Is it cold and cynical to ask who is funding Greta Thunberg’s world eco-adventure?
Of course it isn’t. If someone was out filling meeting rooms and public parks with thousands of people while extolling the virtues of fossil fuel that question would be asked immediately, and for good reason.
As they say, follow the money.
(And that 61 ft long ocean going yacht she traveled to New York in was apparently ONLY RENTED!! One has to ask what sort of damage deposit one would NEED to pay before owners would allow a 16 year old high school drop out with learning disabilities and clinical depression to sail the boat out of sight of land??????????????????)
( If Greta has learning disabilities then how did she navigate?? One assumes she spent a LOT of cash on satellite phone calls to ask the folks back home what the numbers on her navigation gear SIGNIFIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
She is a 16-year-old girl. I am a grown man with a job and I can’t afford to pull up stakes and go traipsing around North America on a speaking tour unless someone foots the bill.
Ms. Thunberg has appeared at the UN in New York, in Montreal, just recently in Alberta, and has plans to appear in Chile, all in support of her particularly apocalyptic message of global doom.
(We KNOW that various Yankee “super pac” political action groups are active behind the scenes in Canada!! WE KNOW they want to KILL the Cdn oil patch to make their own oil holdings more valuable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
(We know also that Leadnow and other groups want to promote Socialist and or strongly UNION policies in Canada - in spite of what Cdns want or can actually AFFORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Greta has won several honours and scholarships, but it seems that when there was a cash award she donated it to charity. For example she received the German Goldene Kamera Special Climate Protection award and Thunberg said she would donate the 25,000 euro prize money to organizations she feels are doing good work in the area of climate change.
On Facebook, Thunberg addressed the rumours she knows abound about her.
“Many people love to spread rumors saying that I have people ‘behind me’ or that I’m being ‘paid’ or ‘used’ to do what I’m doing. But there is no one ‘behind’ me except for myself. My parents were as far from climate activists as possible before I made them aware of the situation.”
Are her parents funding the effort? She claims that at first they were against her activism but, “my parents pay for tickets and accommodations.”
She and her family have a book on the market but she claims all profits from that effort also go to charity. She is quite a fundraiser, it seems, but yet takes no money herself while travelling the world.

She claims independence.
“I am not part of any organization. I sometimes support and cooperate with several NGOs that work with the climate and environment. But I am absolutely independent and I only represent myself. And I do what I do completely for free, I have not received any money or any promise of future payments in any form at all. And nor has anyone linked to me or my family done so.”
Indeed here have been false stories about her and her financial situation. A hoax magazine cover claimed she was the “highest paid activist.” A number of sources have discredited a false image of Thunberg with the American financier George Soros. (That was a particularly clever hoax as he would be a likely suspect.)
Some people feel she is being used as a puppet for shadowy adults. I don’t know. She may be the Doogie Howser of the global crisis set, wise and independent beyond her years. She seems quite intelligent.
(In other news - Adolf Hitler was quite intelligent too - until his arrogance tripped him up!! One has to wonder if Greta also has feet of clay?? After all - her ocean voyage MUST HAVE generated a certain amount of waste -which her supporters are DECLINING to explain how it was disposed of!! A cynic would assume the waste was expediently DUMPED in the ocean - as has been standard practice for ocean travellers for MANY CENTURIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Or maybe she is actually the Mother Teresa of the movement, doing the right thing, always and with no compromise, and asking no reward.
But no one gets from New York to Montreal to Edmonton and on to Chile for free. Is it just her parents?
Anyone speaking against any aspect of climate change gets accused of being in the pocket of Big Oil, so if she gets to scold the planet, she needs to be more transparent than a mere Facebook posting.

It is sad that 16 year old FN girls are being abused, CC. Is yet another inquiry needed to acknowledge the fact that like the murdered and missing FN women, FN men were by far and large the main perpetrators? What are Canadians to do when FNs themselves know who the perps are yet in many if not most cases refuse to come forward?

The absolute most insane case I ever heard was in some extreme northern reserve..................................
and a woman with twins - about 16 months old- needed to fly out for the day for medical treatment or some such thing............
and she left the twins- along with a supply of baby food with her boyfriend and off she went..........................
and bad weather moved in - a very early winter storm and the plane flight back was delayed...........................
and boy friend had spent the day drinking and as evening came on and the baby food had run out............................
the twins started to cry LOUDLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So the guy has two screaming babies, no Mom available and NO MORE ALCOHOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ACTION obviously was needed to get alcohol and shut up the kids - they are drowning out the radio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and two QUITE DEAD little POPSICLES are eventually pried out of a snow bank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One has to ask if things like this are the reason SOME natives dont want to move to the city?????????????????????

The topic should have been about the validity of his post rather than it be a character assessment from somebody who is not even known as being close to being a moderate or coming to any sane conclusions.
