please.
At least you can recognize that about your posts.Again, no legitimate reply, simply insults and inuendos. Rather pathetic.

Easy to explain: because of urbanization, actual gun ownership density is in decline. Is it a fact? Who knows, but if we are just tossing out hypotheses, that explains the drop.
Guns in the United States: Facts, Figures and Firearm LawNumber of Privately Owned Firearms
The estimated total number of guns held by civilians in the United States is 270,000,0001
Rate of Civilian Firearm Possession per 100 Population
The rate of private gun ownership in the United States is 88.82 firearms per 100 people
By the chart you submitted it shows overall crime rates have virturally doubled between 1960 and 2010. Stats can be screwed to prove whatever one wishes. What I see is that the "murder" rate has decreased minimally. The rest of the results are all up. What is not mentioned is how many of the other crimes guns were used in. Accidental deaths, woundings, suicides are not included.
And that chart does not mention, how the crime stats that have tripled, and more in some cases, what percentage involved guns. I know how to read stats and those are woefully inadequate as far as guns are concerned. Murder isn't the only life changing event guns cause. Guns were/are produced for one purpose to kill, wound or maim. The electric chair was produced for simply killing of offenders. Should we all keep one in our homes just in case??
I'm sorry but I do not and cannot think of guns in any other context than killing machines. And I certainly don't intend to support the US gun producers, inspite of the fact that industry is probably the most lucrative for the US government, as far as tax revenu goes.
Awww but that is another topic all together. I have pointed out the flaws in your stats, and my views on the subject. Unless, you can come up with something less depressing than having everyone walking around afraid for their lives because they don't own a gun, this is one disinterested lady. I prefer men and women who are interested in more benign play choices and toys.
