lol.... come on. You twist yourself into knots if someone shows you the same familiarity they show Nugg, or grump, or RCS, or T, or Ron, or any other number of posters. You take PERSONAL offense if someone says they can't stand Fox, and demand they apologize. You are so far from being thick skinned that I can see every last one of your veins.

Whatever it takes in self-defense.

My sense of humor is impeccable. My skin is thick, I must confess, though, that I am not and never wish to be and never will be politically correct.

You certainly have proven your sense of humour with that post, and your claim to have a thick skin.

Curious then how Germany and Japan have strong manufacturing industries, with trade surpluses, and with far more union presence. Germans even get six weeks of vacation a year. What is the difference?

I had six weeks of vacation after 15 years of service without union interference. And when I say 'service', I don't mean union servitude, but proud and voluntary contribution to the well-being of the company that hired me unknown, and gave me the trust to be the best for myself, and also knowing that being the best for myself is the best for the company.

Mutual respect breeds mutual advancement. An idea and concept unknown to unionist free-loaders.

So? Germany and Japan have higher rates of unionization than the American economy, which has seen huge reductions in manufacturing output. Your union model of manufacturing output doesn't hold water. There are other, more important factors, or else Germany and Japan wouldn't be exceptions to your claim.

Germany has recently been outsourcing much of their mfg labour to Hungarians.

There was a kerfuffle starting a couple of years ago that German mfg companies were bringing-in Hungarian workers in a bid to keep labour costs down. The unions as well as German immigration had (differing) concerns, but the motivation was to decrease labour costs associated with the union workers.

As to the exact #'s I do not know for certain.

So? Once I realized that the union was nothing more than a money-grabbing, freeloading and thuggish collection of crooks, I got out as fast as I could, and never needed them, ever again. Those of us with brains think for ourselves, and those without, rely unions.

I really don't care about the rate of unionization in Germany. Japan is another cup of tea. If you say that Japan is more unionized than Canada or the United States, you must seek another, more informed plateue.

So, your claims of union involvement in manufacturing decline are not supported.

In 2009, union workers made up 18.5% of all workers in Japan.

Compare that to the US:
Union Members Summary

Japan's economy is more unionized than the American economy, which is what I said explicitly:

I guess it was the "brotherhood" part of a union that YJ failed to grasp?

Well....................I think there must be a more diplomatic way of putting it without losing the gist of the message.

The Canadian government post office union is on the run. CUPW the postal union has begged the Labour Minister to reinstate their collective agreement and they promised to end their rotating national strike after the government post office cut letter carrier service down to 3 days a week from the usual 5 days a week due to a 50% drop in mail volumes.

The Government post office has refused this request.

There is also a strong rumour circulating that the government post office is ready to cut all post office wages down to minimum wage as stated in the Canada Labour Code until a negotiated agreement can be reached.

The government post office has given an olive branch to post office employees and their families that depend on the drug plan by offering a temporary card until a new agreement can be attained with the same discount as the union one..

CUPW - 2011-06-10 - Canada Post Corporation Rejects CUPW's Offer to Suspend the Strike

In response to today’s request from Labour Minister Lisa Raitt, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers agreed to suspend strike activity. The union’s only condition was that the terms of its collective agreement would be reinstated.

In 1991, when CUPW suspended its strike action to assist mediation efforts, Canada Post agreed to reinstate the union’s collective agreement.

At 6 PM this evening, Canada Post’s management rejected the union’s offer.

“This behaviour on the part of Canada Post Corporation is totally unacceptable,” said Denis Lemelin, CUPW National President and chief negotiator. “We are showing that we are willing to suspend our strike in good faith and with goodwill, as the Minister requested. Once again, Canada Post is rejecting any of our efforts to resolve the issues.”

As a result of Canada Post’s rejection, the union will continue its strike action in an effort to force Canada Post to negotiate. This weekend, postal workers in Red Deer, Alberta, are on the picket line.
Negotiations meetings are scheduled for this evening and will continue over the weekend.

Unionists preach and screech 'brotherhood' because they don't know who their pappies are.

that would be an extremely bad strategy when eventually you want both sides to come to an agreement and have the workers come back to work. Such an extreme move would demonstrate for many, that the government has Sh!t for brains. I personally would deliver coffee and food hampers to the picket lines if the government pulled this crap.

Let the bastards fade into oblivion. Canada needs the Postal Service about as much as it needs buggy whips.

that can be acomplished by taking your business elsewhere rather than kicking them in the balls
